Minnesota man who shot 5 BLM protesters found guilty
Quote:Scarsella was accused of shooting and injuring the five African-American men at a Black Lives Matter protest after the police shooting death of Jamar Clark in 2015.

Scarsella and three other men, all wearing face masks, went into an encampment outside a police station in north Minneapolis to livestream Black Lives Matter protests that had closed down a city block. Scarsella, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, brought a .45-caliber handgun and fired at demonstrators in what his attorneys say was self-defense.

CBS Minnesota reports that jurors saw numerous text messages Scarsella sent friends, including one saying, “Cool – the gun I’m getting is proven to kill black guys in a single shot.”

Prosecutors argued that the shootings were racially-motivated. The station reports that Scarsella was identified in a video taken the night of the shootings waving a handgun and making racially-charged statements about the Black Lives Matter protesters. In one video that was shot in a car while Scarsella and a friend were driving to an earlier protest, Scarsella is heard saying he is “on a mission” and “locked and loaded” while holding a gun.

Scarsella got hoisted with his own petard.

"Self-defense" shooting 5 people? Dodgy

I wish he could be sentenced to life. These morons who 'take matters into their own hands' and commit violence in the name of a cause do more damage to their own side than the opposition could ever hope to.

Don't have much sympathy for this guy--he shot five people who were unarmed and not a real threat to him. Now, had he shot a few violent antifags I could see myself feeling differently.

But I must admit this part of the article is a little suspect:
"Clark said he remembers Scarsella provoking protesters with racial slurs and luring a group of black men up the street where he turned and shot at them."

WTF? How does one man "lure" a group of protesters? The word "lure" only really applies if the protesters were actually mastiffs and the guy was backing away slowly with a big steak in hand. "Lure" is a completely bullshit loaded word designed to transfer any blame & responsibility at all from the BLM guys to the shooter. Reporters use words like this all the time to spur negative feelings against people/causes/ideologies they don't like---especially when the truth militates against the side they wish had come out on top. These guys weren't "lured"---they made a choice to follow & engage this guy who was probably talking shit to them. Doesn't mean they deserved to get shot, but let's not completely absolve the victims of any responsibility here either.

I have no sympathy for BLM and how they glorify thugs like Michael Brown. Give me a break, he was a criminal.

On the other hand, this shooter doesn't sound justified at all. That text message is pretty damning.

If you don't like BLM, get a concealed carry permit, but use it for actual self-defense.
