I drove by this billboard a couple weeks ago, imagine my surprise when I see a headline about it making the rounds:



The sign reads 'real men provide, real women appreciate it' and was arranged by a company that does not wish to be identified.

The protesters had this to say about it:

Quote:We are NOT protesting that the sign is capable of existing, or the people who put it up, or the ad agency, or the right to put it up. We are protesting patriarchy and sexism, and that this antiquated way of thinking about women exists at all

Similar story to many things we've seen over and over, bitches wanting to be the thought police. I have to admit I find the idea of 'real men provide' to be a beta schmuck outlook on life, but it is tempting to show up to the demonstration with a bunch of rednecks to demonstrate against demonstrations containing female thought police, organizing against beliefs and attitudes they don't like.

Why would someone put that on a giant sign?

Based on my google research, a billboard like that costs between 4 and 5 thousand dollars for four weeks.

Today I am happy I live in a state where those billboard things are illegal.

My take:

1. Males throughout most of the animal kingdom are providers. That's the way it works.
2. Women having careers in their prime child-baring years makes zero sense. Careerism for women is anti-nature.
3. There's nothing wrong with society expecting men to provide for women, providing women bring a separate but equal deal for men to the table. (Marry young, don't be a slut, assure paternity, don't be a feminist, etc.)

The message on this billboard is too simplistic to hit at the bigger picture. It is both right, and wrong at the same time. Given that there is no URL or phone number to get people to call, perhaps that was the whole point to stoke a conversation about male and female gender roles? If that's the case, they seem to have succeeded.

We should show up at the protests and dennounce it for its white knight demand that we man up and provide.

I saw an article on this the other day. If they really want something offensive on a bill board, then I propose the "No Hymen, No Diamond" slogan. I suppose that we are going to have to do a "Fight Club" hack on it, as I doubt that anyone would allow us to buy the advertisement for that.
