The thing is: people have free will and make their choices, so should rightly-face the consequences of their choices.

It's very, very hard to save people from themselves. One thing that was very hard for me to accept over the years was the majority of people who are complaining about their lives act like they're struggling in the water and seem to be reaching out a hand towards you safely sitting in your life boat. You can kick down a ladder for them and tell them to climb up, but they have no interest in making that kind of effort. They'll keep asking for your hard, because, deep down, they want to pull you down into the water with them.

Wisdom is learning to recognise those who will genuinely will make the effort to climb the ladder.

When that person is someone close to you it can take a long time to recognize it. For me it was my mum, eventually came to the conclusion she's happy being unhappy. What's worse is I can see she's having the same effect on my brothers as me, but I don't know how to help them.
