Logan movie review (spoilers)
One of the great things about science-fiction and fantasy is that it is very easy to hide messages in the subtext of the story. The messages are more subtle because people pay attention to the fantasy and sci-fi aspects. And since it's in a different time or place, people don't feel threatened by messages that they would otherwise disagree with.

I highly recommend that you all go see the movie Logan. It is full of red-pill messages. It also sounds like it will be the swan song for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier in the X-Men series.

In the film, we are also introduced the mysterious character of Laura, played by Daphne Keen. Laura is a young mutant (about nine or ten years old), and the two men are charged with protecting her and eventually getting her reunited with other young mutants like herself.

One of the major red-pill messages in the movie is that of the father as a protector of his family. During their trip, they encounter a farmer father who works hard to protect his family. We also see it in Wolverine's desire to protect Laura (who is biologically his daughter).

It's very rare for Hollywood to portray a positive relationship between a father and a daughter. While Wolverine simply gave his DNA to Laura, he still feels a bond to his daughter. She also has a bond with him, even though she has never met him. The message is that fathers matter and are connected to their kids because of biology.

The other red-pill message in the movie is the natural desire of the grown-ups to protect children. Toward the end of the movie, the young mutants are on their way to Canada to escape the authorities who are pursuing them. Wolverine is in very bad shape, but he still manages to give himself a large dose of medicine so he can fight the authorities who are after them. The message is that adults want to protect kids and don't need the government to "help" them.

Eventually, the kids do get away. However, Wolverine dies in the process. The kids even take time to buy him. This scene was handled with a lot of class and may make you cry.

I definitely recommend Logan.

Just saw it today.

SPOILERS!

SPOILERS DAMMIT

Very sad in the end.

The only thing I want to know is, why does Laura move the cross above Logan's grave to set it on it's side, as to form an X over his grave rather than a t?

In homage to the fact that he was in the X-Men. I thought it was a fucking great film. No SJW bullshit and it was inspired by classic westerns, which are very red pill.

If you're tired of the usual "epic", costumed superhero fare.
You'll be glad to know that this is a far more grounded character driven story. That just happens to feature mutants.

When I first heard a movie called "Logan" was coming out I was hoping it was a remake of the classic dystopian flick "Logan's Run."

Yeah, I'm sure that IS being remade at the moment.

That might 'renew' your hopes somewhat.

Saw it yesterday. Nothing red pill is coming out of hollywood. You took the only two "normal" things about that movie left and said its redpill. What you missed is whats coming next. No more Wolverine. The next movie will feature hispanic professor X, fat black magneto (so all the fat black kids that got poisoned by shitty soda can feel super too), and female wolverine. While you admire that cast notice how all the evil men are white with guns, catching our new crew to prevent them from crossing the border.

I did know that. Whilst watching the movie, I thought professor Xavier was held in Mexico for some reason and found it funny that they were trying to make it to cross the border in Canada instead of Mexico.

Probably because I had to get up and leave the theater to answer a work call here and there.

You could be right about "no more Wolverine." But as some of my friends said as we walked out of the movie, death is NEVER an absolute in this genre. They might very well resurrect him in future installments of the movies.

X-Men has always been a mix of male and female characters. There were boys and girls in the group of young mutants. For me, it's about characters who have different strengths and skills working together to fight for what is right. The message is that males and females are different and that they need each other because they are different.

There is another message here which I also consider red-pill. The ending battle was a fight between "free range kids" and the government. Here we had a bunch of kids who were young and naive, but they still wanted to live their lives as they saw fit. They realized that they knew better to take care of themselves than the "authorities" did. They didn't need government to be their mommy and daddy. It showed that the world can be a tough place, but kids can make it on their own if they must.

RE: Logan movie review (spoilers)
Great movie. I don't know if it was red pill or not. I think we try to shoe horn everything traditional into that term. This was a traditional movie in the style of westerns from back in the day. I think the classic movie "Shane" contributed to the story. The characters watch it and then Laura recites lines from Shane over Wolverines grave.

I didn't really see race in the movie at all. I like the ending. So rare to see a tough ending like that done well, with a mix of hope and loss.

Nothing wrong with the character composition, I was being dramatic more for comedy. Its driven by the market forces than some hidden agenda. I just didnt really see anything too red pill about it. There is no way theyll get rid of wolverine anyway, hes like batman for the dc universe. Theyll milk the female wolverine angle for a few movies till it runs out of steam, then return to wolverine which will be more fresh. They have this all figured out in a bunch of board room meetings.

RE: Logan movie review (spoilers)
It was a sad movie, but I think a fitting and poignant end to the Wolverine spin-off franchise. Very bleak. I left the theatre feeling a tad depressed and empty. Regardless this was a terrific take on a "superhero" film if you can even call it that. I'm really glad they went with an R rated film too. Also glad that Mangold decided against putting a teaser (ie Ad) at the end of the credits.

Saw it last night and it's fucking great.

Like Menace said, I didn't watch it saying "that's red pill". I mean I guess it has red pill themes, which is a lot more than we can say for a lot of current movies.

Make no mistake though, Logan is a fucking Alpha.

RE: Logan movie review (spoilers)
FUCKING SPOILERS AHEAD!

Hmmm, I know this'll sound strange coming from me but I felt like the movie was a lot of obvious SJW bullshit.

It was an ok movie overall but I didn't like it. I felt like the fact that they picked Mexico as the place where the clone kids were being made was an obvious political move to get people to view Mexico in a positive light with how the political climate is in America. Something about that entire part of the plot rubbed me in the wrong way.

I also found the main human villain (wasn't his name Donald FFS) to be an obvious play at the big bad white man (Donald Trump) hunting the Mexicans and forcibly exterminating them.

Also, the fight scenes in this movie were garbage-tier. You mean to tell me that 10+ mutant children who were trained for motherfucking combat and assassinations couldn't just use their powers and wipe those lame-ass Reaver dudes out in 2 minutes? Fucking x-22 was wrecking dudes all day with her claws, but those other lame-ass mutants just ran and cried. That was fucking weak. Also, the fact that X-22 (that girl wolverine) was the only decent fighter in the entire movie (besides x-24) was fucking embarrassing. It seemed like a lot of subtle "you go girl" bullshit. She is even the one to drop X-24 when he has logan on the ropes.

Tl;dr:

Mexican mutant clones being chased over the border (To Canada LOLWTF) by a wolverine clone and a human bounty hunter named Donald (trump)? are you fucking serious Hollywood? Pure garbage.

Caring more about Donald Trump than your bank account is beta.

I think if you're looking for a girl in a red dress you're gonna find a girl in a red dress.

The only part that didn't make a lot of sense to me:

---SPOILER---

Was when X-24 impaled Logan on that tree stump. The dude's bones are made from adamantium, including his ribs. The tree would have broken when his ribcage was slammed against it. I get that he's weak and the metal in his body has slowly poisoned him over time, but the adamantium still is what it is.

I loved the movie.

SPOILER

But as a long time Wolverine fan, I was sad to see Logan go. For a guy that got nuked and lived, and in the comics was incinerated down to his skeleton and then regenerated back, it's a tough sell that he basically died of old age.

I really wonder if "all the mutants are gone" is now canon though. I'm sure Marvel wants to bring the X-Men into the MCU if they can ever get whoever's got the license now to let go of it.

Well that really wasn't the cause. His healing factor was getting weaker in old age, yes, but the adamantium in his body poisons him. When his healing factor was in prime mode, it could fight the poison. But as he got older it just weakened.

So without the adamantium he could have probably lived another 100 years maybe.

Awesome fucking movie!!!

This is what all the X-men films should've been like, instead of that PG bullshit. I also liked the fact that there weren't any "romantic" scenes with Logan fucking some random chick who wants to "save" him. Though he could've tapped that Mexican nurse Laugh

There is no debate now, Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine. I had my doubts about him but he really went all out in this movie and showed tons of heart and soul. Incredible job.

Also, I don't know if anyone else saw it, but there was a lengthy trailer for a documentary called "Gigi Gorgeous: This is Everything" about a male-to-female tranny. I heard groans in the theater as it was playing Laugh

Great movie. Great but sad ending to Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. He played the role well and it will be impossible to replace him.

More super hero movies should take the risk this one did and not just be winning and all happy endings. Character development with Wolverine, Laura and X was great in this movie. Other characters were undeveloped but these 3 carried the movie.

Part of the problem with this forum is guys try to over analyze on some movies, whether they were redpill/blue pill, things didn't make sense, etc.

It's a movie. A super hero movie at that. Suspend reality for a few hours, ignore that shit and just a great a movie.

I agree I try not to consume my entertainment with the absolute requirement of red pill vs blue pill content, knowing that most of the industry doesn't cater to us anyway.

That said like someone mentioned above I couldnt help but notice the next gen of xmen were very diversified (i.e. not white). Am I supposed to expect this timeline of xmen to now be called "Los X-men" (queue mexican hat dance song). I know the movies only get their ideas off the comic books but X-23 (Laura) was full on white in those, which is why it caught me off guard while watching, I hadn't seen any trailers or anything so Mexican X-23 was a complete surprise to me, seriously I was so caught off guard by that.

I even thought at the end when they had a cross put over his grave thinking "aw that's nice, I thought hollywood hated Christianity", only to then have her put it on its side, cause X-men Big Grin
