The U.S. military has launched more than 50 missiles aimed at Syria, NBC News reported.

A U.S. military official told NBC that 59 tomahawks had been fired, which hit an airfield near Homs.

Earlier Thursday, Reuters reported that a British diplomat had said the United Nations Security Council would not vote on Thursday on a draft resolution to condemn a deadly gas attack on Tuesday in a rebel-held area of northern Syria, but will continue negotiations.

Russia’s deputy U.N. envoy, Vladimir Safronkov, warned that day of “negative consequences” if the U.S. carried out military strikes on Syria over the attack.

“We have to think about negative consequences, negative consequences, and all the responsibility if military action occurred will be on shoulders of those who initiated such doubtful and tragic enterprise,” Safronkov told reporters when asked about possible U.S. strikes, adding that such consequences could be seen in Iraq and Libya.

Western countries have blamed President Bashar al-Assad’s armed forces for Tuesday’s attack in the town of Khan Sheikhoun in a rebel-held area of northern Syria hit by government air strikes. Syria’s government has denied responsibility.

My immediate thought is Trump wants to gain a strategic advantage by muddying the waters, and it's a part of a long term, successful plan and presidency. Be a military guy, make the neo-cons happy too, improve position for negotiations. Boom-boom go a few rockets, and nothing more happens.

Trump needed to herd together a bunch of hardcore supporters to capture the mainstream and the election. He doesn't need to hold hands with them every time they're in public together for 4 years straight, he just needs to make them happy enough for them to vote for him again next term. I mean what's the alternative, Hillary or Chelsea for peace? In fact, telling his supposedly hard core supporters to fuck off and making a few of them passingly angry once in a while might get him a lot closer to all the other traditional players in politics and goverment and actually get stuff done, compared to if they could just stereotype him as some crypto-white power leader.

Probably Trump and Putin were discussing women and trading pics on Skype one day and decided things were boring and they wanted to shake shit up and keep the warmongers from pestering them too much.

If it turns out that Trump is in fact a globalist shill its the greatest swindle in history. The last few days there has been a shift, he's behaving like a warmonger. I am fearful that he is setting himself up to be the man thats going to nuke a country, then all bets are off and we could see a major conflict. Fk sake, Im really disappointed
