I found Lima to be an overall friendly city, but maybe not a place to spend more than 4-5 days in, especially in the cloudy winter. Go north in the winter months for more sun. Lima is a culinary mecca, making it a great place to sample fine cuisine at a decent price with US dollars.

I went with vrbo.com to get an apartment, so I cannot recommend any hotels.

Miraflores/Ameriflores-this is the area around Kennedy park, full of backpackers, the highest concentration of bars, Restaurants.

-Media naranja-brazilian bar at the south end of the park. 2/1 happy hour 4-6. I am told that there are alot of brazilians there on Saturdays. Great place to people watch/daygame.

-Tequila?, this is a basement nightclub, east of the park, i was there on a slow weeknight with another girl, but the bricheras were some of the hottest girls i saw in peru.

-Larcomar-kind of a shame to waste this view on a shitty mall, but there is a bar, called Bartini, with a dancefloor, favorable ratio, I witnessed several average looking gringos being opened by 6-7ish peruanas

Golds gym-ave Benevides. if you work out, this is not a bad place to daygame, 30 soles for a daypass, 99 weekly

Barranco-south of Miraflores, very cool colonial area with alot of bars, less commercial, I spent a weeknight with a girl here, so it was relatively dead, but has alot happening on the weekends-more bohemian

There is not much nightlife in the centro, but worthwhile to check the churches, plaza, chinatown in an afternoon.


Peruanas: I agree with the consensus that they are not the hottest, but there are some stunners to be found. Shorter, some more indigenous/semi asian looking, less curves in general, I managed to find some exceptions. I found them to be very approachable, although being a tall American dude probably didnt hurt with that. I pre-gamed on latin american cupid, and flagged first night from this, I networked a little through cs. All 4 notches were "first date". I had a local claro cell, which cost 60 soles/24 usd.


Misc-you prenegotiate taxis, cost 3-5 soles within miraflores, 5-7 to barranco, 10-12 to centro, 45 to the airport ( take taxi green, others are known for ripping off tourists)

Combis cost 1-1.5 soles, but i never took them without a local

Nearby, i recommend ica, daytrippable, with sand dunes and pisco wineries

Arequipa is supposed to be a cool city

I spent 3 days in trujillo, 2 of which being in a food poisoning induced fever, i dont have very much actual data, but it is 9 hours (nightbus for 40-85- cruz del sur is the best, with wifi) nearby huanchaco beach is beautiful, with an international crowd and great waves, generally recommended by locals over the more touristy and further away Mancora.

How many days did you spend in Lima ?
I'm there now and had a really hard time yesterday at barranca, even though i'm a 6.3 blond guy with good looks and game. Went home alone last night.
Will leave tonight.

This threadtitle was meant to be sarcastic, for me it seemed like I would not gather much more attention if I was carrying an American flag, but maybe some of the more artsy crowd in barranco is less impressed by the anglo look? I didnt actually pull anything at Barranco, just seemed like a chiller vibe.

I saw only ONE other white guy. He was like 6.5 and with dancing with a hot Peruvian girl. Dont know if he met her there or maybe it was his girlfriend.
