Only idiots go ring shopping with a woman. All men should buy a couple of thin books on diamond buying, learn the 4 C's, shop around wholesale for loose diamonds, and try to avoid big box stores.

Going ring shopping with a woman is about as bad as going car shopping with one. The salesman is going to try hard to invoke her hamster and inner feminist by undermining your authority in the relationship. He or she will be asking her what color she wants, how big, start with shit way out of your budget range. Ring shopping is worse, because unlike car shopping, you cannot pull the female salesladies off to the side like a male car salesman and tell her to shut the fuck up and speak only to you, otherwise you will be leaving.

If you stay within sweetspots (SI1-VVS2) with colors like (H-E), and keep it between 2,500-6,000, no reasonable woman would turn that down. If she did, she did you a solid favor anyway.

Most women in some way or another while dating would let you know in alot of ways if they would accept something you buy or not. Asians tend not to care about these things at all, but if I were dating a chick that comes from a culture that does rings, and I made an offer of marriage with one and heard even one complaint about it, I would ask for it back on the spot and next her. No questions asked.

My exwife pulled a similar stunt like this chick did. Some sales bitch from the store I bought it at, while doing a quarterly cleaning on the one I bought her, convinced her to trade it in for a larger ring they were trying to get rid of. Her greedy and ignorant mind jumped all over that. Thing is, they played her like a fiddle. I had bought her a VVS2 with a G color @ 1.5 carats. TK, I agree with you that dudes often go off the deep end with girls here that are perfectly bangable, but I have to disagree in this case. I've watched a few episodes of this show some time ago, and that girl is straight up ugly as fuck, in nearly every way.

Her lip job is comically terrible and over-pumped with whatever they use, her nose job is worse and did nothing to help her face, her tit job looks like it was done by a plastic surgeon brought in from 1992- I haven't seen a modern tit job done that poorly in quite some time - and I've seen plenty - they have that hard, tight, high, downward pointing cheap porno look to them.

Basically nothing is real on this chick, and somehow everything that was done was done in the worst and least complimentary way. The sad thing is she probably looked decent enough without the work back in Russia. I can pinpoint the moment where two of my relationships went south to the moment where I found out how much was expected of me to spend on an engagement ring.

When friends/associates have told me how much they spend on rings, and since I've helped them with financial advice I know how much they make, it's mind blowing.

I know it's purely anecdotal, but two friends that I know are happily married, one spent a reasonable amount, but he had the money and his wife certainly wasn't demanding it. The other spent not much at all, since he was finishing up grad school.
