It has sparkled a quite funny row between politically-correct male journalists, and (politically-correct, too, but...) feminists: Nice to see them at each other's throats

This is not double standards this is SJW outrage by the numbers.

Hamou apologized. Because yeah, he was over the line a bit. In a healthy society, his apology would be met with forgiveness. Maly Thomas would graciously accept the apology, her dignity intact. No one would have to be expelled from any tournaments. We'd reinforce the admittedly fuzzy boundaries about how athletes should behave around cute female reporters.

But in an SJW society driven by the likes of Huffington Post (which appears to be where this shitstorm started), apologies are merely ritual humiliation and admission of guilt. Their role is not to promote decent society, but to push and push controversy as far as it will go.

Come on, guys. He was way over the line with the touching and the kissing. Professional tennis is big on proper off-the-court behavior, especially in dealing with the press. Ever seen Federer acting like that?

So that same should apply to all. She is in her professional lane, she is making her money, you, you gotta respect that and not impede on that. You gotta be respect of people on the clock. Exactly--this guy crossed the line. The first time was fine---solid, light-touch caveman Game. Had it ended there, it would have goosed the ratings a bit---and probably her paycheck. But the guy didn't know when to quit and made the situation especially difficult and awkward because she was doing her job at the time.

Whatever this will blow over---if he starts winning tournaments no one will give a fuck really.

traditional rules. So you hold the door for a woman at a shop or at work, whether
she's your boss or subordinate, and you stand up on the bus for an old or young
woman. Chivalry is a word of French origin, and it's not dead yet.

That's starting to change though, and there is pressure from the top and from
SJWs to change that, especially under Hollande/Macron. That's the context of
this incident, had Hamou kept it to a light kiss and hug he would have gotten
away with it in France (though not in America), and he could have gotten away

I used to play a lot of tennis when I was younger. I also got to know some semi-pros and low-tier pros. In addition I read about some exploits of pros. What Yannick Noah did is probably similar to what other active and former players do. You hear of many very direct advances made by tennis players. Women will always find excuses to fuck rich semi-famous athletes. That is nothing new, what is new however is a specific kind of behavior shown in the example of the diverse French.
