The Mormons are at it again!

(CNN)The popular Filipino tourist site Resorts World Manila is on lockdown after reports of gunfire and explosions.

A masked gunman was on the second floor of one hotel, firing at guests, hotel employees fleeing the scene told CNN Philippines.
Resorts World Manila is currently on lockdown following reports of gunfire from unidentified men.

Police, fire trucks and SWAT teams were seen in the area at about 1:30 a.m. local time Friday. Heavily-armed SWAT officers wearing bullet proof vests and body armor also descended on the scene, Camille Abadicio of CNN Philippines said.

It was not immediately clear how many people may have been injured or killed.
"The company is working closely with the Philippine National Police to ensure that all guests and employees are safe," the resort complex tweeted. "We ask for your prayers during these difficult times."
Resorts World Manila, also known as RWM, is a resort complex in Newport City, a residential and commercial center in metropolitan Manila.
RWM has an array of hotels, restaurants and bars. Tourists flock to the complex for its casino, shopping mall, cinema and theater.


The complex, which is described on RWM's website as "the first and largest integrated resort in the Philippines," is located across from Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Shortly after Friday's incident began to unfold, the US State Department warned citizens to avoid the area.
The Philippines has been grappling with incidents of terrorism, especially on the southern island of Mindanao. There, in the city of Marawi, government forces have been battling ISIS-linked militants for control of the city.

The battle for Marawi, a largely Muslim city, has displaced at least 70,000 residents and left 140 people dead. The terrorist siege began last week, just as Muslims worldwide started to mark the holy month of Ramadan.
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law over the island of Mindanao in light of the crisis. Duterte also suggested he might extend martial law through year's end or impose it nationwide, alarming critics.

Everyone needs more Islam to enjoy the fruits of diversity. The Philippines are barely at 7.5%, but their geography lends itself to the fact that entire enriching vibrant communities can exist and the terrain makes it Vietnam-like to fight back.

Every country will have such wonderfully enriching events with Muslims crossing into 20% population rate - usually much sooner. The religion will keep on giving and giving.

I think Duterte is the right guy to deal with their problem with islamic terror groups. A lot of stick and some carrot. The issues in the Philippines are a bit similar with Russia's problems in Chechnya, because both of these countries have endemic, established muslim communities, the muslims in Mindanoa/Bangsamoro are not immigrants. So the carrot and stick approach works best. Crush the armed groups, clamp down on the radicals while addressing the population's economic and social problems.

As I pointed out in the other thread this was posted in, the official report is that the man shot into the ceiling, set tables on fire, and stole some chips, before eventually lighting himself on fire in an empty hotel room.

All reports are saying that every one of the people killed was caused by suffocating from the smoke while they were trapped inside the building, and most of the injuries are from people trying to flee the building through jumping through windows, off escalators, etc.

The full story is still coming out, but this doesn't look like an Islamic attack on the surface. Why would he purposely shoot into the ceiling and avoid targeting the people inside?

But there's also a possibility that they're trying to avoid scaring the shit out of the populace and foreign tourists.

Resort Worlds is a very popular and fairly high-end establishment, right across from Manila's international airport.
