According to the study, the Neolithic settlers from northern Greece and the Marmara Sea region of western Turkey reached central Europe via a Balkan route and the Iberian Peninsula via a Mediterranean route. These colonists brought sedentary life, agriculture, and domestic animals and plants to Europe. During their expansion they will have met hunter-gatherers who lived in Europe since the Ice Age, but the two groups mixed initially only to a very limited extent. "They exchanged cultural heritage and knowledge, but rarely spouses," commented anthropologist Joachim Burger, who lead the research. "Only after centuries did the number of partnerships increase."

I'm of mostly Scandinavian descent, but I've always had a fond appreciation for all things Greek. I'm glad that this article validates the idea that Europeans are descended from these populations.

Cool, the pieces are coming together. It would make a lot of sense that Europe's first great civilizations, the Minoans, grew locally. We already knew the Minoans (and very possibly Egyptians) were of that "Neolithic Farmer" stock. It now seems that the craddle of Minoan culture was in fact right in Greece.

Greeks are going to like this, particularly because they are so sensitive when people point out the Hellenic civilization was led by invading Nordics with blue eyes and blonde hair.

Still a lot of time to account for between 8500bc and Minoan civilization. Then there's Egypt, which was also Neolithic Farmer DNA judging by latest testing of mummies and if Neolithic Farmer DNA now means proto-Greek, then Egyptians were proto-Greek too.

Now we just need to finally find sunken Atlantis on the Mid-Atlantic ridge and then we can explain pyramids in Egypt and Meso-America.

Greek is one of the first, if not the first, indo-european languages. Linguistically, it is very similar to Aramaic, the language in which the bible was written in. The word alphabet is Greek, and it combines the terms alpha and beta. Jesus is described in the bible as being the alpha and the omega: the first and the last. He could often be a leader at times, hence being an alpha, but he could also be an omega because he would often subvert his own interests so that others could live more fortunately.

As for genetics, every European is descended from 3 tribal groups: Western European Hunter and Gatherers, the Yamna culture of Ukraine and Russia, and the Neolithic Mediterranean populations that spread agriculture throughout Europe. In genetic groups you see a lot of genetic congruity between North and South. For example, the genetic group R1b is just about as common as it is in Southern Spain as it is in Germany. It is also quite frequently seen in Scandinavian populations.

As for gene expression, a lot of Mediterraneans are carriers of recessive genes like light hair and blue eyes. Take some celebrities as an example: the blue eyed Jennifer Aniston and John Stamos are both half Greek, the blue-eyed Martin Sheen (Estevez) and Kimberly Guilfoyle are half Spanish, Edie Falco and Frank Sinatra (Old Blue Eyes) are Italian. There is also much talk that the Irish are descended from the Galicians in Northwest Spain. In fact, the term Gaelic is very similar to Galicia, and they've also found several Celtic settlements there.

Spaniards are said to to have some Visogothic DNA. The Visogoths were a tribe of nomadic Germanic peoples that had kingdoms in Spain and Italy. If we look at the Spanish Throne today, we see a lot of similarity with Northern European populations.

As for Northern Europeans, it is not all that entirely common to see Norwegians, Swedes, or Danes with dark hair or dark. All my grandparents are of Germanic lineage, and they all have are natural brunettes. Also, I've often mistook some Germanic people for being French or Spanish.

Genetic scientists and anthropologists have also found a concrete link between Sardinians and Cypriots and existing Swedish populations. They found a skeleton in Sweden that was genetically different from Western European hunter and gatherers from the same period. They also found that modern Swedish populations were genetically different from ancient Western European hunter and gatherers. They eventually came to the conclusion that the two populations mixed to form the modern Swedish population. As for artifacts, they've found that a lot of copper and bronze artifacts from the Nordic bronze age came out of Sardinian and Iberian peninsula.

They are both intriguing groups. I personally don't know a lot about Eastern Europe much. The history of Eastern Europe wasn't taught much in schools. I might have to brush up on them more. Can you recommend any good works or stories?

I've been studying wine for years and the historical aspect is consistent with the spread of civilisation.

When most people think wine they imagine France, maybe Italy, but Greece would be a more accurate origin point (although there is evidence of the world's oldest winery being elsewhere - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of...red_Winery)

^ Interesting thing is that even in Bronze Age nordic Europe they had wine, imported from the South, but grown locally. Climate was warmer back then. There's been extensive trade networks for thousands of years in all of Europe and as far as India. Bronze age!

I have been studying European ancestry for several years and all cues pinpoint to Eastern Anatolia and modern day Armenia and Georgia as the place of origin of all European nations.

Several years ago archaeologists made a huge discovery that remained under the radars of MSM because it doesn't fit the narrative that all of us originated from Africa. Europeans don't have one origin but 3 as described and my guess is that the variation of the "proto-european" is down to being isolated from each other during the ice age. We know there were several places of refuge such as France/Iberia and Balkans, but also Near East and possibly Armenia, so some ten thousands of years separated the proto-european into different people, who then met again when the ice subsided. Cool story really.



I am personally coming around to believing in Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean, the Atlantic Ridge, but that's details



Of course, it is strange how Cro-Magnon suddenly arises in Western Europe and Africa near the Atlantic coast with massive brains (larger than any living population), taller than all pre-modern population and with a highly sophisticated culture of musical instruments, art, woven cloth even brain surgery!
