So right now I"m not in a serious relationship.. but who knows it could be serious at some point. So she dropped the question if she could get a tattoo and how since age 18 she wanted one and she forgot, but currently a coworker got a tattoo and she wants to get the same.

So of course since I'm against tattoo as I think they are trashy no matter how cute or small I excised my standing as a male. I gave her a stern NO.

She said that it is her body and that I'm being controlling. I responded by stating, that I already said I disagree and in case you get it that means you don't care about my opinion, I said that I don't take women with tattoo's seriously, end of discussion. we continued to talk and she was disappointed and decided to go to bed.

How would you guys approached this situation? In case she gets it, I'm dropping her the second I see her, I won't be disrespected like that.

If you're that much against it i probably would have said something along the lines of, "go ahead and get one but I'm not going to date a girl with tattoos".

But we know very little of the situation and such.

I think honesty and not "control" is a better call.
Something along the lines of :
You asked me if you should get a tattoo and I said *no*. If its your choice then why ask me as if I was your owner. My opinion is that it is a pretty stupid idea, but hey do whatever you want with your body byt don't expect me validate you/being your enabler"

Personally I wouldn't care depending on what it was. Even though tats are usually a slut tell, some get them for dead friends and relatives and many other reasons.. What kind of tattoo is she getting?

However, if you don't want to date girls with tattoos ..don't. There are plenty w/o them. So drop her if she gets one.

Also, FYI this girl is not a side piece (at least in her mind) if she thinks you're being controlling.

Right she asked for my opinion I was so surprised she labeled me as controller.

She was considering getting some Micky Mouse based design, which is ridiculous and serves no purpose whatsoever just immature.

It's possible that she is testing you and you are failing the test.

It's possible that you like her more than you are leading us to believe with statements like "I do keep a side piece on deck in case I want to get that "release" but other than that. not much else"

It's possible that you are an angry guy and you are making this much more complicated than it needs to be because you are looking for something to be angry about.

I really don't know. Those are just guesses. I think you have to be honest with yourself and with us about how much you like this girl and how serious the relationship is.

How serious does she thinks the relationship is? Is it possible that she is confused about that?

Tell her that she's free to do whatever she wants, but you'll find her less attractive.

If you forbid her from doing something she's almost guaranteed to do it. By telling her that she's free to do whatever, she's got nothing to rebel against. If you tell her she'll be less attractive, she's likely to call you an asshole, but she's less likely to get the tat.

I wouldn't even include the threat in there, it's unnecessary. It sounds like you are actually controlling, and a little petty if you'd dump a girl just because she gets a tattoo. If she's not wife/LTR material then who cares?
