A new very large survey on expats opinions of best and worst places to live and work for quality has made the business press. Europe and East Asia tend to rank highest, as well as select Latin American nations - which most readers here will agree.

Some 13,000 expats from 166 nationalities were surveyed. (The US and UK were in decline before elections this year and last, apparently - ergo, recent political events don't enter into these results.)

Here's an outline of the source and purpose of the survey:

It aims to capture the views of millions of executives, skilled workers, students and retirees who live outside the country where they grew up. They often have a choice of where they want to live, and their opinions matter to countries that want to attract talented and affluent people.

I agree with the Ukraine rating, insert these peoples brain into a bird and that bird wont be able to fly. The service industry is a joke here

This has been pointed out before about InterNations surveys. They are flawed due to limited sample size and methodology. It basically amounts to an internet poll from an informal expat network where for the most part people (and we have no idea about their background, how much they earn and how much of their happiness stems from job satisfaction and pay - because that is really the only way you can explain Bahrain in there) will vote for whatever country they happen to be in.

Remember, a lot of those "expats" are women.
