Man gets 2.5 years in prison for fake Snapchat profile
http://nypost.com/2017/10/24/man-busted-...en-online/

Quote:A Tennessee man who pleaded guilty to charges of extorting women by posing as a University of Tennessee football player on a mobile messaging app has received a 30-month prison sentence.

Brandon Douglas Shanahan, of Sweetwater, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to two counts of interstate communications with intent to extort.

Prosecutors said Shanahan used the name “Camsutton2323” on Snapchat last year and made women believe he was former Tennessee cornerback Cameron Sutton, now a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie. Shanahan then tried to extort the women into sending him nude photos.

He created a fake profile and girls willfully sent him nudes. I don't see how this qualifies as extortion.

Legal definition of extortion;
`the crime of obtaining money or some other thing of value by the abuse of one's office or authority.`

I agree, it`s just plain gullibility on part of these women.
You might as well put door to door salesmen in jail when people
regret their purchases.

It doesn't mention specifically if he demanded money or had other demands which would hen make it extortion.

Regardless getting nudes under false pretenses is something that should be punished as should using another person's identity to engage in something like this. If i go to a bank using someone's ID and look like them and the bank willfully gives me money from their account, it's still a crime.

RE: Man gets 2.5 years in prison for fake Snapchat profile
I'm in the camp that it's different with regards to money or other property and dollar-value goods versus social interaction. Is it illegal to lie? Is it illegal to mislead people into think you are someone else? Context and discretions is important here.

Extortion is the wrong word here. Fraud would be more like it, but I still think the case is weak at best. Maybe if the guy was posing as some sort of modeling agency rep or some other fraudulent position promising these women some sort of business or payment for sending him explicit photos, then there could be a case there, but a dude lying about himself to win favors from women casually and candidly? Millions of men (and women) do that across the world every day...

Per another site:

"“Camsutton2323” told the victim he would post the alleged nude photos on social media unless she took more nude photos and sent them to her. "

If that is true, then the punishment is certainly just.

Agreed.

This reminds me of a guy in Seatle WA. who setup a fake porn casting couch and then started to blackmail some of the women he slept with by claiming he would release their explicit pictures/videos to the public. A few years later he got fucked by the law for doing that when some of the women finally made complaints.

Facepalm

Tom Leykis / Leykis 101:

-Never do what you don't want to do. You make the money, you decide where you are going and what you are doing.
-Don't ask a woman what she wants to do.
-Never get involved with a co-worker unless you don't mind losing your job over it.
-Never spend more than $40 on a date. If possible, let her pay for everything or 50/50.
-If she doesn't bang you by the third date, Dump That Bitch (DTB).
-No spooning, cuddling, hugging, or staying over. Get in, get out!
-Never be in a committed relationship UNTIL you are 25+ or really ready to settle down.
-Men age like fine wine, women age like milk.

I think there was a thread about that.

I don't understand why in age of free porn a guy would ask for nudes from girls at all.

I think if he asked just to meet them and then his fraud would be discovered he wouldn't be charged guilty at least to the same degree, because nudes is probably seen by court as a material to blackmail later.

Yet another example of the feminized kangaroo courts going overboard. Common sense would say don't send nudes if you don't know the person you're talking to. It's their own hypergamy to blame for their situation. They should try acting like a lady for a change instead of some sex crazed freak. 99% of women pursue 5% of men very aggressively, and then complain there are no good men or turn into man hating freaks when they are predictably rejected or pumped and dumped, if they are good looking enough. What progress we have made as a society! tard

Let's imagine a fat woman puts up a picture of a swimsuit model on her profile. A bunch of men send her dick pics. Do you think she will get arrested for that?

Also, what would have happened if the guy had sent those nude pictures to the parents of the girls?

If she used those dick pics to blackmail the men, then yes. If the men reported her and their was evidence to support the claims, the police would certainly arrest her.

I get the hate for how the justice system railroads guys in many cases involving male/female relations BUT this isn't one of those times.

He was blackmailing her. Its a scum bag thing to do to anyone male or female.
Yeah she probably shouldn't have sent the nudes but on the other hand she reasonably thought he would be the only person seeing them.
And definitely wasn't thinking he would turn around and use them against her.

I wish the court system would show the same vigor for convicting people who dox and publicly assassinate the character of people who hold views that go against the consensus, which is more or less the same kind of "blackmail" the SJW pawns use to police the agenda of the elites. Protecting some bimbo who will flash her goods to random men she's never spoken to shouldn't be too high on our court systems list of priorities or even be on it at all. My tax dollars are paying for prosecuting cases like these and I don't support this anti-male bull crap.

Also, it's not like he just made up a lie about himself saying that he was some kind of modeling agent for example. He impersonated an actual person, and I'm sure that football player is glad to see justice being served. The football player may also want to get the contact info of those chicks.

Its the kick he gets. Its easy to fap to porn. Nice age we live when you get 2,5 years for faking snapchat profile but I see pedo's raping little boys and after 1 year some lefty women psychiatrist lets him out. (cause he had a troubled childhood bruh) and months later he does it again.
