Portuguese Court: Assaulting An 'Adulterous' Ex-Wife Doesn't Merit Jail Time
http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2...court-says
Saw this spread around on social media by the leftist pigeons that I'm roosting, with dumb comments mocking the right about Sharia law being the real threat to the West.
Quote:A Portuguese man convicted of assaulting his ex-wife will face no jail time — after an appeals court, citing the fact that his former wife was "adulterous," and noting that the Bible calls for adulterous women to be put to death, upheld his suspended sentence.
The judges called adultery a "serious attack" on a man's "dignity."
The decision has sparked outrage in Portugal.
According to Esquerda, the victim of the violent beating was, indeed, having a brief affair, which she decided to end. The man then told her husband about the relationship. Both men began directing death threats toward the woman, Esquerda writes. Then, working together, they attacked her; the scorned former sexual partner kidnapped her, then her husband, who had since divorced her, violently beat her.
The Associated Press has more on the case:
"The [husband[ was given a 15-month suspended sentence and a fine of 1,750 euros ($2,000) for using a bat spiked with nails to assault the woman in the street in 2015, leaving her covered in cuts and bruises.
"The prosecutor had argued the sentence was too lenient and asked an appeals court for prison time of 3 years and 6 months. But the appeal judges on Oct. 11 rejected his request."
In their decision, the judges explicitly said the woman's extramarital affair justified leniency toward her attacker. Portugal Resident reports:
"Quoting passages from the Bible, and citing cultures where adulterous women are stoned to death, judges Neto de Moura and Maria Luísa Abrantes ruled that 'the adultery of a woman is a very serious attack on the honour and dignity of (her) man.' ...
"Indeed, the Porto appeal court duo stressed that 'in the Bible, we can read that an adulterous woman should be punished with death.'
"It's a judgement that has sparked outrage over social media - many commentators complaining that it takes the whole issue of gender equality back to the Dark Ages."
In the decision, the judges also cited an 1886 Portuguese law that called for a merely symbolic penalty for any man who kills his wife after finding her committing adultery.
They cited the biblical and legal precedent "to stress that a woman's adultery amounts to conduct which society has always condemned and condemned very strongly," according to an AP translation.
The judges further said the victim's "disloyalty" and "sexual immorality" drove her ex-husband into a depression, which was another factor in favor of leniency.
Reuters reports that a rally is planned to protest the ruling:
"The UMAR Women's Union for Alternative and Response called the verdict in Portugal's second-largest city "revolting" and said it perpetuated "the ideology of victim-blaming".
" 'Evoking the Bible does not combine with the rule of law in our country and discredits the judicial norms,' UMAR said in a statement. ...
"UMAR and the feminist movement Por Todas Nos (For all of Us Women) called a protest rally in downtown Lisbon for Friday. Protests were also called in Porto under the slogan 'Male chauvinism is not justice, but crime.'
"Ultra-orthodox patriarchy - one of the cornerstones of the fascist dictatorship of Antonio Salazar up until the 1974 revolution - still survives in parts of Portugal."
Maybe I should retire in Portugal. I heard that they tried to get refugees to come and reserved 5000 spots for it, but none of them went, so I guess they're still free from cultural enrichment.

I don't condone what he did but if men were allowed to stomp a mudhole in a misbehaving wife like in times past then we'd have less adultury, divorce and we'd be treated with respect. The trouble these days is there is no fear factor, without fear there is no respect, without respect there is no relationship

I am here ))) This is fucked up.
It only shows how utter garbage our justice system is, and and how there is an overall sense of impunity in the air. When homicide suspects get as coercion measure only term od identity and residence, enough said, when also our former PM and Bankers who led the country to bankrupcy stealing all they could, also get the same measure, when the solidarity funds of millions of euros for the displaced and families of the deceased in the tragedy of the fires this summer in the centre of the country simply "disappear"...
Portugal is the best country in the world to be a criminal. Our justice system is totally fucked up, with minor offenses like drunk driving (whitout accidents involved) getting efective prison terms...and two guys conspiring beating a woman with a baseball bat with spikes get nothing...What a bunch of losers anyway who cant beat a woman with their own hands....
It is great that the rapefugees dont want to stay here. Otherwise Sweden would be a totalitarian state in comparison to the Portuguese courts sentences.

Amen, battering the fuck out of a woman for sleeping around sounds like a step in a dark direction for the country of Portugal.

RE: Portuguese Court: Assaulting An 'Adulterous' Ex-Wife Doesn't Merit Jail Time
Years ago, I was teaching at a school and we read the Greek play, Medea. For those who don't know, it's about a man (Jason) that cheats on his wife (Medea). So what does she do for revenge? Simple...kills both his children.
It was amazing how many girls in the class agreed with Medea's decision: "Sure, it sucks that children have to die, but that jerkface had it coming!" I was shocked. Nice young girls with sweet dispositions...all ready to exact the bloodiest of revenge upon an unfaithful man. The shocking thing lies not in the story of Medea, but in female reaction - and justification - of it.
That taught me a lesson: we as men are the ones with mercy. We are the ones who instill the virtue of forgiveness and "turn the other cheek." Women on the other hand...I'm afraid that most have a fearful desire for revenge.

This is true, we men must be merciful ones, but for women not to abuse this men must be able, I would even say it is man's duty to commit symbolic nominal acts of vengeance which are aimed more to humiliate and shame rather then physically hurt the transgressing woman. Slapping and spanking and verbal shaming falls under this. Beating up a woman with a spiked mace is too much.
But in this age of imbalance of powers on the woman's side I am not complaining that some bitch got more then she deserved, because men get more then they deserve all the time.

RE: Portuguese Court: Assaulting An 'Adulterous' Ex-Wife Doesn't Merit Jail Time
It seems this crime was premeditated and out of revenge; two butt hurt individual cowardly put together a secret plan to give another human a lesson; come on, a spiked baseball bat to beat a cheating spouse? That is not the power and influence you want to have from a leader; because real men inspire admiration, not fear.
A list of types of power popular in academic circles, by French and Raven, and how the types of power affects a person's leadership and success in organizations:
Coercive Power
Reward Power
Legitimate Power
Referent Power
Expert Power
1. Coercive Power - This form of power is based upon the idea of coercion. This means that someone is forced to do something against their will. The main objective of coercion is compliance.
2. Reward Power - This type of power involves the ability of individuals to delegate matters they do not wish to do to other people and to reward them for this.
3. Legitimate Power - Legitimate power is usually based on a role. People always run with the pack and traditionally obey the one person with power which is solely based on their position or title. Rewarding and punishing people can be seen as a legitimate part of the formal or appointed leadership role.
4. Referent Power - The leader in this form of power is often seen as a role model. Their power is often treated with admiration or charm. This power emanates from a person that is highly liked and people identify strongly with them in some way.
5. Expert Power - This form of power is based on in-depth information, knowledge or expertise. These leaders are often highly intelligent and they trust in their power to fulfill several roles and responsibilities. This ability enables them to combine the power of reward in the right mode.
A violent person with a hurt ego, no apathy, and coercive power is a very dangerous individual. If you are a man, you should work towards excellence, not towards power at "all costs", because "power at all costs" will lead a men to lose power over himself, and he becomes nothing.
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

Why should your wife have to fear an asskicking from you? If the only thing keeping her with you is fear of a beating, then what's the point of it all?
You should be asking yourself the same question in America:
Piss women off and they'll call the cops on you, and you'll be looking at getting your ass beat by the boys in blue. Men are forced to respect women in the West, yet it doesn't seem to stop women from enjoying alpha males now does it? If women can enjoy men despite having fake respect from them, then why cannot men enjoy women even if women are only doing so out of fear?
This also does not address the heart of the matter; why should anyone be entitled to respect from anyone else? The fact is, most people aren't programmed that way.
You may as well ask why we need to have punishment for murderers. If people won't stop killing each other except fear of the law, then what's the point of it all (civilization)?
So your question is ridiculous.
Either women are at the mercy of men, or men are at the mercy of women. No such thing as balance between the sexes.
It's better in a world where the men have power because at least the men who are just end up creating big beautiful civilizations, when women have power marriages, families, and countries fall apart.
That said, there's no reason to beat a woman with a spiked bat. That is homicidal, not corporal punishment.

It is great that the rapefugees dont want to stay here. Otherwise Sweden would be a totalitarian state in comparison to the Portuguese courts sentences.
They weren´t acquited. They got a suspended sentence/probation. The judge based the suspension on the fact the psychology reports made by state social services were favourable to both defendants. They had overcomed the trauma of being cheated.
He also took into account one of the defendants had medical treatment of depression after realizing he was being cheated. He was diagnosed with a severe depression by doctors. And checked in voluntarily in hospital.
Both have new woman in their lives now.
They didn´t hit her with sticks with nails. The weapon was found in the search warrant of their houses. With many other objects. As guns, etc. They assaulted her but didn´t hit her with this weapon nails. If they did she would be dead.
In fact comparing with general punishments for assaults the sentence is harsh. Generally speaking this type of assaults only is punished with a fine without criminal record. If it´s the first time. Not suspension/probation. If the agressor has a clean record. Which was the case.
Even by common law standards domestic violence is generally punished with probation.
Chris Brown was sentenced to 5 year probation. And Rihanna also took a good beating.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/art...Brown.html
The mistake of the judge was citing the bible. This is were he fucked up. Because citing the bible by itself is now a criminal offense in the west.
The sentence is subscribed also by a woman judge Maria Arantes.
Portuguese prime minister already spent 12 months in jail without a trial. What are you saying???
He went to jail because when he was in office he cut judges vacation time to 1 month (which was 2,5 month) and salaries. He will probably serve jail time. Unless judges are raised. There´s an arm wrestling between judges and other bodies of power in Portugal.
