Just moved to Bay Area, see a lot of guys out here working for FANG companies, successful career, but no action to speak of. "I have high standards" (But hasn't hooked up with a girl in 3 years.) What's the story?

For those who have lived here / visit here, why are so many guys complaining the dating scene is the worst? So far girls here are much more receptive to people outside their circle than in the Southeast.

However, I agree, i'm just appreciating the fact that women are genuinely more pleasant to talk to than back east. Whether this translates into bangs is questionable and is why guys complain about it.

I'll take friendly day to day interactions over the pissed off sour moods of the east coast anyday.

The Bay Area is a goddamn post-apocalyptic dystopia. Inside SF it's high rent, high traffic, lots of bums and streets are dirty. Outside SF it's high traffic, high sprawl, enormous cost of living everywhere and a billion year a day commutes.

I can't speak to wtf is up with the dating scene but the mass influx of noobed-up men isn't good for it - 80%+ dudes is bad for a society.

Don't go there is my recommendation.

7. Sparse foot traffic for daygame. I've walked around Union Square for several HOURS before and not seen a single girl worth opening.

I can say this with authority: SF is the worst city in the US for a single man, and I have lived in and visted many.

The only silver lining is that if you can make it here, going anywhere else in the world will be a breath of fresh air.

I moved up from SoCal last year with a large increase in salary and job prestige.

It's been brutal. Feminist traits run strong. I've gotten plenty of notches up here, really no change in notch quantity. The problem is that they are boring and lukewarm and have nothing interesting to say. And THEY ARE NOT SEXY! Even the foreign chicks seem afflicted. I'm not sure if it's the weather, the politics, or the demographics, but it's a huge departure from what I experienced in SoCal. Most boring women ever. It is not FUN.

I'm packing it up this spring. Fuck this place. The rent is too damn high.

It’s mind blowing just how awful California is for single men. Someone should do an in-depth study to figure out what’s worse: LA or SF? They’re both terrible for game, but for entirely different reasons.

Do you want attractive women who are extremely flaky and arrogant or do you want ugly women but a bit more foot traffic? Both cities are major ripoffs too.

Sounds almost exactly like NZ. 2 isn't true in exactly the same way, they more binge drink and overeat/abuse their bodies, instead of being feminist in general. 4 doesn't seem all that true here either but if there's no hotties then who cares if the male competition is soft?

Yeah, LA is probably the only city in the US that gives SF a run for "worst" for the average guy.

Sydney and Auckland are supposedly the two cities internationally that are on par or worse than SF. I'd compare Sydney to LA and Auckland to SF.

100% agreed. I match lots of foreign girls because I speak multiple languages and indicate so on my profile. SF attracts the ugliest foreigners I've seen out of any city I've been to. Try matching one au pair that isn't fat.

Foreign girls anywhere are almost always scum. Why do girls typically leave their countries?

- They're ambitious "alpha" women (insufferable).
- They feel constrained by their original homeland and/or want to have "adventures" (sluts).
- They don't like the dating market in their homelands (narcissistic or ugly girls looking for thirstier males).
- They can't get a job in their homelands (either incompetent or desperate for opportunities, which isn't inherently bad but is still a red flag).

Every time I see a Brazilian girl in a foreign country with a foreign boyfriend, I chuckle. I just know she's probably a slut. Date them in Brazil, don't date them abroad.

The kind of girl who would dream of emigrating to the Bay Area is the worst I can possibly imagine. Why would a normal girl want to emigrate to a place that's populated by a bunch of progressive nerdy types?

I agree that SF is bad but there are plenty of attractive, slim girls around in the downtown, marina, Russian hill and even inner sunset neighborhoods.

It is also fairly easy to make a quick intro. That trouble is what comes after - the Uber feminist attitudes makes you want to run away and NOT even ask for a number.

If you can break through that ‘inner’ issue of the non-sense talk, you will get numbers and a few dates. Bangs may also be on the menu but it’s really the luck of draw of how much she hates guys that day (because all the girls hate guys in SF).

In sum of you are a proper sociopath and just stick to your game you will do okay. If you have the slightest bit of common sense this city will not be good to you.

Someone else summed it up here as SF girls are lonely, bitter and feisty but not unattractive.

I've been living in SF for awhile and can agree to most of the above. I've been to both Sydney and Auckland as well, I think Sydney is definitely better and Auckland might be around the same (though I was only there for a few days).

If you try to date any girls here, expect these very liberal attitudes to come out (unless she's a transplant from some deep red area) and have to deal with them. This city is great for stacking paper when you're young and have the energy, but for women there are way better choices in this country (NYC, Miami, Vegas etc.) and obviously abroad as well.
