Slotting this in Everything Else as we're not discussing political topics. He just happens to be a politician.

I can't keep track of Oz scandals when I'm overseas so much, but basically a rural conservative leader (and Deputy Prime Minister) bonked his then/former media adviser and she fell pregnant around that time. Everyone presumed he was the father. He resigned from the party leadership and Deputy Prime Ministership, but not Parliament.

The Left has continuously attacked him, as he was anti-gay marriage.

What we didn't know back when the scandal first broke is that he's not even sure if the mistress' kid is his. Nevertheless, he's saying he won't get a paternity test and will raise the child as his own:

This is the same guy who was a revelation when he first entered politics in Australia. He took on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and didn't give a flying fuck when the usual suspects in Hollywood and other leftist circles attacked him.

But he's willing to raise (and pay for) the child of a woman who evidently has slept around, without being sure the progeny is his?

Two blue eyed ethnic Europeans making black babies. Give me a break. If the kid had anything other then blue eyes when both the parents have blue eyes I would be suspicious, much less if the kid was a completely different race.

Ms Fasano, who is white, gave birth to a black child and a judge ordered that she should hand the infant over to his biological parents.

In Holland, suspicions were raised when a woman called Wilma Stuart, who is white, gave birth to dark-skinned twins in 1993.

DNA tests showed the hospital had mistakenly mixed sperm from her husband with that of a black man from the Dutch Antilles. She kept the twins.

Compared to BJ himself she is younger ,hotter ,tighter.Not my cup of tea but he has done better.Which is a major crime in OZ.He also has like 4 daughters no son.If he got a dna test it would not be good politically as "you can't question women'.Not to mention men's groups have asked for manditory testing.It would fuck the welfare state and both parties said no to dna testing.Too expensive they reckon.

The truth probably is that he already knows through previously testing the child but it is politically palatable to virtue signal the way he did. You can even send anonymous test kits overseas.

He could win white knight of the century if the kid he agreed to raise is a black autist with down syndrome.

I don't know why he just wouldn't get a test on the down low once the kid is born. Perhaps he will and he is just being publicly politically correct or trying to get whatever mileage he can out of this mess. Although he is the one who raised doubt on the kids paternity in the first place, which is strange.
The whole thing is a mess for him and surely could have been played a lot better.
