Belgian man fined 3,000 euros for sexist remark
Man becomes first person convicted of sexism under new Belgian law

Quote:A man has been convicted of sexism in a public place for the first time under a new law in Belgium.

A court in Brussels fined him €3,000 for insulting a police officer because of her gender, Le Soir reported.

It comes as France prepares to create an offence of street harassment, described as “sexist and sexual outrage”.

The Belgian case involved a driver who was stopped for breaking the highway code. The young man – who has not been identified – insulted the police officer because of her gender, the court heard.

He was reported to have said she would be better off doing a job “adapted to women”, in a scene witnessed by several other people.

The driver was found guilty of three charges: contempt of a police officer, making threats and sexist remarks in public, and a serious violation of another person’s dignity because of her gender.

He was warned that if he failed to pay the fine, a prison term of a month would be imposed.

“This is the first time we have used this law to prosecute someone,” said Gilles Blondeau, spokesman for the public prosecutor's office. “It is quite common for people arrested by the police to insult and threaten. But to personally blame a policewoman because of her sex is different.

“It was a good case to test this law: a concrete and very clear case, with many witnesses. This is obviously not always the case.”

The law arose out of a widespread social debate in Belgium in 2012, after a documentary entitled Women of the Street revealed commonplace sexism in public. It showed a woman being insulted and receiving unsolicited proposals and hisses as she walked in Brussels.

Under the law, any behaviour expressing “contempt towards a person, because of their sexuality” or treating a person as “inferior or as reduced essentially to their sexual dimension“, which entails a serious attack on their dignity is punishable by up to a year in prison and/or a fine.

All I can say is... American

Hate on the US all you want, but we are a long way off from this level of tyranny.

He should immediately claim that he's Muslim to get away with the cultural differences plea.

I used to think men were exaggerating when they said that feminism is the state religion of the West.

It is hard to deny that it is the heretical off-shoot of materialist humanism that has not only surpassed the original orthodoxy but come to dominate all secular piety.

There will be less grace afforded to the offenders of modern blasphemy laws. Just watch.

The tables are going to be turned alot quicker than people think.

When Belgian men realize that some chick who used him for drinks and dinner and made a comment that could be considered remotely sexist, the tables will turn.

The guy said to the policewoman ‘I don’t talk to women’ (but this is only published in the Dutch speaking press). He’s very likely a Muslim.

It just all about money. Government loves SJWs, because they can make more and more laws and extort money from the population.

I refuse calling these things "laws", they are simply extortion. This is why politicians have to be hanged from the lamppost time to time.

Money and control.

You basically outlaw virtually everything and then levy an avalanche of small to medium fines against anyone who campaigns against government power while leaving the statists alone to forward even more government control, regardless of whether they're breaking the same rules.

This is why I don't respect laws. These laws people hold up in such high regard are just social conventions and change without much thought or scrutiny. It changes like the wind on the whims of people in power.

Men should either fight this or withdraw from these societies.

This harsh fine could be because of a zero tolerance policy:

http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.englis.../1.3097815

Quote:Justice minister Geens and Home minister Jambon are drawing up an action plan together with the Brussels authorities and the security services. Belgian prosecutors are also issuing a circular about zero tolerance with regard to violence directed at the police.

Justice minister Geens: "Together with prosecutors we must act against rioters. Prevention should go hand in hand with repressive measures. The police must take the lead."

He must have been a lighter skinned more successful Muslim - usually they let it slide. They should start suing all the incoming refugees to Belgium. Entire quarters in Brussels only have insults against female police officers. One afternoon will net them millions of fines, but that would be racist, wouldn't it?

And they had other reports out there where the guy screamed that they singled him out because he was brown!

He should have raped the police officer - they give lower punishments for those crimes than for insults.

I feel like if you're going to pay three grand for insulting a woman, you should take a couple minutes to come up with something better.

RE: Belgian man fined 3,000 euros for sexist remark
< The thing is this. Many European countries have laws against insulting police officers. In Germany and Austria up until the big diversity push it was standard that even if you called a cop in the street a Nazi asshole, then this was called "insult of an officer" - Beamtenbeleidigung and thus you would be fined for it. If you want to call him names, then you would have to wait until he is out of uniform and then unleash insults at him right in front of the police station. That is your right as a citizen, but so long as he is on duty, he represents the law and this tarnishes the authority of the executive branch if anyone can call officers names as they do their duty.

Of course nowadays the new refugees and many Muslims are calling cops all kinds of names starting with whore, Nazi or dirty sluts or pig-eaters. That is why the indictment here is strange, because they usually let it slide with Muslims. Possibly that he did it in a public space and the cops could not allow this to happen as dozens of folk were watching it happen.

But usually in some Muslim areas they are even spitting at police officers. So I would say that it is a rare incident where they could not bow to the superior Muslim shitheads.

Is it possible that this law is directed at preventing immigrants from refusing to deal with women government workers? I think that most people on this forum wouldn't say "I don't talk to women" if stopped by a lady cop. That's not a red pill thing to say.

It's still a shitty law that's ripe for abuse, but it might have come as a result of an immigration issue and the Belgians trying to prevent becoming the next Iran.

No - those laws existed for decades - usually since WWII or before. The misogyny statement was part of the insult. Based on that law - if I say to a German cop: "I don't talk to dirty Kuffars, get me a Muslim and I will talk!" Then this would constitute also an insult and he can book you.

But as I said - 99,99% they won't even bother with them. Though - if a local does this, then it's a different thing.

RE: Belgian man fined 3,000 euros for sexist remark
We thankfully have the 1st Amendment here in the US-- but don't say it can never happen. It can happen, much like it did to our Canadian cousins-- it was only fairly recently that they've implemented hate speech laws, and so on. Marxist liberals are eager to criminalize dissident thought in the interests of promoting diversity and getting minority group votes. Millennials are in favor of these laws, overwhelmingly.

The emergence of parallel legal structures for minorities in Europe is troubling. Minority? No punishment for you (it was oppression that made you do it) Never mind the fact that we're so welcoming we let you come here... that's the reality and the authorities are actually delegitimizing themselves and the power structures they represent. If you can't punish someone when they violate the law, that's an indication of a failed society/ government. All these countries are orderly countries that are generally more safe than the US, the irony of course, is leadership there is responsible for decent into anarchy.

Also was gonna suggest he was North African/ Muslim, your average Belgian isn't going to refuse to interact with a female government official. From what I understand is that it's really bad in the immigrant communities there-- don't forget that Belgian Intelligence failed to make themselves aware of the radical islamists in their cities pre-Paris attack.

< I would not say that the laws are some kind of Marxist hate-speech. Seems that a lot of it went back even to Bismarck time back when the societies were very Red Pill and masculine. It's something uniquely European and Germanic to show respect towards police officers. As I said - you could scream all you wanted at politicians and call them morons and idiots, but cops at duty were another matter.

Yes I understand. There does seem to be more deference to authority in the Germanic countries over there. It is some fascinating stuff. Was over there with family and a family member proudly remarked to me about recycling and all the different bins and the fines--like it was a point of national pride for them! They pointed out a bus sign to me that had the fines on it for anti-social behavior: smoking, eating, drinking, etc, and said, "I bet you won't see one of these in serbia." They were like innately aware of the differences and I burst out laughing. The Germans do have a sense of humor!

This law was brought in to combat street heckling by North African Muslims, but as per usual it's going to be applied to all men no matter how minor the infraction. Globalist-neoliberal multiculturalism is the worst ideology ever invented. The fact it needs such authoritarian top-down control to 'work' proves it's completely unnatural to the order of things.

One facet of authoritarian, postmodern, cultural Marxist, identity politics is that one's group identity is paramount, which means that the authorities end up being forced to choose which groups are more "oppressed" or "protected" than other groups.

So, it appears that in Belgium, being a woman is considered more protected than being a male Muslim (if this guy was Muslim). If the Muslim community was to protest this to the EU, then I think it would put the EU and Belgian government in an awkward position, because it would be forcing them to publicly decide which group is more special, and lately the liberal establishment has been elevating Muslims above women.

This. If everything is illegal and the simple act of living automatically makes you break dozens of laws, then the power and reach of corruption is vastly enhanced - anyone who gets their hands on the central authority will automatically abuse it by letting some people go scot-free and bringing the hammer down on others. This then leads to the total breakdown of respect for law and societal decay.
