Hello everyone, first heard of Roosh and the forum through Davis Aurini's live streams. Been lurking the forums and doing research on game for a few months now. I'm by no means good at it, but I'm not completely clueless as far as I can tell. I recently graduated college and had some success with picking up girls when I was a student, though I never took it further than a date or hanging out (even when I could) for various reasons. Spent most of my time trying to graduate early though, since college was a hell hole. Looking back as of late I feel like that was kind of stupid on my part to not talk to women more often and I only got out a semester early.

Since graduating I've been doing a lot of self-improvement as well, such as going to the gym almost daily so I can get ripped, and brushing up on a foreign language again.

With that said, I was wondering what some good types of places to practice game would be? Do girls find it more attractive when you make approaches alone or among your friends? (i.e. does the appearance of dominance in a group hierarchy dynamic matter that much in field around women?). Also, are dating sites or apps worth the time?

Yes, being with a group is significantly better as it will give you social proof, especially if you're the most dominant. You can approach alone but this is generally more difficult.

Dating apps are worth using but I wouldn't use them too much, they can be addictive and you may reach a point of diminishing returns unless you use them all the time. I had quite a bit of success with them last year but you don't learn/grow nearly as much as you would from cold approach, although it will still help quite a bit in learning logistics and text game.

personally, I would stay clear from dating apps, for most guys it tends to get addictive.
The best place to game, in my opinion, are malls!

As long as you're charming and somewhat attractive, you won't come off as a creep.

I'm guessing depending on the place your in you'd have your friends act different. Like, in bars in clubs it would be better to have them act as something of a wing man, and in the other places have them visible but little/no interaction? Or is it generally the same in every place?
Also I've noticed a lot of PUAs have different ways of doing the cold approach. Generally, what strategies do you use? I get the feeling opening up with a compliment on the streets may come off as kind of sudden and obvious, while progressing from small talk is usually better?

So if anything, usually its better to use the apps to practice text game rather than expecting anything out of it.

there are tons of cold approach openers, my favorite is. "hey my friend wants an opinion on whether McDonald's make a good first date" works perfectly with both groups and individuals.

I tend to use compliments that aren't too generic. for example "that color looks amazing on you, brings out your ____"

or corny pick up lines that roger sterling would be proud of "That smile of yours is a weapon."

I like to meet girls when I'm fishing. Well, there aren't actually any girls out on the pond, but who cares, I'm fishing!

I assume if you're not used to doing that it would come off kind of awkward though (in my case I mean). I guess part of game is to keep doing it til you're good at it or something.

What would you usually do after using lines like those? Is it a good idea to just talk about anything as long as you maintain some level of confidence?

simply put the openers is an opener, what I mean is it opens the possibility for hundreds of reactions and hundreds of topics. Hey can be an opener.....if she clowns your friend you can call her out on it or make a joke, or ask another opinion based question.

my advice is to tell a girl at the start that you're nervous but you wanted to talk to them. it'll ruin your chance with that girl but you'll have more fun and learn to talk to girls and get out your comfort zone.

Ah, I think I get it. So for now I should focus on getting used to talking to them more often so things flow more naturally and seem less forced in time.

In other words, I should practice a while before going into game seriously.

there are mix opinions on that. some believe you should go for broke from the beginning, some say practice first. I say practice

Thanks. I guess it can't hurt to ease into things. For now I think I'll start regularing some bars again so I can get some practice, with the goal in mind to start putting real game into use sometime around the summer. Maybe before that, try some standard socializing on the spot when the opportunities come.

You should start trying now, and not wait until the summer. One of my major mistakes was always pushing off chasing women until "I was ready", but really if you want to improve the fastest, stop caring so much and start trying today.

Get a bar on lock, be social, talk to everyone (men and women), bring a friend or two to help boost your confidence for approaches.

Have fun with it. The whole point is to have fun. If you get rejected, laugh it off like it's happened thousands of times.

Once you get that approach anxiety done after the first attempt, you'll feel much better and act more loose. The more calm and carefree you are, the better the outcome.
