Tony Robbins apologizes for calling out the BS of #metoo Movement
https://abcnews.go.com/Lifestyle/woman-c...d=54345189

TLDR: During one of his live events, Tony Robbins calls out a female audience about the #metoo movement. He believes that its basically a victimhood mentality and how his business partners are scared to hire qualified, attractive females because there is too much risk involved. The self-development guru eventually apologizes after the public shamed the fuck out of him.

I am a little bit disappointed how he apologized, I don't think he did anything wrong. I think he just moved on because he didn't want any ruckus and just wanted to continue to make the dough. It's sad how one of your first self-development gurus that you looked up to when you were in high school gets treated like this in public...

"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner."
- Heat

"That's the difference between you and me. You wanna lose small, I wanna win big."

RE: Tony Robbins apologizes for calling out the BS of #metoo Movement
Money>Beliefs

He definitely doesn't want his gravy train to end, people will sell their ideals and ethics to make money.

Especially if they've been doing it for a long time.

Everything he said is right about the #metoo movement, sounds like he doesn't have enough fuck you money to not apologize.

Time and time again people who apologize end up losing in more ways than one.

What he should've done is explained how the media has misinformed people and went into a detailed and logical explanation of WHY he said what he said and for good reason.

Better yet. Just keep his mouth shut a few days and ignore all questions regarding it and it would blow over. As soon as the next "outrage squirrel" ran across the screen his perceived peccadillo would have been lost in the din.

You got to realize that it's not about if he still thinks he's wrong or not. Some controversy is good for the cashflow (just look at Donald Trump) because it creates drama and people talk about you and you get media attention but he realized that the whole thing was becoming too controversial and was going to be bad for him and his business, so he made an apology so all the sheep would calm down.

He is mostly making his money from blue pilled fools, so contrary to kaotic, I'd say it was probably a wise move. Wink

I'm not. Tony Robbins, Tim Ferriss, Ramit Sethi, James Altucher, etc etc...they all rely on a copy writing style of persuasion. Money > values is how you can describe that entire crowd.

They'll stand out, but in very calculated ways to earn themselves more money. But to actually do something that might make them lose money/fame/status/prestige...never happening.

So I'm not surprised he backtracked.

I don't know, to me it doesn't seem like he backtracked, more like he elaborated. But still, he should have told that woman thing I'm not here to have a debate, I'm making a point which I'm sure everyone else here understands, and then moved on.

But if there's one thing we (should) all have learned by spending time on this forum...logical discussions with the shrillex community is pointless. Anything other than blanket obeisance is met with ad-hominem labeling of "misogyny" "patriarchy" "rape culture" yada yada. It really is almost Orwellian.

We've also seen that theres two basic categories of men.

1. "Victimizers". These are the ones that are directly accused of an actual offense or wrongdoing. If these guys apologize they're fucked. (Like Louis CK).The ones that say "fuck you this is bullshit and Im going to fight you" (like Jeremy Piven) get relatively quickly left alone.

2. "Enablers". Guys that dont acquiesce to the narrative. If someone says anything at all other than "Yes your claims are all valid and without reproach" they get trounced. Look at Matt Damon. Basically all he said was that an inappropriate comment that makes a woman uncomfortable is a violation of a different degree than actual rape... and he got eviscerated.

Tony Robbins was accused of being an enabler. There's absolutely no win available for him. His apology only breathed more energy into what was nothing but a shit sandwich from the onset

Well the important thing is not to get into a debate. It is pointless. Better to move on and let it stay uneventful and unmemorable. Unfortunately he responded in a way that made it the opposite. He really shouldn't have engaged her at all never mind ask her to join him on stage in a futile attempt to be the nice guy. Especially considering how big and tall and rapey looking he is, not to mention his deep, masculine rapey voice.

Scott Adams defends Tony Robbins's so-called apology, pointing out how skillfully worded it is, using 'pacing-leading' language, never admitting error while avoiding the usual traps that people fall into when making apologies. Starts at 12:48.

Gutted he backed down and apologised.

I thought him of all people would have the spine to own his words and thoughts.

He may have done a "masterful job" but it doesn't matter. The only thing people hear is

"Tony Robbins apologized"

"If he apologized he must of done something wrong"

He's a charismatic salesman like anyone else who speaks for a living, why would you think he was anything else?
It's like those famous evangelical preachers who drive benzes and get caught embezzling millions. People who seek the spotlight aren't what they present themselves to be.

Yes indeed. Even if one wanted to apologize. There's no need to do it straight away.
Let the voracious 24/7 news cycle play out. Let the outrage die down & only then apologize if you're really compelled to.

Or do as Trump does. Don't apologize, have a bit of fun with it & get back to more important matters.

He could have held strong and been a voice of reason.
He could have done it skillfully and tactfully and gotten away with it.

This is the reason why things are the way they are. Everyone talks tuff but no one will stand up and push the boundaries at all. You can still fit the agenda and question it at the same time. Ie criticize "the modern liberal movement" vs "fuck sjws and trannies im going full maga motherfucker".

Its one thing to post on a message board and keep thoughts in your head like a closeted homo sexual. Its another to learn how to bring up your ideas without offending anyone/causing to much commotion. All these red pill dudes are like closet homos...."yeah I think xyz but I always act like a good boy who dont got no bad thoughts hillary Clinton and Jezebel wouldn't like"
Weak men dont stand up for what they believe in. Guys like cernovich and trump lead the charge and push the envelope to make social justice nazies gasp. Now we can say more out loud instead of sitting in silence. Dont go all the way but push an inch or two. Thats the only way this will work. If the men and women dont push for those inches than fuck it the war is going to be lost.

Tony robbins is just another weak silent motherfucker among many.

Anyone think that a self help guy has no business talking about MeToo? Or politics for that matter? That's a pretty good way to kill the positive vibes from half your audience. Bad for business.

Along those old school lines of not discussing politics & religion at parties.
So now that some folk treat their politics as a quasi-religion... Best stop & evaluate whether it's worth it when you do have a certain platform.

I.e start with a "sexual abuse is a real problem in america and real offences deserve swift action and harsh punishment. "
extrapolating on how horrible rape and sexual abuse is,how traumatized these poor women must be, talk about how strong and capabke they are still strong, and come around with a pitch about victim mindset and how letting go of a victim mindset can lead to getting past the trauma.

suppports the narrative and helpfull. No ground lost. He could pitch a victim mindset product after that and even offer to help victims or something if he wanted to.

Pose as a friend act as a spy. Pose as a liberal then from there poke them with a conservative knife.

I made a comparison between red pill dudes and being a closet homo. Never called anyone a faggot. It just seems funny that people with those certain ideas are being forced to keep their mouth shut about how they see things out of fear just like a closeted homo dude. They simply share a trait.

Im just saying you can put your ideas out there and hold principles while not having to go all-out. Be vague, pose as a liberal then after wrapping yourself up in liberalism make your point/hold your principle. Make hollow objectiveness instead of the typical passionate statements you want to react with when you hear some phsyco sjw shit.

Kinda like when your d-ing up on some kid who sucks on the field you can just poke check him a few times instead of using all your energy chasing the guy around and playing close d. Sure its lazy and subsuboptimal but the guy isnt scoring a goal and you aren't gonna be so gassed that the 3rd string needs to relieve you.

Scott Adams and his videos are great, and he's certainly right here to point out how Robbins isn't supporting the SJW line totally. But it's an apology, make no mistake.

Any cursory (or in-depth) reading of the words screams "I apologize". Adams seems to think that Robbins' omission of "methods" is some sort of "fuck you" to the #MeToo crowd. It's an apology, albeit not the most obsequious one we'll ever see.

One criticism I have of Adams is that he can sometimes microanalyze to the point of banality and even reach quite doubtful conclusions. This is on show with his Tony Robbins comments.
