Short version: a car is pulled over in New Jersey and Caren Turner, the mother of the adult passenger is called to pick her up. Turner arrives and starts demanding information about the stop and bullying the officers with her honorary badge as a Port Authority Commissioner, an unpaid position she was given as a reward for working on Democratic campaigns.

For nearly ten minutes, she desperately struggles for attention and validation from two younger, armed, uniformed men. The cops are visibly stunned but behave in an exemplary manner, being patient but not losing their frame and explaining that they don't know who she is and that she has no role whatsoever in the situation. This makes her lose her mind and start dropping names, physically back one of the officers against his patrol car, and bark obscenities. She leaves with an implied threat to ruin their careers.

Subsequently, she is forced to resign from her position with the Port Authority and the Port Authority is considering ending the tradition of giving out badges because it'd never occurred to them somebody might misuse them. The senior Democratic politician who recommended her appointment admits that she was basically a diversity hire, and Turner issues a statement apologizing but claiming the officers need to work on their "tone" to prevent incidents like this from happening again.

After watching that, my head is now filled with an alternate semi-erotic scenario:

The officer on the right slaps Ms. Turner and tells her to "Shut her whore mouth" while the officer on the left begins to handcuff her.

They kick the back of her knees to force her to the ground and then proceed to take out their tasers.

What follows next is a sort of a 'taser-bukkake' as they hold their tasers like it's their wang and they shock that bitch into submission.

As the old hag is being showered with electrical current, one of the officers begins humming the Bad Boys tune: "Bad Boys, Bad Boys...watcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you..."

What the hell is up with middle-aged suburban women and all these symbolic awards and honors they seem to get?

It's ironic you should post this because I was going to write something on what's happening with women in my town. Here, we have a "women's hall of fame" as well as a bunch of glossy publications dedicated to "saluting" local women, all of whom seem to specialize in giving each other awards.

On top of that, there's a "women's giving circle," where the rich women of the community LET EVERYONE KNOW just how much (of their husband's) money they're giving to...other women. It's a narcissistic circle-jerk.

I've never seen a group of people so self-absorbed in all my life: Honors, awards, banquets, luncheons. Most of these women are in PR or real estate, but you'd think they invented walking on the moon.

There's something about throwing around your economic weight that rubs me the wrong way. It used to be that suburbanites were modest. No longer. I hate garish displays of wealth. I purposely drive a modest car and dress in thrift shop clothes just to spite the McMansion crowd. I need to move.

Also, bullying is a way of life in the economically bifurcated and densely populated state of New Jersey.

Chris Christie, for all his flaws, is a product of the environment where Politics is like playing in the mud. Everyone gets dirty. A quick look back and we have John Corzine and McGreevey, a pair of corrupt Dems in a state where corruption is a way of doing business.

But this Cop is awesome and I'm glad she is out.

I really enjoy the expressions on the younger cop's face. At 1:00, you can almost hear him wondering if this is some kind of weird nightmare. His gaze automatically flips back and forth between her and the other officer as they banter, like this is so unbelievable he can't even guess what might happen next and is just trying to take it all in.

A common criticism of urban elites like this Turner woman is how classist they are. They always try to push their credentials and job position on people in an effort to artificially elevate their status, even in everyday exchanges. I remember reading a Washington Post article around 10 years ago in which they interviewed a woman who ran a nanny/au pair business, and she said when these kinds of people would call her, men and women both, they would almost start the conversation with, "I'm so-and-so, Harvard class of '75, partner at David and Schwartz, former aid to Senator Blumenthal, and I'm calling about hiring a nanny."

She does the exact same thing here, first trying to use status to get the police officers to back down. When that doesn't work, in frustration she switches to condescending classism, telling the one officer that he can't "make complete sentences." That's some really nasty stuff and shows her true character.

Port Authority handles her "I did nothing wrong" apology letter splendidly:

- Port Authority releases a follow-up press release detailing exactly what she did wrong.

- Port Authority Chairman makes a trip up to Tenafly to make amends with the police chief and the officers involved.

I'm waiting for word on the status of her doctor husband. He's been putting up with her since her law school days, when she probably passed the boner test, and a Google review for what seems to his practice (website is now down) lists him as "one of the nicest guys ever".

The hell are you talking about? The car was unregistered and they couldn't see it due to license being obstructed (also not legal) and the car had dark tint on the front windows (illegal). It was basically asking to be pulled over. Dude didn't have insurance either!

One of the reasons I like this forum is because it's one of the few places on the internet that doesn't censor speech. But if minorities want safe spaces on the forum when discussions of other minorities come up, then I guess safe spaces must be observed when we talk about white people as well Tiger.
