Have to move to USA for medical treatment choosing between New York, LA, Miami or?
I will basically have to move to US for the next 1-2 years for some medical treatment. I can still travel during this time but for the most part I'll be treating the city I get my medical treatment in as a home base. I chose the US cause it has some of the best facilities and private health care in the world. While yes technically I could have went to somewhere like Malaysia the US facilities are much more established and I just don't want to be in a foreign society/culture for the next 1-2 years. I've already spent the last little while doing work in a developing country so I'm ready to go back to a more advanced situation.

A lot of cities in the US have good treatment the main ones I've been looking at are New York, Los Angeles and Miami.

The treatment aside I'm trying to choose the city I go to based on how much I'll end up enjoying it. I've never been to any of the cities, however I've been reading about them a lot and I really want to understand which one I'll like best. In LA it seems like there would always be something to do. In New York it's the biggest city in the US while also being the most interconnected so it's easy to go anywhere. And in Miami a big plus for me is I like Latina girls.

Currently I'm more of a digital nomad doing things like webdev, ecommerce, marketting etc. 21 years old and I want to go to a more lively city with hot girls and a decent amount of things to do/entertainment after spending about a year in a developing country.

A big plus for me will be a city with a younger population, in some cities I noticed they are mostly older and elderly people (probably cause birth rates are plummeting) I don't want to be in those kinds of cities.. Low obesity rates is also very important for me. Another thing I don't like is an inflated sense of self worth. If a girl is a 9 and she acts kind of full of herself I don't really mind however if a girl is a 4 and she acts like she's an 8 that's what pisses me off, I don't like places where girls have inflated self worth.

New York hands down, cost of living notwithstanding.

LA is nice, but it has the worst, most vapid fakest people on earth.
Miami is Latin America and old people.

In NYC you can go almost everywhere without a car. Cheaper and better rentals are available across the river in NJ, with easy rail, bus, and ferry service into NYC.

Why pick one of three of the most expensive cities in the US to pursue medical treatment? Are you swimming in an unlimited supply of money?

There's no doubt that there are more affordable cities with great medical care that you could consider.

I currently live in Miami and have spent a decent amount of time in all three, and I vote NYC for you by far.

NYC is the most diverse, has the best job market, and there’s plenty to do all year.

Also I find there to be more girls in the 6-8 range in NYC than LA and especially Miami. At your age I think this is a big advantage for you.

SoCal and SoFlo are more spread out, which makes dating and getting laid more difficult. In addition, when everyone thinks of Miami they’re picturing a 9 or 10 on South Beach, but good luck getting a woman that hot without a nice boat. Miami has some quality, but the average woman in Miami Dade county is fat and has nothing going for herself. Whereas in NYC the average woman is in better shape, makes more money, and is more interesting. LA women probably fall somewhere in between.

Of those three, New York for reasons already stated.

If money matters and you prefer the warm-weather Miami/Los Angeles vibe, consider Scottsdale. Top medical hub, top airport, competitive cost of living, and decent nightlife with disproportionately hot women.

It depends on the medical issue...

Since it sounds like you are paying out of pocket and won't be using insurance, stay away from Miami -- some of the highest cost medical in the USA.

Denver was first place that came to mind.

I do things like web development/marketing For the last while I've been in areas that have basically no infrastructure that benefit my skills, all my clients have been online for the most part. The plan was to do something in the area I'm currently in but it's just not happening. I feel like LA and New York have a decent tech scene and New York is big on marketing so being in those locations would actually go well with my work.

Money wise I have finally established some good clients online and LA/New York are some of the main places they are based so I feel like it would only help my carreer going to one of those cities.

And in the end being in LA, New York or Miami would just be much more enjoyable then being in a 3rd world country.

I'm not suggesting seeking medical treatment in a third world country. I'm suggesting that if money isn't growing on trees for you, that you may want to consider a less expensive US city.

Houston has already been suggested. I suspect the tech scene there is strong.

I encourage you to consider this because keeping stress reduced and achieving good health go hand-in-hand and the less you need to worry about making rent and the less pressure you have to take on more work than you can really handle, the better for the success of your medical treatment goals.

If you are making money hand over fist and the situation isn't going to change even if you are distracted due to medical treatment activities, then you can disregard my suggestion, but otherwise, I'd encourage you to strongly consider it.

Of course, New York is by all accounts an awesome city and I can see why you'd want to live there for a period of time.

The tech scene in Texas in general is not great for freelancing or obtaining decent paying long-term clients. It's very good if you're doing a startup or working in startups in which Austin is the best scene for that. The venture capital scene is a bit of a joke though. Most of the capitalization of a lot of startups in Austin at least is North East (NYC & Boston) and California (San Francisco and LA) money. Houston is not as good for girls unless you live in the inner-loop and Dallas is out of the question although I will say Dallas can be very good for linking up with very high paying clients with DFW being a major hub. UT brings in some very hot students so I'd say Austin hands down for girls in TX, it's also a younger demographic altogether.

There was a very wealthy former forum member I met who lived in Houston who was in good shape, had half decent game and owned 3 super cars and he struggled in Houston for years and in his own words was because it was so spread out. He ended up moving to Austin but I've lost touch with him since I moved overseas.

But I'd choose NYC over Austin even Miami over Austin any day of the week (Austin is infested with SJW's and the PC crowd and there is almost no way to avoid them.) I never lived in LA so I can't speak to it but I've never heard anything good from friends who lived there.

Houston is pretty well known for it's medical care, but again depends on what you're looking for. It will be cheaper in terms of living than LA or NYC for sure.

It's interesting most forum members are saying NYC is better then LA but the stats say the exact opposite.

"Since early 2016, according to LinkedIn, around seven or eight out of every 10,000 site users in LA reported moving there recently from NYC — making New Yorkers the No. 1 type of transplant in LA. In contrast, NYC isn't even in the Top 10 destinations for LinkedIn users leaving LA, the numbers for August show. At this point, NYC is more popular among job seekers from Bangalore, India, than those from LA."

So the top three cities for transplants in Los Angeles are from New York City, Chicago and Boston.

Then the top three cities for transplants in New York are Bangladore India, Boston and Hartford.

New York has also lost the most workers to Los Angeles while New York doesn't even rank.

If you're planning to build a corporate career and settle down, this is highly relevant. If you're looking for the most enjoyable city to crash in and spin plates for a couple of years, that's completely different, and I think that's what people are trying to advise you on. New York is going to be a hands-down easier city to bang, your professional skills will be more respected by women there since they work "real jobs", and you'll also have easy rail access to Boston, Washington, and Philly.

In Los Angeles, you're going to be stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic two hours a day trying to game women who think they're too famous for you, and the next closest metro is Palm Springs, which is unbelievably beautiful but also almost like a gay retirement community. You'll find many Los Angelinos eventually leave, as well, to Austin, Vegas, Scottsdale for the massive improvement to their quality of life.

With that said, if you want to look at the bigger picture, log in to the reports they're citing and you'll see that neither Los Angeles nor New York rate as top destinations.

My recommendation would be to choose one of the in-demand cities in the west or south and enjoy life. Americans have gotten wise to this, as well. Choose one with a good airport and you'll save so much money you can fly into New York or Los Angeles for business or pleasure anytime you want, or spend all summer in a beach rental. If it's really down to New York or Los Angeles, though? New York, every time.

(Unless you can't stand winter and enjoy traffic.)

Yeah, fresh pussies who can't cut their teeth for a living in NYC move to LA, see Vegas before the authorities cracked down on the Mafia in the late 80's. NYC is a institutional heavily educated city and LA is a city for fruit loops and degenerates (I'll admit I've never lived in LA but have plenty of well educated solid friends who did and still do). All of them that are not tied down with families, jobs or mortgages are trying to leave LA.

Funny how the rich heavily educated Asians take a direct flight to the Northwest or SV on the left coast. Unless they are opening a retail business or restaurant then they might land in LA, or if they are doing some import/export trade and hubing out. Even then they'll base their life far from the reaches of LA such as the OC or San Diego. (I did live in SoCal for bit)

Patch is a trash geo-media news aggregation network that lost funding years ago and has only been held up by it's slight search credentials. linkedin has been well known for funneling bullshit statistics.

Don't be distracted by all the graphs and charts, look at the cites for actual data. Even if the match one has to think how many people are moving somewhere just because they failed to get a good job one place and the NYT told them they would find one elsewhere.

Reminds me of watching all the idiots moving to Austin with their "credentials" many are running food trucks. Nothing wrong with that. Just was not what they originally intended to do with that public university psychology degree and code school certification.

I see that Miami is like 70% hispanic and only like 15% white. I like hispanic girls but I also like white girls is there a noticeable deficiency of white girls in Miami? How much of those 70% of hispanics could basically be considered white? Do you find Miami is lacking in white girls?

It's not lacking in white women, and many of the latinos are light skinned. Many Puerto Ricans (much lighter skinned than Cuba and DR on average) and Cubans (tend to be white Cubans, as the richer families in Cuba fled the country when Castro took over). Even if it were 15 %, that is still more than enough - you gonna plow a 1/5th of the city?

Houston would be hard to beat in terms of health care quality (esp for cancer - MD Anderson), quality of life, and cost of living. If I was relocating to the U.S. for cancer treatment, it would be to Houston. NYC has Sloan Kettering cancer institute as well.

Cost of living in LA or Chicago would be roughly twice as expensive, NYC 3X. Miami is more expensive than Houston, but less than LA. 1.75x?

Miami - the girls there are hispanic american. That is basically hispanic in culture, plus the worse of American culture. The 70% is accurate. The next counties north (Broward - largest city is Ft. Luaderdale) and West Palm - are more white.

Lol I'm just saying out of the 15% not all of those white girls will be attractive. Compared to some cities that are like 50% I just thought there might be far less attractive white girls in Miami since they only make up 15% of the population.

Also are there any viable outdoor activities in New York city? Are there any trails nearby or anything like that? Can you even ride a bicycle in the city or a motorbike, I heard cops over there hate bicycles and motorcycles. If there is no outdoor activities in NYC what is the farthest you would have to go to get to some?

There are some green or landscaped places to walk or run in the city, such as the High Line, Central Park, etc., and people bike all over the place, it's a very popular choice and a non-issue. I have colleagues who bike between Brooklyn or Queens and Manhattan every day.

To get "outdoors", there are definitely trails you can reach via public transit, but I've never been to any of these: https://www.eventbrite.com/rally/new-yor...get-there/

If you really want wilderness, you can also take the daily New York-Montreal train a few hours into the Adirondacks and go back-country camping. Very special place, 150 miles across, I would recommend it to anyone with a weekend to spare, many New Yorkers never go even though it's right there.

NY and NJ have a number of rail to trail conversions that are an easy drive to get too out of the city. There is also biking at Central Park and Governor’s Island.
