If a girl is physically attracted to a guy, he is attracted to her, and she knows he probably only wants sex from her,

Is there a reason for her to decide not to have sex with him?

In the past, there were no birth control methods and premarital sex was not socially acceptable so I can understand why women wouldn't want to have sex with every guy they liked. Things have changed a lot and I was wondering if women today will have sex with any guy they like, just like men will have sex with any girl they like (if she also likes them).

Is there anything holding back women from having sex with a guy they like even if they know that he just wants them for sex and not marriage or LTR?

If a girl says she likes you but wont have sex its usually 2 outcomes:

A: She's lying and just wants your attention to keep chasing her while she gives you blue balls. Go radio silent on her and chase other girls.

B: She's afraid you'll pump her and dump her or get her pregnant, which probably means she's a virgin or close to it.

You're better off not talking to her anymore. It seems like you're getting milked for attention while you get nothing in return.

A girl is three things: the unconscious id, the ego and the superego. The unconscious id decides if she is attracted to you. But the ego and the superego must agree (unless she’s drunk or something). The ego is concerned with her objective interests - it might disagree if you have objective flaws, like say being notoriously unfaithful, being an asshole, being known as bad for sex, or being broke, or if having sex with you will deteriorate her social standing. The superego is concerned with social rules - it might object if the sex breaks the social rules she considers important, like if you are married, if you are of a certain race which is despised in her family, if you are not respectable in a way or another.

If the ego disagrees, it can be convinced using rational arguments. The superego can be overcome if she has enough attraction to you (some girls have weaker or stronger superegoes - in general strong superego is good for LTR but bad for sex)

As far as one-night recreational sex is concerned, the main obstacle is usually the superego (‘sex without love is dirty!’). It can also be the ego worrying that ‘sex will not be good’ or ‘people will think I’m a slut’.

Montrose nailed it 100%... And to summarize if a girl is physically attracted to you and won't have sex she may think you are too nice and not know how to escalate meaning bad in bed. Women always have and will cross hell and high waters for what they want no exceptions.

The question itself sounds very entitled.

The idea that girls act on every physical attraction they may have, that makes no sense... The irony is we criticize girls for being whores, but when they hold out we assume there's some problem with her personality or we need to solve it with aggression.

You may also spoil a good thing with a nice girl by making assumptions based on things you read like "she just wants attention". Girls will put the brakes on if they think you're a serious prospect and you have to put in some time to get those cases in the sack (I have my limits here - like 3-5 dates, but they're usually reached). There's nothing wrong with having someone like you beyond the physical and wanting to get to know you better. On the other hand, if you're not willing to let something happen with a chick and just want a one night thing and are too impatient to play the game, then you should probably get out anyway.

All human decisionmaking is moderated by the risk/reward or pain/pleasure.

Speaking in generalities here, but sex to women tends to lead to bonding hormones, so sure, the sex will be good, but then there will be the long-tail of missing the guy and thinking about him afterwards. This has been progressively banged out of women via them riding the carousel, but it's the biological default.

Don't make the mistake of thinking women think the same way about sex as we do. We think about sex, and feel very different about it.

Millions of years of evolution have hard wired many differences between the male and female attitude to sex.

Male attitude to sex is carefree and urgent, because we risk nothing but a blast of nut butter.

A woman risks a potentially fatal pregnancy, a large period of being incapacitated and then 12 years of servitude to the offspring. Her investment is huge.

Sperm is cheap, eggs are expensive.

Sure these days there is contraceptives and brainwashing to be slutty, but millions of years of biological programming still controls much of a woman's behavior.

They still have strong urges to mate and have sex, but very, very different to male urges.

Yes, there's a million reasons for them not to have sex with you. I remember a great post once that "the entire world is now a cockblock," which is true. There's a million things you're up against.

Most give in quickly, though. Just stay low investment, get what you can "I'm not taking you into my bedroom to have sex. I just like making out with you and it's more comfortable there. Oops, I guess we just got really into the moment," and escalate escalate escalate. Feelings, not words or logic, with those girls.
