As a White Christian man I'm not a huge Disney fan, but I have to say one of my favorite animated movies growing up was Aladdin. I was doing some searching lately, and I came across the news that Disney was to star the "Fresh Prince of Belair" as Aladdin in a live-action remake. Of course, my reaction was, what!? How do you cast a character that looks nothing like the original? Also, would the real Aladdin let his son wear a dress? I don't know about you, but if you ask me the role should go to Roosh and I believe Temeenah Afzal should play Jasmine.

What are your thoughts?

Robin Williams, who played Aladin in the Disney original, was white.

I don't really see the harm of Will Smith, who is black, playing Aladin here since we've already crossed the color barrier on this one. Honestly, I think that he'd be a good fit for the roll.

You might as well get angry that Omar Sharif, an Arab, played a Russian in Dr. Zhivago.

As for Ms. Afzal...

Will Smith is cool. But according to the news Will Smith stars as the Genie in the remake, not as Aladdin as you stated.

I think it's much more worrisome that Guy Ritchie is set to direct it. If King Arthur and the Sherlock Homes flicks are any indication, Guy Ritchie is going to be first director ever to somehow manage to make Aladdin bomb in the box office

It could work. Most of the African slave trade was to the Arabs not the Americas, so there would be a a lot of half black people people floating around Arab culture in that "era". An SJW once told me that the American slavery was so much worse than what anyone else had ever done to them, it deserved special consideration despite it's smaller numbers. To get a feel for it, I asked how the descendants of those African that went to Arabia were doing compared to the ones that went to the Americas. He couldn't answer my question. He ducked it a few times before admitting the Africans that went to the Arabs did have any descendant because Arabs believed Africans sexually dangerous and castrated every male African they got their hands on, and gang raped all the women until they simply weren't black anymore. He told me not to worry though, the Americans were so much worse they needed to be held to a completely different standard and pay reparations nobody else involved would consider paying. I have to admit, these are extremely complex issues, and I never would have been able to understand this stuff properly without one of our wise SJW commissars guiding my way and preventing from falling into Wrongthink. I understand so much better now that I no longer have to question or think.

I took one of my little nieces to a Disney place and rode on the Aladdin magic carpets.

well the white people in the front seats got to control how high the carpet goes. Racist bullshit if you ask me. You think rosa Parks is gonna sit in the back of that carpet. Hell no.

Aladdin takes place in Persia. Persians are not Arabs. Persians are white. Altrough obviously today they have mixed with arabs, indians and other middle easterners quite a lot. Their base genetic code is Indo-European (White) trough.

The point is moot, since it has now been established that Smith will play the genie, but what's interesting to me is...supposing he were to play aladdin, do you think the left would cry foul on account that aladdin was arabic, and smith is black, hence an 'inauthentic' and 'racist' portrayal? Of course you wouldn't. But if it was/is a white man cast to play aladdin, then yes you better expect some backlash at that.

Why doesn't Disney remake Aladdin as it was originally was in an Islamic city in China? Aladdin was Chinese in the original story and there were two Djinn's.

Since Othello everyone equates blacks with arabs, rightly or wrongly, hence things like Morgan Freeman as a "moor" in Robin Hood. The thinking goes that any chance to cast a black actor is a win, even if it's a square peg in a round hole. There also aren't a heck of a lot of arab actors in Hollywood that I'm aware of.
