This has now changed. The Chinese have now even figured out how to make Human Resources useful.

Chinese tech companies have sparked controversy on social media after choosing to motivate their male employees by hiring 'programming cheerleaders'.'

The 'pretty, talented' girls are hired to 'create a fun work environment' for employees of internet companies across the country, according to social media website Trending in China.

'Their job includes buying programmers breakfast, chitchatting and playing ping-pong with them,' the post said.

An HR manager of one of the companies that apparently hired three of the 'cheerleaders' told the site that their programmers were 'mostly male and terrible at socialising.'

'The presence of these girls have greatly improved their job efficiency and motivation,' the HR manager said.

The response on social media to the pictures has been less positive.

'Or you know, hire some women who code. Oh wait, that would be too intimidating for there man-children, right?' One Facebook user wrote.

I know this just sounds humorous right now, but I can see this actually having a major impact on the field, especially in recruitment. If standard tech companies are offering a few PC office bennies (along with a minefield of HR rules) and the Chinese company has the place stacked with hotties with orders to compliment you and keep you happy and productive, I can see a LOT of guys jumping ship. Also, non players have an overwhelming need to exaggerate their successes in that field, so a lot of techies are going to believe these guys are getting lucky 100 times more often than it actually happens. Employee retention? If the guy is "in love" with an office hottie, he's a lot less likely to take comparable offers. heck, if they really wanted to play dirty, they could ask her to act extra friendly when he's getting offers. How will management know? She's be the first one he brags to.

This might be restricted to countries with free-er laws at this point, but I could even see finding ways to finagle this into American companies. Just offer well compensated "Coding Internships" to every halfway cute girl over the age of 18. Then it wouldn't even be faked or forced as much, these girls would be getting trained by superstars in their field, and "Sensei Pussy" is a very real thing. The guys are doing all the work, and anything you get out of the girls is considered gravy.

This has been going on in the US for a while. Can't remember where I read it, but an electrician (or similar) was telling how he did repairs at an IT company, where the majority of employees were your stereotypical tech nerds, but there were also a few attractive young women, who at first glance didn't seem to be doing much. Over time, he realised that the women were actually employed to fawn over the techies, bring them coffee and so on, to keep them working at peak efficiency.

Man I'm wondering how much they're getting paid? If it's a Chinese middle class salary... wouldn't be too bad! But then again... imagine how much Date Requests these chicks must waive off a week? Nice as all this is (give me the one in the red skirt), this isn't picking up in the west.

HR is a job that combines everything women love; appeasement, gossip, keeping notes on people, the power to destroy and the safety of a comfort zone; its a very easy job with a codified set of rules and you spend 98% of your time in the same place doing the same thing.

Of all the 'female make-work' jobs out there that don't explicitly require you to be a woman it's probably the purest example.

Also an absolute nest of vipers, what percentage of HR flacks are middle aged, unmarried or divorced and hate men and attractive women?

You think the 48 year old fat HR rep with 'I want to speak with the manager' hair wants a bunch of 22 and 23 year old hotties in her sight every day?

In a male dominated field like tech, a motivated employee is a happy and effective employee.

As wrong as China is on several scores, at least here the women are women who act like women, and at least here if a woman is 'sexually harassed' (think catcalled, not violently raped) she'll have the forethought to realize 'I guess I should have expected it with my tits out like this'.

You're spot on with all this, Nonpareil. HR departments give little-minded people the power to destroy a man's career/fuck with his money. Women figured this out a long time ago and now dominate the field. I've worked as a psych nurse for the last 24 years, so I'm not only surrounded by ignorant females in my work environment, I have to deal with them in the HR department and the "Nursing Education" department, as well (oxymoron in quotes there, wrt hospital departments at least). As an aside, I can tell many horrific tales of dangerous situations in adult inpatient psych, thanks to female nurses who fucking panic at the drop of a hat and are otherwise useless to begin with.

I have a very difficult time 'kissing ass' for any reason at all, including my own career/salary. It takes every last ounce of self-control to smile and nod at the HR lady as she says, i.e., "you'll have to bring a copy of your [whatever stupid document they've decided they need asap] in person, we can't accept a fax." A fax being, a copy of something . . . You get what I'm saying.

I hate them all. Oh, and nurses are self-defeating whores, every last one of them. The pretty ones will scoop up doctors the first couple years out of school, leaving me to work with the nasty old battleaxes or the 2/10 fatso that brings in a box of donuts every night. My best shifts where when I had one token female, in the case of some dumb bitch of a patient trying to make a sexual harassment claim, and the rest of us men - we get our work done, nobody gets their nickers in a twist when told to go do something, and we can take down violent patients without missing a beat.

Sorry for the rant - I've got few places in my life where I can vent these frustrations!
