I wouldn't listen to an Arab about homosexuality - it seems prolific and widely practiced in their societies yet publicly denied. I had read there is a far greater incidence of homosexuality among Jews as well, so perhaps it is a genetic impulse in the region as their religions and cultures are very different. Someone I know who is not a Muslim but came of age in a Muslim country in the 60's told me once that because they are so repressed sexually and cannot touch women until they are married or whatever, adolescent boys learn about sex from older men instead of experimenting with chicks like every day heterosexuals in the west. I guess you could use that logic to translate to some of the behavior in the Catholic Church as well. Anyway, just an observation.

I think in a Muslim world where a man can command a woman to do everything - some men can become too lazy and command their women to be on top too often which can lead to a habit of passivity in sex. This reminds me of an interesting experience I had when I visited Jordan several years ago. I was staying in a cheap hotel which had (strangely for the region) a no smoking policy, so I smoked outside the back entrance which was on a dimly lit street. Several times, cars slowed down and the driver rolled down his window and said something in Arabic, then drove off when I replied that I don't speak Arabic. It took a while to realise that I was being propositioned.
