My mother (middle aged) is taking my sister (who has down syndrome) on a little trip in November.

She's looking for somewhere that is guarenteed to be at least warm, if not outright sunny. She's thinking of going to Florida. Anyone have experience of the best place she could go? (Basically, think of everything we normally look for in a data sheet, and reverse it.)

She wants to go to what in England is called a resort - somewhere which is all expenses paid, nice dining, pools, access to the beach etc.

She'd also like to do a bit of shopping, so proximity to a good outlet mall would be ideal. Also, close to that Disney place would be nice.

Anyone got any suggestions?

How much does she want to spend? Rental car or public transport and how far from Disney?

Money is pretty much no object. And she's not really looking to rent a car - she wants everything to be available within the hotel itself. (Disney is, maybe, a day trip, nothing more.)

You can ride pubic transport all over from here. Its just south of Clearwater and north of St Pete Beach. Its an hour and a half from Disney.

Howdy Sam,

My 2 cents, Fortlauderdale can workout, close to Miami and Orlando for a 1-2 day trip to Disneyland.

Here is one resort I have personally stayed at that is on the beach, has an excellent pool with a lazy river and the perks.

You aunt can visit the shopping area on Los Olas Blvd or might even try the Miami International Mall or Dlphin Mall

I think Fortlauderdale has a lot to offer in her situation, basically any resort on A1A will serve the purpose and there is tons to do in the area, Let me know if you have any questions.

IF you are looking to stay in Orlando I can highly recommend the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. About 15 minutes from Disney World, 15 mins from Universal Studios and almost across the street from the one of the best outlet malls in the state. You can't really guarantee the weather in Florida that time of year though...but it will definitely be warmer than the UK. Let me know if you have any other questions.
