The regrowth soaked up enough carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to actually cool the planet, with the average temperature dropping by 0.15C in the late 1500s and early 1600s, the study by scientists at University College London found.

I hesitate to speculate how this could possibly fit into the narrative of climate change solutions.

The Indians were people, nothing more or less. They didn't need any lessons in genocide from us, they were already pretty adept at it. They tortured prisoners so cruelly that suicide was said to be preferable to capture. That said, they also had some very advanced social structures, and were capable of great kindness to others that they weren't warring with, including Europeans. They were no better or worse than many other peoples, and their numbers being culled by 90% wasn't unique, either. Just ask a zoroastrian or a coptic Egyptian.

Let's also not forget the black death was happening concurrently in Europe at the same time. There was also sogmofocamt volcanic activity happening at the same time.

This is not just the Guardian. I saw it first on CNN. And other news have been picking up on it through the last couple of days. The vox dot commies have not chimed in yet, but I'm sure they are getting all their "ducks in a row" for when they finally publish their thought-tank piece on it, minus and/or plus (TBD) the politically correct indigenous violence.
