RE: Learn Chinese or Vietnamese for top talent light skinned Asians?
If you think that Japan and Korea are racist, then you are really going to struggle in Vietnam and especially China.
While it is true that Japan and Korea are closed cultures, at least the Japanese are super polite and courteous in everything they do.
The Chinese on the other hand are rude, ignorant and treat everybody outside their immediate social circle with contempt.
Xenophobia is heavily institutionalised and the rulers encourage overt jingoism, especially towards the Japanese, but against all non Han in general.
The number of attacks on foreigners with Chinese gfs is growing rapidly, and while you might not hear terms like Yang Kong Ju, you will hear talk of gold diggers and passport hunters.
While Mandarin is useful for picking up Chinese girls in tourist hotspots, it is not an essential like it is in Lijiang or Hangzhou.
Finally, you are never going to get a green card, no matter how good your Chinese is. Speaking is easy but learning to read and write will take you a good ten years, if you can go at the same speed as a local. It probably will not improve your job prospects very much either.
Asia has had its day. If I were young again, this time around I would be studying Swahili or Amharic.

RE: Learn Chinese or Vietnamese for top talent light skinned Asians?
I know an ex-USAF pilot who has a sweet Viet wife and a lovely daughter living on the Viet coast. He enjoys his life.
The way he put it, "You will never know what is going on.. Its got to the point when I'm dealing with my wife's family that all I know is - whatever they're telling me -whatever I find out on my own ... is guaranteed to be not even half the truth."
In the 2nd tier where I was and the provinces especially the people are mob handed and a foreigner is a bona fide shock to their senses. Newly moved here Russian guy is finding out that if he meets a local girl for a date then they will be treated as pariahs. The other night I was getting stones thrown at me. Russian guy describes it as "like being an animal in a cage".
They just constantly abuse and harass, not the landlord nor the employer but pretty much everyone else. Ive had to wait on the road for somebody and Jesus Christ.. that is an exercise in people circling me on bikes, yelling, throwing shit - just a bunch of savage cunts.
Every day. The whole cafe, restaurant, bar going silent when I walk in. Find a corner and if I look up every one at is staring at me - the older they are the more unhappy with my presence. The younger ones just point, and chuck shit and laugh.
If I tell the locals I know about the things that happen to me they pretend they can't understand or that it isn't possible. I've found that if I drink with them and >genuinely let go< of all the targeted abuse and just tell it back to them as a humorous story that I don't care about ... then they drop their defensiveness and get incensed "How could someone treat you like that?"
Well.. it was your cousin/ you were there/ it was you..
My landlord gave me a lecture about being too closed recently. "Your door should be open 70% of the time."
If I don't sit and drink and get blind with the same people I had drinks with the day before then I get fireworks over my wall.
They drink with each other all day every day. Work on each others houses and projects all the time.
Blood brothers.
I told my landlord I was moving out. He made me promise that I wouldn't tell anyone else in our circle, just pretend I'm going on holiday, he doesn't trust any of them. Drinking buddies everyday. They've known each other since childhood.
If you came to where I am you will find 5 or 6 westerners who swear that the Vietnamese are amazing and so welcoming etc. etc. They are all alcoholics without any qualifications, dating drug addict single mothers, living with their in-laws and like frogs in a steadily warming cauldron.
The women, in the most part, are fucking awesome. So svelte and graceful and lady like. Amazing looks and figures. The wives are often sporting black eyes which they shrug off with a good natured smile and a laugh.
So OP if you get conversant in Viet you will open up a market of amazing chicas, but don't be under any illusions that your search will be anything other than an adventure.
You will be no more able to settle down and become part of the family or community than Neil Armstrong was able to settle down on the moon.
I wish you luck as I think its a great idea, I just think one will do well to recognise which areas are only hunting grounds and which areas are safe spaces where you can actually date local girls unharassed and live medium and long term.

RE: Learn Chinese or Vietnamese for top talent light skinned Asians?
^Its not everywhere brother.
I suffered back home for very specific reasons and I've written threads about that. But that came late in adulthood. Up till then life was just increasing annoyance of SJW-ism.
But even the other night some locals were saying to me they felt I could have taken on the hill tribespeople that chased me out of their village nearby.
I think that's horse shit. I would have been killed.
But it doesn't make sense to do anything other than, ignore.. smile.. avoid confrontation here.
I don't always take my own advice. Ive gotten stroppy and some people have visibly shat themselves. But that tends to be more with middle class gammas in the town centre. And I was foolish.
If I fought the barefoot hut dwellers in my area they would kill me, unless they decided not to..
I live in very poor farmer country in a 'politically sensitive' province where the government really doesn't let many foreigners stay. My landlord was onto me 2 nights ago that the government says I am no longer allowed to live in my house.
No actual documentary reason for that.
I'm leaving because the government are making my life too difficult. The schools here can't get teachers because the govt literally tosses their flats and kicks them out as "heroin addicts" or - I shit you not - back in 2013 - "CIA spies". < they smoked a little weed.
If it was just me they wouldn't have done it to them. In 6 months I've seen about 8 westerners come here, get a job and invest heavily and with great hope in getting a place.. and then in 3 months they've gone.
Russian newbie is tearing his hair out with the harassment. We've changed places as when he arrived he was counselling 'it can't be that bad' and now I'm leaving I'm all happy and he's depressed.
The one thing I won't do is fight people on my street. I had a whole bunch of "young buffalo'/wide-boys yelling abuse at me outside my gate and I just had to ignore it.
It is as racist as all hell here.
There's too many others going thru the same things to make it just me.
I was in 2nd tier shithole Dong Nai, that was fine in terms of harassment, can live unmolested and date locals but.. there were still utter retards on my street. IMO Compared to the provincial Thais the provincial Viets are often retards.
Like I've said in other threads, the riot police are swinging into action regularly here, people are shooting each other, o'ding on heroin, fighting in the street, acid attacks, when I was in Cambodia in 2004 there were people running across the border from this place with just the shirts on their backs. Mafia activity is lively.
My mistake was to try and live in a very poor area as a foreigner. That made me too exposed.
But at least I feel like I've seen the real Vietnam. I watch these guys toil up steep hills and labour on the hard soil under a baking sun with no shade. all day long.. and then walk home..
They sleep on a thin mattress with their wife and kids.
They feel quite entitled to rip into foreigners.
I mean yeah maybe its just me.. lets say what you're suggesting about my perspective is right and it is largely about me.. I'm quite relaxed about that part but..
OP needs to be aware of real provincial Vietnam. Other than being a visitor, passing through.. The white man and/or foreigner has no place here.
