I have really been wanting to find somewhere without the facebook, yolo, swagger, glued to smart phones epidemic.
As in all of Atlantic Canada, the summers in Nfld can be hit and miss, sometimes you'll have weeks of sunny weather and temps in the 70-80 range, then you'll have days or sometimes over a week of foggy, overcast weather. Best time of the year to go would be July/August for weather, and that's when the George Street Festival in St. John's happens.
The girls in Nfld are just as obsessed with smart phones and Facebook as women all over NA, but they are more down to earth, laid back and nice (approachable) than women you'll find in bigger cities. Its like that all over the east coast of Canada, people are very chill, welcoming, when I lived in Halifax, if my friends didn't want to go out, I'd roll solo and always end up partying with groups of new people.
St. John's and other east coast towns are the kind of places where you can walk up to random people (girls, whoever) and people will engage in long conversations with you. Especially if you're from far away, even the USA, people will be impressed and probably offer you drinks or invite you to house parties, which are a big thing out there.
If you're into heavy drinking, partying and can pick up girls at bars in clubs in a big cities in North America, Newfoundland or any other east coast Canadian province should be easy.
God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

St. John's is a small city. Cannot imagine the nightlife is very attractive?!
As I mentioned in my OP, I haven't been to St John's but I can comment on Halifax, which is similar in many ways. Basically they're both old cities, for North America anyway, built by the British as military cities and maritime hubs, both are built around harbours. They're both very condensed cities, all of the action is down town and a lot of people live there, the cities don't empty out after working hours because people live there and go out to eat, drink, do whatever there.
St John's has the highest number of drinking establishments, per capita of any city in Canada and Halifax is #2. I"m not sure about St John's but Halifax has a few bigger clubs that can fit probably up to 1000 people, the club scene is okay but not great. What both cities do have in abundance are lively local pubs and some of these places get really packed on the weekend. They have live bands and at the traditional pubs, they play traditional east coast music (Celtic inspired) and the vibe in these places are what I like the best, its what I miss most about home.
If I was coming all the way up from the US, I'd probably do a ten day trip and hit up both Halifax and St John's on the weekends. You can fly between the two cities on WEstjet, Air Canada or Porter Airlines. Also, if anyone is looking for places to rent, there should be listings on the popular Canadian site http://www.kijiji.ca

RE: The next Iceland, except better with easier girls!
Alright seems like you guys are overhyping this slightly.
For sure, Newfoundland chicks are some of the easiest in Canada. George Street is probably one of the easiest streets for getting laid in all of Canada and on the right weekend, can be one of the bigger slut shows you've seen in your life. Go in late August to early September and you'll have a great time right as all the students are just getting back.
However, it seems like some of you guys are expecting a bit higher quality than what you are going to see there. As it remains true for most small towns and cities, the top end quality will almost always move elsewhere. This is the case for Newfoundland as most of the province has moved elsewhere now anyways. The quality is probably slightly lower than Halifax and at least a full point lower than Montreal in comparison.
Memorial is the cheapest University in Canada and is commonly known as a "drink your face off" kind of school. Population of the school is pretty all over the place because of this and usually you get the students from more middle class families from all over Canada who go here. Everyone here goes clubbing underage so don't be surprised if during the school year you find out the girl you are gaming is actually 17-18.
If your going for ease of lay, check out Newfoundland. If it's Quality you won't be that impressed with the general Newfie Chick.
If your looking to come to the East Coast, check out Halifax or Cavendish P.E.I on CMBF weekend. The latter being probably the sluttiest weekend you'll find on the East Coast.

Okay, it's adventure time! Have a few days off, so I'm headed to St. John's in search of the perfect plate of fish & chips. Will also be dong so kayaking, hiking and, of course, the George Street hustle. Will hopefully get 'screeched' (whatever that is). I've done some research, but let me know if you cats have any specific recommendations (ladies' nights, events, places, eats, etc.). Scotian, et al. thanks for the thread; very inspiring.
Going to hunker down for a true 'flag mission' this time a la this:

Wish me luck boys!

RE: The next Iceland, except better with easier girls!
I'm back and exhausted. Was a very interesting trip and, all in all, and a good one. I did about 50 approaches in 4 days, hit a lot of venues, went on 2 insta-dates, got a make out, ate good food and communed with nature.
I did not achieve my goal of a +1, but that was never guaranteed within the short timeframe I was there, and the level of game I have (which is decent, but by no means masterful). Still, learned a lot about myself, the world and the game, so all good there. Will throw up a data sheet when I have a chance.
