French feminists making war on language
They are getting the word "madamoiselle" banned from official forms.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/...4250.story

When I was in college, I had this really feminist professor for one of my philosophy classes. On the cover of one of my essays, I listed her name with "Mrs". She crossed out the "r" with a big red X even though she was married. Luckily she didn't mark my grade down.

Man, I hope her husband divorced her.

A woman who is not proud to call herself your wife is class-A pump 'n' dump material.

A year from now you'll wish you started today

I had the following (paraphrased) exchange with my last LTR. It was hypothetical to the extreme because I had made clear I would never get married. She started to bring it up more and more as more of her aging friends were taking the plunge. I indulged the conversation here and there:

Girl: [if we got married] I wouldn't change my name.
Tuthmosis: Is that right? Why not?
Girl: For one, I kinda like my name. And, it's too much of a hassle--with all of the paperwork and process for a name change. Plus it's expensive. I'd use your name, but I wouldn't change it officially. That's what Julia [her friend] is doing.
Tuthmosis: Yeah, I understand. I guess it's too much of an inconvenience and expense to change my marital status too. I kind of like my marital status. You can just pretend we're married.

That shut her the fuck up. She was pretty cool otherwise (which is why I LTR'd her for a while), but it's amazing how much these bitches want to a-la-carte the parts of marriage they want and leave behind the ones they don't. We already gave up young, virginal brides. That's already an enormous compromise. Think about everything given up since.

Did you say it with a deadpan tone, harsh tone, or sarcastic to get the point across? I want to know in case I'm in the same situation.

I deadpanned the hell out of it, with a slight sarcastic tone. I mean barely.

Anything to make older women, light years past their sexual prime feel good huh?

I thought an exception was being made for French women, that they are thin and more feminine than other Western Europeans. What's the deal there?

RE: French feminists making war on language
loool I had a girl ask me if she expected me to take her name, I told her we were never getting married but if we did she would. I would have had said this, btw:

Girl: [if we got married] I wouldn't change my name.
Alpha: Is that right? Why not?
Girl: For one, I kinda like my name. And, it's too much of a hassle--with all of the paperwork and process for a name change. Plus it's expensive. I'd use your name, but I wouldn't change it officially. That's what Julia [her friend] is doing.
Alpha: Yeah, I understand. You can get out of my house now, we're a done deal. Thanks for playing.

Because she just said, "I don't really want to commit to you, I just want to pretend commit."

Golden Rule of Marriage: If I'm not worth your commitment, you're not worth my time.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was about the whole nouns being either masculine or feminine. Glad it's not. Anyway, it seems to me that France is swinging back to the right. so I'm not sure this will actually amount to anything.

France is a hotbed for radicalism (think the Paris Commune, May 1968 and the fact that modern France's official name is the FIFTH French Republic) Feminism included. Simone de Beauvoir is an example, also Neither Whores Nor Submissives which is a radical sort of right wing French feminist group which is very Islamophobic. That's France for you, in everything from philosophy to political theory to feminism French intellectuals are a collective basket case.

Edit: Alpha, all of Europe is swinging to the right this decade, far right anti-immigration (and sometimes neo-Nazi) groups are popping up all over Western Europe, like the British National Party, English Defense League, the National Front in France, Lega Nord in Italy and the Danish People's Party. Lega Nord was part of Berlusconi's coalition government. Neo-Nazism in Russia would also be a manifestation of this.

RE: French feminists making war on language
Language isn't the only thing under attack...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnew...group.html

French feminists are demanding that a giant statue of a sailor kissing a nurse – based on an iconic photo of a kiss in Times Square at the end of World War II – be removed from a war memorial site in Normandy because it allegedly depicts a sexual assault.

The 25 foot, 13 tonne sculpture, titled 'Unconditional Surrender', is based on a picture by Alfred Eisenstaedt that shows a sailor on VJ-day in 1945 kissing a woman with one arm around her waist and another behind her neck.

The work by American artist Seward Johnson was erected in late September in front of the Caen Memorial Museum, near Pegasus Bridge, at the start of a one-year loan by the Sculpture Foundation in California in preparation for events marking the 70th anniversary next year of the end of World War II.

But the French feminist group Osez Le Feminisme (Dare to be Feminist) has launched a petition, that has so far gathered more than 700 signatures, to have it removed and sent back to the United States.
They argue that the statue is "supposed to express the euphoria of the end of World War II, (but) it immortalises a sexual assault".

The group notes in its petition that the photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt has said the sailor in his photo was kissing any woman who came near to him, regardless of whether they were young or old, attractive or not.
"The sailor could have laughed with these women, embraced them, asked if he could kiss them with joy," said Osez Le Feminisme. "No, he chose to grab them, with clenched fists, to kiss them. It was an assault."

The director of the Caen Memorial Museum, Stephane Grimaldi, said he met this week with representatives of Osez Le Feminisme to hear their concerns but insists the statue will stay in place as it is an expression of joy and not a symbol of sexual aggression.
"The association the group makes in its petition between this sculpture and the rape by US soldiers of women during the war is scandalous," he told the Telegraph.

He said that Edith Shain, the woman who has claimed to be the nurse in the photo, never spoke of a sexual assault and said she happily let the sailor kiss her "because he had fought for his country".

But Mr Grimaldi said that as a concession a text accompanying the sculpture would note that there was some doubt over the identity of the nurse.
Another woman, an Austrian who lost her family in Nazi concentration camps, has also said she is the nurse and that she did not find the kiss in any way "romantic."

They're just jealous because they're not getting kissed like that.

A woman who refuses to take your last name in marriage isn't a woman worth marrying.

I'd take back the wedding ring if my fiancé ever tried to pull that on me. I'd demand this even for a "professional" woman like a researcher or actor. None of this Cuoco-Smelling BS.

I said this in another thread, feminism and leftism emasculate moderate religious and masculine voices. They remove the people who keep the hard liners (christian AND muslim) at bay.

It seems they will soon be getting their just dessert.

Never spent too much time in Eastern Europe, but goddamn do I love French girls, especially ones from the south. They possess an unparalleled duality, capable of being the most wildly seductive and feminine women in one instance while exemplifying the modern worlds most degenerate behavior in another. It's an attractive arrogance unique to them. I never got bored. When a good one has her hooks in you, you're tiptoeing along a cliff.

If it was two men kissing, one with short, green hair, the other wearing eyeliner... there'd be less of a demand to change it.

I got two problem with french language:
- everything is gendered... example: la voiture, ( car is a girl ) le baton. (stick is a boy)
- le penis is masculin and the logical part, and le vagin is also masculin wich is illogical.

There are more languages with gendered nouns (although not always the same amount or types of genders) than those without it - including most Western and Southern European languages, Slavic languages, Scandinavian languages and many others.

Absolutely. This is a war on heterosexuality and any image of a woman enjoying the company of a masculine man is being branded as "rape" by feminist demons.

Disgusting.
