Don't read, listen to music, or look at art much do you?
90% (I am being generous to your point here, its probably more like 99%) of the greatest in each category throughout history were smokers.
Quote:Lighten up, before something gets taken away from you that you care about. Adolf Hitler was the godfather of the "no smoking" movement. Not good company to be in.
Easily the dumbest thing I have read all week.
Read up on the subject and educate yourself before throwing out cowardly insults.
You will realize how "dumb" you are.
I took a look at some your posts to see if you have contributed anything of value to the forum, since I have no idea who you are.
My advice: stick to online dating.
Dude, shit-tests are for women.
I work in psychopharmacology and have spent two summers in a lab researching dopamine agonism (read: exactly what we are talking about), and am entering medical school next year. I have indeed read up on the subject. I have read medical textbooks that address nicotine and smoking of which you would not be able to understand a single page:

I'm not saying you're dumb, I'm saying the comments were dumb, which is obvious. I would immediately suspect an argument saying that you should smoke because Hitler said you shouldn't as a troll, but it appears you genuinely believe it. Hitler was a painter. Does that mean no one should paint because then they'll be like Hitler?
As you are just a dude on the internet, I don't really know who you are, nor do I care. It seems your main goal in life is to try your darndest to establish a personal brand based on a rudimentary personality. Best of luck with that.

RE: Why do you smoke?
Funny enough but I'd rather smell ganja smoke than cigarettes. If I interact with lizards, I don't mind if she smokes greens (I do not smoke) but I draw the line at smoking.
I really don't care what others do but the key is, that it doesn't bother me.
I don't like smoking because as a non smoker, it affects me. I can smell it and it's highly offputting. Many smokers usually have horrible smokey breath and ALWAYS smell of cigs. 9.75 out of 10, I can tell a cigarette smoker without him/her having lit up one in my presence.
The lizards are totally unappealing when they smell of smoke. In fact, I don't even think smokers should be allowed to kiss non smokers. I don't care how hot the smokers are (and yes there are some really hot lizards out there who smoke cigs).
There are a lot of very hot women out there who also shoot skag, smoke crack and fart regularly but that doesn't mean I will stomach my personal distates just for a slice of puzzy.
Smokers generally only like the smell of smoke when they are smokers. Once they stop smoking, they too agree that the smell is nauseating.
For a smoker to not understand how stink it can be to a non smoker is just an act of selfishness.
To give an example, in the privacy of my own home, I sometimes indulge in cranking out some really smelly farts but I have enough respect for others to either not do it in their presence or to excuse myself when I'm about to let one go. And I love the smell of my own farts.

"It looks cool"
Or smoking because "X" person did it
The only legitimate reason I have seen in this thread is that it reduces stress.
But is this even a legitimate reason? There is other ways to relieve stress. And half of stress is MENTAL. Something than can be controlled and manipulated.
Atleast with drinking I admit I only do it to be social and "fit" in. Which is a soft bitch mentality imo that I need to fix.
Smoking cigarettes is an amazing social prop, especially now that indoor smoking has been banned in much of the Western world. You can show up at the club/bar, jump outside to grab a cigarette, and you're instantly part of a group/counterculture - the smokers - who are oppressed, in some sense, by mainstream society. It's trivially easy to strike up conversation with strangers at this point, and much welcome. You also always have an excuse to ask someone for a light, and cute girls will often approach you for lights/cigarettes.
You laugh at the idea that it "looks cool", but it does - it gives you an instant, recognizable identity in a situation where you don't know anyone, and honestly, pretty much everyone looks cool smoking a cigarette. Even if you're walking alone at night by a group of 5 guys who look like they want to beat your ass - smoking a cigarette makes you look cooler and like less of a mark.
If it didn't make me feel like trash & didn't have obvious short term & long term negative health effects, I would smoke all the time... But I'd only smoke hand-rolled cigarettes.
Caveat: I haven't smoked for 10 years. I'll smoke a j if we're listening to dub and someone wants to smoke up, pretty much every time.

RE: Why do you smoke?
This thread makes me think of a girl I met last week. I opened her, then we walked around the venue (food trucks gathering), ate, chatted, etc. After she had finished her food, I saw her lighting a cigarette, so I pulled one of mine out and told her (not asked) to give me her lighter. Her eyes opened up wide, well, as wide as a Japanese girl's eyes can get, and she actually said, "and he smokes!" while smiling and rushing to give me her lighter. Giggling and shit.
Logistics didn't work then, but I saw her again a week later while I was out with another girl. Woke up to a text saying she would "like the chance" to get to know me better. She remembers the cool guy smoking. I'll give her that chance. Then I'll spark up a grit after I break her back.
Having typed that, this is all justification for my nasty cigarette habit. But where did it originate?
Working in the restaurant industry, you bust your ass, and when it's slow, you might want a break. If I were to go outside, just for some fresh air, I'd always be found by a manager.
"What are you doing out here?"
Just taking a quick breather.
"Get back inside."
With a cigarette:
"Hey, whenever you finish that, you need to go back inside."
Sure, boss.
"BTW, have you got another one for me?"
Of course.

RE: Why do you smoke?
Stress relief, I personally think it looks/feels cool, subliminal advertising (I see or hear "cigarette" or anything about smoking in a song, movie, poem, literature etc..) makes me want to smoke. It also helps me think, and helps me get inspired artistically, it increases my buzz (whatever buzz that may be.) And it is definitely a social thing for me. I am in no way trying to justify the negative aspects of smoking, but merely explaining why I choose to smoke. It is an expensive habit, I don't think it is disgusting, but I do realize the health risks. I've quit before, but I have also been smoking on and off for X amount of years. Just something I am into. Plus it's legal!
