Those prices are the equivalent USD in Bolivares. To see up to date rates download the "dollartoday" app. I am living in Maracaibo right now but have been to Merida, Ojeda, Cabimas and Chichiriviche. I will drop a data sheet when I have some time. For those considering coming to Venezuela please be aware that there is a big election coming up in December, I am told that it is going to get pretty out of control here (riots/Protests). Other than that It isn't really that dangerous if you take the regular precautions.

Yes she is top Venezuelan quality, which is no different than top Colombian quality. My only argument is that there are more young 7s to bang in Colombia, without all the baggage that comes with being in Venezuela.

You have 14 posts. You probably have spent a considerable more amount of time lurking than it would take you to drop a datasheet. If you want to contribute to this community, provide quality information. This could be your start.

I would like to mention that I had a friend robbed walking between the domestic and international terminals at the airport, so there is a bit of a risk.

The risk comes from needing to carry large quantities of cash to enjoy the 800-1 exchange rate, so you're an obvious target as a traveler. If you use the ATM the rate is something crazy like 8 to 1.

The elections in December may make a bit of a difference, but it's unlikely to do much according to my Venezuelan friends.

The conversions are probably accurate. Take the Intercontinental Caracas, which prices at a rate of 21,000 Bolivars. Thats $27 if you are using the black market rate of 800-1.

Do we have any guys who have been recently? A friend and I are going to try and spend a few weeks in VN this winter so I have a few questions.

1 .What would you say the safest city is? Is there a place where in VN where two gringos could go, take advantage of the currency problem, go out to bars, game a bit, and rent a nice pad without worry reasonable chance of being robbed or kidnapped?

2. Would renting an baller apartment paint a target on our backs?

3. Could you spend a month there without drawing too much attention.

I'm a local in Caracas, and like any other venezuelan I can tell you that safe cities do not exist, however I would tell you to go to Ciudad de Coro or maybe Barquisimeto that's as safe as it gets, you can do magic here with dollars and the bar/club scene is good, the "black market" is always willing to buy, cash or bank transference; remember the word "lechuga" (lettuce) that's the code word for dollars.

Now the general rule for your safety is to be cautious EVERY TIME especially when going out at night, be careful with anyone who looks at you strange even 12 year olds might try to rob you with a gun in the street, also telling everybody you're a gringo and new in town is not a good idea.

The baller apartment ain't such a good idea either, people coming out of high end property are usually targets for criminals and must take extra precaution (armored cars or bodyguards) if I was you would go for something well equiped but definitely discreet and this way, you could spend a month or more without worrying too much.

If you come here just make sure you rent a car, public transportation is utter shit.

Merida, for sure. Probably the safest city in Venezuela. A friend of mine offered me to rent an apartment for 1 dollar per day. Furnished, with Wifi. You heard it right, 1 dollar per day.

Did that trip 2 years ago with a fellow forum member.....hired a driver from Cucuta to Merida....interesting trip but I would not do it again.....was hassled a bit at Army checkpoints, basically poor soldiers looking for money and trying to scare us......Was not that impressed with Merida.....people were cold, and seemed depressed due to economy.

Girls were not even close to the talent you find in Colombia.....We did enjoy some of the outdoor activities as Merida is an adventure town/college town......but we were both ready to get back to Cucuta......and Cucuta is a shit hole......but way more attractive friendly girls and better nightlife in Cucuta compared to Merida......

From what I've read the safest and most valuable place to exchange money is on the border in Colombia. Is this true? DolarToday.com says the exchange right now is 838 vef to 1 usd.
