nah, hip hop isn't dead. there's still great music being put out. i actually saw nas perform live with large professor recently, pretty terrible. i really appreciate what the OG's brought to the game, but if they can't grow out of their formulaic ass conservative music, NY gotta take a L for all the washed niggas still around.

slime season 3 was good, but not like barter 6. i'm expecting hitunes to really cut through with the youth though. when i saw him and trav live during their rodeo tour (around the time of barter 6), i never experienced any concert like that. their performance is my gold standard. unbelievable energy.

Already dropped money on I'm Up and SS3. I'd feel like an idiot getting Barter 6 now, but maybe I'll give it a listen and see if it's worth it.

They'll push their shit back all the time and say they're busy working hard on it, then you look on their Twitter and Instagram and find out they're just sitting around with their boys getting high most of the day. I mean, good for them for being able to do what they want to do, but don't lie and say that you're "working hard" when you're just doping up.

The thing that I don't get about him though is that he decently spends a lot of time in the studio yet doesn't release as much music as he could.

Don't get me wrong, in the last 18 months we've had four mixtapes, two albums and a collab album from him which is definitely good.

But look at this - Just back in November, Southside said in an interview that Future was sitting on six albums and three mixtapes "Ready Right Now". Since then we've got one mixtape and one album, which means he's currently sitting on at least five albums and two mixtapes worth of music. Probably way more than that since he's had five months worth of studio time since then.

I guess I get it though, you don't want to flood your fans' ears. Give them time to listen to your shit. But still. I'm not an album guy, so the last Future project was three months ago which in my opinion only had a few takeaway tracks. Besides that, the last mixtape was over a year ago. My point is: He could definitely give his fans a lot more than what we get.

Oh, and why all the albums? Mixtapes are what made his fanbase get ridiculously huge in 2014/2015. His album career was garbage before that. Not saying he shouldn't release albums anymore, but it's obvious that fans (including myself) appreciate mixtapes over albums because they're free. Mixtapes show loyalty to your fanbase. And fuck me if Future isn't rich as fuck as it already is, it's not like he needs the god damn money from an album. So what gives with all the 'albums' ready to go and not mixtapes.

But that probably just makes me sound greedy and unappreciative, I still love the dude.

Kendrick Lamar’s new compilation album, untitled unmastered, was released on 4 March 2016.

‘Pimp pimp…Hooray!’

This album came unexpectedly, by some accounts. This has to be a personal project for Kendrick, as these are some of the tracks that were not included on the all-time classic, To pimp a butterfly (TPAB), which was released in 2015.
The music was recorded over a period of about a couple of years.

If you’ve listened to good kid m.a.a.d city and TPAB, your appreciation for the talents of Kendrick and those of his producers will only increase. Those familiar with his music will soak this up in the same way they did with TPAB and good kid m.a.a.d city.

It is wrong to be sceptical about this album. The sceptics will wonder if his previous work has simply been retreaded or exactly which of these eight tracks could have displaced any of the tracks on TPAB. However this is misguided as simply speaking this album is a showcase. Kendrick and his collaborators and producers continue to expand their creativity and here you will find a varied and multi-textured compilation of music that contains elements of jazz, in particular.

Unconventionally, instead of titles, the tracks are known by their supposed recording dates. For example, the lengthy (8 minutes long) untitled 07 is titled ‘2014-2016’. Untitled 07 is a three-part track and is also the first single, which is also known as ‘levitate’. Untitled 07 also features a different song after ‘levitate’ and concludes with a grainy jamming session in which Kendrick tries his hand at singing to simple guitar notes.

Fans might notice that a few of the tracks feature familiar beats and instruments heard in his previous two albums. Untitled 02 is remotely similar to ‘u’ from TPAB. Untitled 05, arguably the greatest piece of music on any of Kendrick's albums, is remotely similar to ‘real’, the eleventh track on good kid m.a.a.d city. Untitled 05 and 'real' feature the same frequent collaborator, the vocalist Anna Wise of Sonnymoon. Anna's vocals on Untitled 05 are utterly irresistible.

The album is literally unmastered, which makes for an interesting listen.
Also, there are segments of some tracks that could have been developed into stand-alone tracks. For instance, I wish the first 1 min. and 17 seconds of untitled 01 and its final 37 seconds were stand-alone tracks. It really is that kind of album.

The absolute stand-outs from this new album are untitled 05 and untitled 06.

He was partially right in a sense, especially from where he stood.

The NY & LA conglomerates died and the Dirty South won in the 2000s.

The Internet and technology dispersed the power and styles even further.

Good Hip-Hop is coming from all directions now.

Dirty South rap took over the POP charts in the 2000s if you call that a win then you are correct. "Ringtone rap" artists from the south were everywhere.

But the bestselling hip hop artists of that decade were:Em, Jay, Kanye, 50, Wayne and T.I.

I wouldn't call that South dominant but balanced as it should be.

You're right though, with the styles dispersed dope artists can come from anywhere now with no street cred or fake street cred(Rick Ross, Drake,etc), its a new era.

what? he dropped purple reign in january, and evol on febuary. they're both throwaways with a couple of bangers that he just put out (i'm assuming he's sitting on heat but doesn't want to put it out yet). all rappers stockpile their ammo.

I'm no computer whiz but I've always been under the impression they're pretty safe, you're downloading it from a bunch of different 'seeders' (people who upload it) so the risk is diluted, or that's what people who know about this stuff tell me haha. But anyway, I've got over 1000 albums on my iTunes, 99% of which I got from torrents and I've never had anything fishy happen

Just finished listening to Drake's new album Views.

Easily his worst work.

20 tracks and the only ones worth listening to were already released as singles.
