This is a thread I've had in mind for quite some time.

I had seen these on other boards and had wanted to see one like this on the RooshV forum. My intention for this Lounge thread is to be a place where topics generally related to game and travel, but not specifically related to existing threads, nor merit their own thread(s), can be posted.

To that end I expect that this thread will pretty much take a life of its own meandering back and forth and that is perfectly fine. Think of it as a "status update" (as bad as that sounds) for those times when you have something in mind that just needs to get out there. Everyone is welcome.

I'll set my own example below...

Sitting at a Airport hotel in Bangkok currently and sipping a Gin & Tonic. The last 3 weeks in SE Asia have been wild! mini data sheets on Bangkok and Hua Hin are coming as well as more substantive data sheets on Bali and Koh Lanta.

I already know I'm returning to Bangkok in the future, maybe even as soon as late spring.

Now I'm leaving all the tight Australian and Scandi talent behind to go home to -10 centigrade. Fuck.

I decided to browse the Facebook pages of some old high school acquaintances, and it's downright depressing. I don't know what is it about women in the midwest that can be so fresh-faced, and great looking in high school, but turn to complete crap when they hit 23! It's like someone came along, and beat them with a fat stick.

Reminds me that looking at the past is a fool's errand, and your best bet is to stay focused on the future.

It's like this all over this godforsaken country. I experienced the same thing in the DC area. Hot girls in high school and today they all project this fake sense of happiness and fulfillment as they pose with their kids and beta husband. The way they talk, you'd think they hit the lottery. Well, that's because it's all lies. Two years later and they're fucking divorced, dropping the kids off with their parents and moving to Miami to "find themselves."

It depends really, I don't know anything about you aside from what's in your profile which leads to believe that yes you would own. Nebraska doesn't suffer the same lack of excitement to the degree that folks in Iowa do but the difference is tiny.

I'm assuming with the accent your packing, and the fact you've visited so many countries.. you represent something unique and different to what girls usually see. They spend 365 days of the year with the usual drunk frat white guy from wherever, but most of the time those white guys are trying to emulate a style and culture they've only seen in the movies.

You represent authenticity, and that means your gold-plated. I'm surprised more foreign guys don't go on a pillage tour of the midwest where their accents, and sheer originality give them such a boost.

I'm not saying there isn't like literally two or three exchange students, but you should have no trouble being the most interesting guy wherever your going.

Word of warning.

Girls from the Midwest have a shelf life that is quicker than anything, and when they start going downhill.... they go fast. This doesn't mean you can't find some prime choice, I really can't emphasize enough the value of authenticity here.

Also I'm not sure exactly what to recommend in terms of style, it's just not that often you see someone rolling into one of the clubs in a custom suit, etc. It's usually a pair of blue jeans, and a shirt of whatever college football team they support.

So on the one hand this could give you an advantage, as it will only emphasize more your difference to the rest of the guys there, or it might alienate folks. The truth is I just don't know, so I'm hesitant to give a firm recommendation either way.

The only thing I will say is to play up that accent, it's embarrassing how effective that is around here.

When is the trip? But yea I've lived there on and off (mostly off) for the last several years as I have a lot of family there. Omaha is actually a pretty cool city it just happens to be in the middle of fucking nowhere and not near anything cool so most people think it sucks. There are a ton of good looking girls there, the bar/nightlife scene is pretty good, the average income is relatively high, and there are two universities in town.

Ha yea there are quite a few blondes from what I've seen. Well that sounds like you'd be there for St. Patty's Day, no? If you decide to go and you're there on that day, just know that the city gets pretty crazy for St. Patty's as Omaha has a large Catholic population. There is a bar called Clancy's (two of them in town) that straight up throws down for that day. I'd recommend hitting it up if you go.

I had an awkard experience a few weeks ago while in Honolulu, before I went to Maui, before I came where I am right now, San Francisco.

I went to Safeway late at night (this 24hrs thing you guys have in the US gets me crazy, it turned me into a bat!) to grab some snack. I go for a tuna sandwhich and some ice tea. I bring it back to my place (a small room in a shared apartment on a bulding complex of seemingly degenerate types in the heart of Honolulu) and start eating it while watching some anime on my laptop.

While I am eating, I bite something hard. "Fuck! A chicken bone!".

And then it hit me: why is there a chicken bone on my tuna sandwhich???

2 hour flight delay at BKK. Normally that would have felt like hell on earth but on this trip I'm flying business class. Cheap tickets obtained using linked method. This means I can sit around in the lounge enjoying free wi-fi, free booze and a buffet at the insanely large Thai Airways Royal Silk floor while being served by petite thai girls in ass hugging uniforms. Sure beats waiting for my connecting flight for 3 hours at Frankfurt.

The plastic containers fast food chains use for their spreads are interchangeable for ease of use and a lazy employee will likely not bother looking that hard when refilling.

As a kid I had a part-time gig at a fast food chain. It taught me to never eat fast food unless I can see all the ingredients before I'm served (as with subway or sushi).

Hey! I'm around, but not for long. I mentioned it over here. The city has a very nice vibe, I can totally get it why the hippies and the beats dug this place. And although I just landed and caught a cold, I like this chilly weather, and sometimes wished my homecity (Rio) had something of a winter so it would have a bit more of an indoor vibe as well... I might stay long enough to make it to the weekend, but still not sure, will be sorting that out soon.

Go and check it out for yourself. I personally have a distaste for England as a whole (mind you- England, not UK. I dig Scotland), but there are people that enjoy it. The Brits have a good sense of humour, and London is quite cosmopolitan. I'm not that much into "museums" and all, but the few museums that I like are contemporary art museums, and London's TATE Gallery is quite cool for that. I like crazy art, and London has its share of it. It also has a cool and very creative music scene.

It is a good place if you like Indian food too. Just hope you don't find any lost chicken bone on it.
