Hey,

I bought a ticket from Bogotá to NYC for $200 on Spirit air. Yet if I want to fly to Ecuador or Panama, it seems that $700 is the going rate, with a $500 or $450 flight being a great deal. And Brazil or Mexico? Forget it...

That's some old bullshit. There has GOT to be a cheaper way to fly a few hundred miles in Latin America. Who has the hookup?

P.S. I have bused, and will bus, through mountains in Latin America. I'm not averse, but if I wanna go far away maybe I just wanna get there...

I think you get better deals once you get to South America and try and buy tickets there. Or try and find out about some of the Airlines in the country you are going to be in. As far as getting there form NY, I feel like you should start in Colombia and fly to the other places from there. If you are going on a multi country trip that's gotta be the cheapest way. I know when I was looking on bing and other websites, for plane tickets within Brazil were much more expensive than with the national and South American airlines.

I'm currently based outta Bogotá, and know many other people in the same situation. Haven't heard of a flight to Panama City or Quito for less than $450. Flights WITHIN Colombia are a different story, but it seems that national borders quadruples prices.

Is travelling by bus safe in Colombia? I was in Medellin last year and making my way to Cartagena and was told not to take a bus due to the risks of kidnapping. Hope you find a cheap flight.

So why don't you just take a flight to a town close to the border and take a bus from there? It couldn't be too far to Quito, Ecuador's a small country.

Flights in Latin America are ridiculously expensive, and I still don't know why. I was looking at making a trip in February. And I found a deal from Boston to Lima for $450 RT. Then I was talking to my friend in Guatemala about visiting him. You'd think Guatemala would be cheaper. Nope, $750 RT at the least.

I am american but my spanish is pretty sick since I spent a couple years in Madrid. I was thinking of going to Rio because I've heard so much buzz but wats a hot spot in South America to hit if you want to meet hot chicks and your second language is spanish not portuguese. any suggestions or comments would be highly appreciated, cool forum Roosh
