Thinking about buying a spanish learning book. Anyone have any solid rec's?

I know basic shit, I need more help learning the verbs and saying things properly (ie literal and figurative translations)

This book helped me a bunch. It's less of a reference and more of an overview of common problems and difficulties that English speakers have when learning Spanish. It has very good explanations of stuff like the subjunctive, direct and indirect object pronouns, etc.

I came to South America with some rusty high school Spanish. I've studied out of Practice Makes Perfect: Complete Spanish Grammar by Gilda Nissenberg and I've found it really helpful.

I have the exact same one as Arobin.$12.95 very long and concise. Has everything you need to master the language. All you need is time, patience and motivation. Learning a language is a hard task, that takes time and practice to master. Hence why many people jack it in. But if you stick at it you will be rewarded, especially with the better quality of pussy you can pull!

This is a good book....first things first you need to get to a point where you can read spanish and pronounce the words correctly out loud before books are really going to help you.
The good news is spanish is very easy to learn how to read....I think it took me a day or two before I could read and pronounce just about any spanish word put infront of me.....you need to get to this point before spending a lot of time with just a book.
