Was there something weird going on at UltraBar that night? I've been to lots of places in DC, and while the ratio is not awesome, I've never seen 7:1 m:f. Maybe we need another more recent photo, although I'm not paying $ to get in that place.

I spent two months in Vitoria so I wanted to add my two cents here.

I stayed with a Brazilian friend which was great for my social life because he introduced me to a lot of people, and from them I met even more people. Vitoria is definitely a small town: I was walking with my friend down the street and someone I hadn't met yet stopped to talk and said, "Hey is this the gringo that's staying with you?" I found that almost nobody spoke English in Vitoria, which was great for learning Portuguese but not so great for pickup. The only girl I hooked up with in Vitoria was also the only girl I met who spoke fluent English.

One thing that nobody has mentioned yet is that every Friday at UFES (Universidade Federal do Espirito Santo) there is a big Rock concert and all of the college kids go there. Its free to get in and guys sell beers for 2-3 Reais. It would help to have a friend take you there because your friend will continually be bumping into other friends of theirs.

I was there during Brazilian winter and Guarapari was completely dead. In an apartment complex of 40 families, only 3 of them were living there during the winter. Its a tourist town only worth checking out in the summer.

Yep, Guarapari is only good for 2 or 3 months out of the year. Weren't you suprised at the quality and quantity of the girls there? And agreed also Vitoria would def. be tough without Portuguese.

I used to sit at Cafe Bamboo using their free WiFi and groups of 3 and 4 garotas de parar o transito would come in for a bowl of acai. I honestly didn't realize how hot the girls in Vitoria were until I got back to the US and saw ugly girls for the first time in many months. I may be exaggerating a little bit, but not very much.

Granted that girls in Vittoria tend to be more cliquish than the rest of the country, would they still be hard to be opened by someone classy who speaks fluent Porto? I haven't had problems in BSB, CWB and FOR but I did have social networks there. But in Vittoria, I wouldn't have the safety of the social network there. So should I pass on Vittoria or give it a go? Vittoria experts I'm all ears. Valeu gente.

Its hard for me to comment on how the girls would react to a classy gringo since I was mostly hanging around college kids.

I will say though that if you do go to Vitoria and you want to connect with the movers and shakers of Espirito Santo then you should eat lunch at Casa do Porto (http://www.casadoportovinhos.com.br/). The former governor is a frequent guest there as well as the upper crust of Vitoria.

I just came across this. Wiki is saying Vitoria has the 3rd highest homicide rate in all of Brazil. Almost triple that of Rio. It didn't seem like it where I was, but from what I hear the downtown and surrounding towns are very dangerous. If you stay near the three neighborhoods of Cambori though you should be fine. This source is also saying that there are just as many homicides in DC as there are in Rio. Sao Paulo has the second least homicide rate of Brazil's capital cities, I found that pretty shocking.

So Fortaleza where I visited and seemed pretty sleepy to me has going on for 1000 homicides a year. That's pretty high for a city of 2.5 million!

I was hooked up in Votoria so my experience may be different than yours if you visit. Like I said I already had a group of friends I had known for a while in the US that grew up in Vitoria, so I was kinda automatically accepted in their clique. Everyone seemed super friendly that I met and always tried helping me out. I could see it possibly being a tough place to open as there aren't a ton of day game spots. But reguardless Vitoria is definitely worth spending at least a couple weeks in for the girls alone. I live in South Beach, and still it doesn't compare to Vitoria. Hands down the most beautiful and best ratio of women I've ever seen.

I just spent a couple weeks in Vitoria and wanted to put down what I figured out while it’s fresh. Thanks to International Playboy and Roosh as most of my info is just an elaboration of what they have already said.

When to (not) Go

Don’t go right after Carnaval. I repeat, DO NOT GO AFTER CARNAVAL. We spent the two weeks after Carnaval in Vitoria and that was our biggest mistake. A lot of people were still on vacation, the university wasn’t back in session, and one of the three clubs was not even open. InternationalPlayboy recommended the summer window (December-Carnaval) and I can confirm that people I knew in SP did come here to go to the beach at that time. Regardless, the two weeks after Carnaval are definitely not the time to come.

Where to Stay

Hotel Formule 1 (Praia do Canto) – We stayed here for 2 nights while we were apartment hunting. It’s $R99/night and for another $R3/day you can buy a wireless internet access card that works great. The rooms are small, but they have a room where you can get a twin bed that lofts over the queen, so if you're travelling with a friend it's pretty cheap. It’s a good location, easy walking distance to O Triangulo and all the main clubs. There are some hotels in better locations, but I think this one is the best value and still puts you close enough to the action. Also, staff was very helpful. Gave us recommendations on how/where to find an apartment.

If you want to stay long term and get an apartment, I recommend looking at the classifieds in the paper. You’ll have to speak Portuguese to call/negotiate, but prices in the paper were much cheaper than what I found on the Internet. If you google “alugar apartamento temporada vitoria” you can find some online classifieds and sites that have apartments as well.

We stayed in the southern half of Praia do Canto which was fine. I never felt in danger. It was walking distance to all the nightlife locations and a beach where they had some basic workout equipment. I think Jardim da Penha would be good too, it’s close to the Praia de Camburi beach with a nice sidewalk to check out. Jardim da Penha is also right next to the University, so potentially a better spot for day gaming when the University is in session. It’s a longish walk (half an hour) or a quick taxi ride to Praia do Canto.


Nightlife

I found the nightlife in Vitoria to be really limited when I was there. The main problem is that almost all the places to go out are “barzinhos,” little bars with lots of tables where you sit around with your friends. It’s great if you want to hang out with friends, but the logistics for approaching aren’t very good. If you like that the two main places to look are O Triangulo (Praia do Canto neighborhood, Juaquim Lírio and João da cruz) and Rua da Lama (Jardim da Penha neighborhood, actual name of the street is Av. Anísio Fernandes Coelho. It’s the section of the street closest to UFES, the university).

There are 3 clubs in Vitoría. Royal Club, São Firmino, and Casa Club. I did hear about the places in Guarapari (a beach town about 45 minutes South of Vitoria, but I didn’t go so I won’t comment. It is apparently a huge tourist destination for people in Espirito Santo and Minas Gerais.). All three clubs are in the Praia do Canto neighborhood, 1 in O Triangulo, and the other two further south.

Royal Club – Unfortunately this place was closed the entire time I was in town. It was supposed to have a big reopening on a Thursday that we were going to hit up but they canceled it. It was recommended by a lot of the girls I talked to in the other two clubs though, so it’s probably worth looking into.

Casa Club – Only went here one night and was not impressed. A lot of older women (not the hot kind) and not a very good ratio. Most of the girls seemed to hang out in the VIP area though so if you go, I’d think about getting a VIP wristband. One of the girls I talked to though said I had picked a bad night. She said Saturdays were usually the best.

Sao Firmino – Went here a few times and found it to be the best of the available options. Get your name on the list and get there before 11 though. With your name on the list and arriving before 11pm, consumption (consumção) is R$60, otherwise it’s a R$100. As to how to get your name on the list, you have to call the club and ask because they have no option to do it on the website that I could find. Another reason to get there early is that girls drink free until from 10pm midnight so the ratio is fantastic early and slowly declines as the night progresses. I liked logistics here as well, especially for solo game. There is a huge bar where you can easily post-up and have the girls come to you when they order drinks. Best night is Friday.

Day Game

The only place I found good for day game was the “Shopping Vitoria.” It’s a big modern mall in the SE corner of the city, right before the bridge to Vila Velha. Girls were friendly, but I can’t say much more because my day game sucks and trying to Ramble in Portuguese only exacerbates that.

Disclaimer: If you don’t speak Portuguese, I’m not sure I would come here. I came with my friend who speaks absolutely no Portuguese and he had a miserable time. We were planning on staying a month, but we’re headed back to Rio after two weeks because he couldn’t find hardly anyone that spoke English.
The girls overall were hot, but I’m not sure they were that much hotter than the rest of Brazil. Now given, I came at a bad time of the year. But considering the clubs had a R$70-100 consumação, I didn’t find the quality any better than SP. I also didn’t find the girls overly friendly or as interested in my Gringo status as Rio or SP. One of the things I’ve taken for granted being in Brazil for the last 8 months is that I haven’t had to build attraction. In my experience as a gringo, the attraction is either there at the start or it ain’t coming (at least for me, but I can’t say my game is super-tight). Here I had to work a lot harder to build attraction.
The main difference in girls here was the much more reserved/conservative feel. InternationalPlayboy mentioned this is the kind of place you would want to go to find a wife, not rack up notches. I think that’s a very accurate way of putting it. I did one Day 2 with a girl here and she was very much in that vain. Very sweet, very cute. The kind of girl you want to get in a relationship, not someone you are going to bang on the first night.

Touristy Shit

Shopping Vitoria – nice mall, see Day Game section for location
Convento da Penha – Old monastery on a hill that offers a nice view of the city
Beaches – the beaches by Praia do Canto and Jardim da Penha are nice for walking, but I was told not to swim there. They are trying to clean up the pollution and I didn’t really want to risk it. The beaches in Vila Velha are the nicest and only a short bus ride away from Vitoria.

Great data sheet. I was thinking of heading to Vitoria for 6 weeks in April/May, thinking I'll skip it now. My portuguese isn't super tight (I've only spent time in Portugal, not Brazil yet), and I don't know anyone there. Swells seem to be good starting in May, and seems like it wouldn't be too crowded, that's a big plus to give up. Have you spent time in Porto Alegre?

Nice data sheet. I think its pretty obvious now, that Vitoria is not a players paradise and that there are alot better cities to choose from in Brazil. If you want a city that has similar quality of girls, Id choose Belo Horizonte. Though the girls there arent easy in general, you will find alot more variety in terms of the girls personalities and some easy girls (especially the girls from the suburban towns close to BH). If you stay there a month, a one night stand is possible and with decent portuguese or spanish, 4 or 5 different bangs is very doable.
Note Try to get a girls from suburban towns 40 to 60 minutes away from the center of BH to come visit you at a mall close to your pad. This can be done through internet sites like Badoo or Tagged. Most of the girls from these places are extremely bored and being away from their friends and homes makes them much easier targets. But do have some portuguese skills.

I have been to Porto Alegre, but it was a quick trip (3 days) and mostly business oriented so I can't comment much on gaming. I do like those size cities in general as far as lifestyle (big enough to have options and variety, but still very accessible in terms of size). My main experience with Porto Alegre was a girl I met from there in Rio over Carnaval. Suffice it to say, it was a positive experience.

Out of curiosity, does anybody have any insight on Vila Velha? Would that be a good place to stay? Thanks for all the insight ppl. The logistics of this city come off as a bit confusing at first impression but will read Roosh's Brazil guide again along with the posts here to see what I can do. I might be here for a week before hitting up Balneariu de Camboriu to visit a friend mid-late December.

Any reason in particular you are looking to stay in Vila Velha? Vitoria should be a little more practical to go out. I hear there actually are some good spots in Vila Velha, but don't know much insight. From what my friends told me it's pretty dangerous in most parts. The safest parts to stay are most likely gonna be close to the beach. But honestly, if it's for the price of accommodation, check out this site.... http://www.easyquarto.com.br/ I haven't looked, but I'm sure you can find a place for cheaper than you'd expect in Vitoria. As far as Hotels, the cheapest you'll find in Vitoria is probably about $45 a night by now. There are no hostels unless one has been built in the last 3 years. Airbnb is always a good option. The only pluses I see to staying in Vila Velha is it has a nicer beach and that you're closer to Guarapari. If you plan on going in the next couple weeks, you have to make it to Guarapari. The nicest girls and most the good parties are gonna by going on during the weekends there for the next 6 weeks or so until Carnaval. All the Capixbas (People of ES) and Mineros (People from Minas Gerais) got to Guarapari this time of year. You'll have a blast! And get ready for some great talent! To be honest, this time of the year I would spend the weekends in Guarapari and week days in Vitoria. When the girls are in Guarapari they are a little easier, because they are on "vacation." I would recommend not staying in Vitoria during the weekends, cause like I said, everyone will be in Guarapari. Just read up, all the info should be there. Def. check out Mais and Lua Azul.

Guarapari it is indeed one day! Thx for all the input. I only mentioned Vila Velha bc those were the only searches I could find for Vitoria on Airbnb, haha. But I'll try other sites in addition to homeaway.com as well.

I appreciate the plethora of info as I read up stuff on this thread and the other Vitoria thread. Out of curiosity, has anybody ever experienced Guarapari or Vitoria during the week(s) of Carnaval? I know good info has been written about this place during summer and to NOT go after Carnaval, but some testimonies about Carnaval week in Vitoria would be greatly appreciated. This appears to be my destination of choice during Carnaval 2014 as I would need a place to visit. Thx.
