It’s the kind of news that could make Don Juan feel faint.

A Brazilian town that is entirely made up of young, ‘extremely attractive’ women has made an appeal – for single men.

Noiva do Cordeiro, in southeast Brazil, has a 600-strong population that is entirely female, with sons sent away at 18 and the few husbands only allowed in town on weekends.

And while that might sound perfect to some, the young women in the town are growing increasingly frustrated at the absence of men – and have made an appeal for eligible bachelors to step forward.

‘Here, the only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us, everyone is a cousin. I haven’t kissed a man for a long time,’ Nelma Fernandes, 23, told The Mirror.

‘We all dream of falling in love and getting married. But we like living here and don’t want to have to leave the town to find a husband.’

The unusual settlement was founded by Maria Senhorinha de Lima, branded an adulterer and excommunicated after fleeing her forced marriage.

Other women rejected by society joined her in isolation – and Noiva do Cordeiro was born.

A TOWN consisiting entirely of women has made an appeal for batchelors - but only those willing to live by female rules, it was reported today (wed)...Over 600 women make up the population of Noiva do Cordeiro, southeast Brazil - most aged between 20 and 35...Although some are married with families, their husbands are made to work away from home, only being allowed to return at weekends...Sons are sent away when they reach 18 and no other men are permitted to live in the town, which sits in a remote valley 60 miles east of Belo Horizonte...The settlement dates back to the 1890s, when a young woman and her family were excommunicated from the Catholic church after she was accused of adultery...Slowly more single women and mother-only families joined the community, and over the decades several attempts by men to intervere in their way of life made them adopt a strictly 'no male' policy...

But before you book your flights, gents, there is a caveat:

‘Do what we say and live according to our rules,’ says Nelma.

‘There are lots of things that women do better than men. Our town is prettier, more organised, and far more harmonious than if men were in charge.

‘And there’s always time to stop and gossip, try on each other’s clothes and do each other’s hair and nails.’

I was thinking something along those lines as well.

Women are just not capable of running a town. These girls have on some level recognized that they need alpha leadership in town.

Their requirement that guys follow their rules is a shit test to make sure that only guys who are capable of laying down the law show up in town.

We should round up a group of Portuguese speaking pet shop seekers and make this town ours.

The two girls in the marketing picture are not particularly hot by regional standards. Being in the marketing picture suggests they are the hottest on offer. If you are already in south east Brasil this place might be worth a day trip, but that day had better be very rewarding before staying more than a night.

Old moldy catladies do the separatist society thing from time to time, and this story smells of toxoplasmosis. During the 1970's and 1980's there were quite of few attempts at this in the US and they inevitably collapsed due to normal female status fighting. This sounds exactly like that kind of trap.

What I wonder about are the rules they aren't advertising.

Granted, the BBC is not to be trusted but this does not sound like something that would exist (are they building and maintaining their own dwellings and providing all their material comfort and security needs themselves or are men doing all that?) and, if it did in fact exist, it sounds like some kind of feminist matriarchal utopia project which means the women are likely all lesbians and/or body positive or something like that so not worth the effort to go all the way out there to try to get with them. That or it's a retirement community for widows and divorcees, in which case it is still not worth the effort to go out there and find them.

If you really want to find a place with way more women than men, just find some area where most of the men have recently died in some kind of armed conflict like how Paraguay was right after the Paraguayan War.
