These, for noise-isolating. Noise-canceling is overrated.

depends on what you want them for ... many professional DJs say that Sennheiser HD25 are the best headphones out there ...

Beats by Dr dre is for kids or a certain race.

Grado has more industrial look and only certain people will recognize it.

I can think of buying only Sennheiser momentum. Others look really ugly.

I have B&O which has minimal design I like.

I have a pair of these, which I wear to the gym. Decent sound and isolation, but I find them a little heavy and they slip out of my ears often.

For circumaural headphones, I have AKG 240's, and I love them. They are less than US$70 right now in Amazon.

Beside the clear sound, the cord is also detachable, which means you can can replace the cord if it gets damaged instead of throwing out the whole headphone.

RE: let's talk headphones
Gotta weigh in on this. I've been listening through Shure SH440s for a couple of years now and they're amazing. Circumaural with a coiled cord and 1/4" adapter for stereos and music equipment. The sound is great and flat, so it doesn't over emphasize bass or treble in my opinion. I also picked up some Shure SE215s which for the money (~$100) is one of the best values available as it comes with removable foam and rubber tips (foam gives a great seal) and a removable cable which is a rarity at that price point (a new cable is about $40-50 which lets you keep the fully functioning earpiece). I wouldn't mind picking up a pair of middle of the road Grados or B&Ws but ill wat for the Shures to crap out (if they ever do) before I upgrade.

ATH-M30 M40 M50, all great.

Their wired and wireless dynamic mics are great as well.

Just ordered a pair of the 5.A. Went to an audiologist today to get ear molds made. The headphones should be ready in about a month. Custom fitted earbuds cancel out the noise and creates superior sound. It's hard to go back to cheap headphones after using a pair like this.

Awesome it seems that these three are the best bang for your buck if you don't want to spend more than $150

I used to do film and music mixing. I really enjoyed using these headphones. Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

I have the 80ohm version of these, had them for about 7 years, they still work great. I use them for music production/mixing/critical listening, just about everything really.

Focal Spirit Pro's will be my next purchase, tons of 5 Star reviews everywhere, can't wait to grab these.

My DJ headphones are the Sennheiser HD25-1 II (Industry standard for underground house DJ's as well as sports broadcasters)

Interesting, are these better than the Ultimate Ears?

Best headphones ever. I've had them for almost a year now. The quality is superb and it's reasonably priced.

(They're earpods, technically, but who gives a fuck, right?)

RE: let's talk headphones
If you are looking for a comfortable and great sounding headset I can confirm the siberia v2 frost edition can really bump and has great sound clarity. Just make sure you download the software so that it uses the built in audio amp on the usb and you will never want to listen to them at full volume it is damaging to your ears and the bass is far more than any beats headphones I have ever heard. These have an elastic band that make them really light on your head and you forget they are there, I used these for gaming for 9+ hours at a time no problem. I am probably going to buy another pair after my current headset (sennheiser g4me zero) breaks because honestly sound quality is on par with these sennheiser's for 1/3rd the price!

I went to guitar center and listened to the sony and audiotech's....they both sound good but sony's sound very flat and neutral, to bland for my personal taste while the audiotech's feel "alive" with a more surround sound. the sony's also looked like they would fall apart a lot quicker than the audio tech's and did not come with a leather pouch. extremely happy with my audiotech purchase, here is a smooth song that sounds great with good speakers

Quite the opposite, those Sony's are massively popular and last years. Maybe not the best for everyday listening. They are studio headphones after all - that flat sound is ideal for producers and engineers.

THIS. I'm really glad I got these.

They're pretty large, and not comfortable when they are around your neck, but on the flip side they are also great earmuffs in the wintertime.

And of course they sound greatmrgreen

I know how popular they are Biz, they are to flat and neutral sounding. There is no emotion to the sound, they sound boring

I used this site to "test" many headphones. I eventually decided on the Audio Technica ATH-M50x. Really good set of cans. I don't even want to listen to music while driving anymore because I feel like I'm ripping myself off.
