I was never huge into "Wrestling".

As a kid growing up it was something I only got to see when I was over at a friend's house.

I briefly considered it a guilty pleasure when I was in my early 20s with characters like The Rock.

By this time I would see Flair come out, unathletic, saggy tits, with hot dog skin.

I hated watching him and also didn't really care much for his antics of being a badass when he looked like he was about to die.

Years later after a little uncomfortable red pill indoctrination I came across this quote: You can't be first but you can be next.

And "To be the man you gotta beat the man".

I had forgotten about all this until I clicked on this video the other day and it just tickled me to death.

Right on Fisto! Growing up I was a big Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, and Razor Ramon fan and I hated Flair but as I have gotten older and more red pill, I found that I love me some Ric Flair. He had alot of the same masculine frame we preach around in the Manosphere.

When I was a kid my friends and I used to wrestle all the time. Razor Ramon, Undertaker, and The Hitman Bret Hart were my favorites.

Later on Steve Austin was my favorite, but around 2001 I stopped watching.

Just the other day I came across that Youtube video I posted above, gave it a watch and started laughing my ass off. I didn't find Flair funny when I was a kid, but looking back he was pretty awesome.

I've just been re-watching old WCW Nitro's on the WWE network and Flair is killing it in and outside of the ring.

He was a real pussy hound back in the day and hat many a ring rat waiting for the chance to ride on space mountain.

Damn how could I forget about Brett! I liked him but did not like Owen until he died. The Rock was almost everyone's favorite. He just talked sooo much trash! You never knew what he was going to say next.

Bret was one of the best technical wrestlers I've watched. He very rarely missed a spot.

Flair was an excellent wrestler and knew how to play the crowd/opponent perfectly.

Even though he was a heel, the crowd still loved him.

Flair was indeed amazing. If only he would write his autobiography "To be the man" in not such a watered down version, him partying in NWA years in North Caroline area had to be legendary. Both Mick Foley books are unbeatable in this case.

Flair even when he was almost 50 could produce a decent match against really unskilled opponent. And his speeches were legendary (too bad not much material is available online), but you can watch WCW Monday Nitro from 1997-1999 on Youtube.

But I think I've liked Roddy Piper even more.

Ric Flair's wrestling persona is awesome.

But Ric Flair the person made millions, but is in his 60s and broke. He spends his money on gold diggers and a lavish lifestyle he can't afford trying to show how awesome he is. That's why he still have to work in his golden age, while his peers like Roddy Piper and Mitch Foley don't.

He is also well known to be a brown noser, a back stabber, a pussy and got to the top because of back stage politics.

Of course I agree that Flair personal life after 2000 was a mess. But at least he got to his 60's alive and in relatively good health, which on its own is a big achievement in wrestling among top players from 80's.

But this is interesting and I'm not sure I agree. Among guys who made it big in 80's and 90's I would say he was the most likeable guy backstage, the most willing to look opponent good in matches and ready to lose to them in fashion which was good for business. Guys like Hogan, Warrior, Shawn Michaels were really uncooperative, even if Michaels was amazing wrestler too.

Compare it to Hogan and his backstage politics before WCW Starcade 1997, which ultimately was beginning of the end for them.

I read Foley biographies, so I know about his complaints. I wouldn't trust a word from Douglas or Steiner though.

I am not saying Flair was a saint, I'm just saying that wrestling is similar to politics - basically all top wrestlers had to get their hands dirty to go to the top (maybe except Goldberg, as his push to the stardom was instant). Considering all the names who were at the top I consider Flair one of the better guys among them.

You can find dirt on Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker too, but it's names like HHH, Michaels, Hogan. Warrior who were considered the worst of them by wrestling insiders.

Glad to see a Pro-Wrestling thread on the forum.

I've been watching since I was four; in the 'Ruthless Aggression Era'. Grew up with hard-hitting guys like Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar.
Majority of the guys active in the early 00s, except Austin, were your traditional 'Wrestling Character'.

Fortunately, a few years back I discovered Ultimate Warrior's Youtube channel. The guy is a powerhouse of masculinity. From his unapologetic inspirational speeches and menacing tonality, the guy is an icon. Guy inspired me to get into Pro-Wrestling Training.





Ric Flair is a badass. Jim Ross (wrestling commentator) actually tells a story during his One-Man Show in New York about a time when he'd party with Flair. Ric could control a whole room.

Sadly his lavish lifestyle is catching up with him. He's fallen on hard times money-wise and his son's death couldn't have helped him.

Ric Flair is definitely one of the greats, no doubt about it. He brought his own flair to the Four Horsemen group, along with Arn.
