As always it starts as a trading union with the conspicuous capacity to alter it's rules without the consent of the parliament of the individual member states.

The next thing you know they're creating a single currency before enforcing austerity in non-performing states.

Later they bitch about member states having referendums to leave before they've had a chance to dissolve the national armed forces and taxation systems of the member states in favour of creating one grotesque puddle of collectivist puke.

Lay the legal framework as innocuous and innocent sounding "trade partnerships", "environmental initiatives", "regional cooperation". What it really does however is cement supra national control while diluting the power of the citizenry.
