Maryland's new "red flag" law will confiscate your guns if a Tinder date complains
The new law, which was enacted on October 1, will allow practically anyone connected to, including a random thot you're banging, complain to the police and say you're "dangerous". The police will then be able to legally confiscate your guns.
The law: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMai...&id=HB1302
Summary:
Quote:#1 What is the ‘red flag’ law?
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed a bill for extreme risk protective orders into law.
It has become known as the red flag law which allows a judge to temporarily take someone’s guns away if they are found to be a risk to themselves or others.
#2 How does it work?
A petition must be filed in court to explain the potential dangers.
A judge will need specific reasons why the person in question might harm themselves or someone else.
The petition also must include things, such as, how many guns the person has and where the weapons are.
If approved, a judge has the authority to take someone’s guns away within hours when someone sounds the alarm.
The details would be sorted out in court within a couple of weeks.
#3 Who can file a petition?
There are only a handful of people allowed to do file petitions under the new law.
Law enforcement
Health professional
Spouse or family member
Someone the person is dating or has children with
Current or former legal guardian
#4 What if someone is lying?
The red flag law covers this particular issue.
If a petitioner is found to be making false claims or embellishing the truth, they could face perjury charges and jail time. [Yeah, right.]
“A petition must also… be signed and sworn to by the petitioner under penalty of perjury,” the law reads.

One month after the law was passed, they executed a man who refused to give up his gun.
Quote:Two Anne Arundel County police officers serving one of Maryland’s new “red flag” protective orders to remove guns from a house killed a Ferndale man after he refused to give up his gun and a struggle ensued early Monday morning, police said.
The subject of the protective order, Gary J. Willis, 60, answered his door in the 100 block of Linwood Ave. at 5:17 a.m. with a gun in his hand, Anne Arundel County police said. He initially put the gun down next to the door, but “became irate” when officers began to serve him with the order, opened the door and picked up the gun again, police said.
“A fight ensued over the gun,” said Sgt. Jacklyn Davis, a police spokeswoman.
One of the officers struggled to take the gun from Willis, and during the struggle the gun fired but did not strike anyone, police said. At that point, the other officer fatally shot Willis, police said.
Neither officer was injured, police said, and neither of their names was released.

They're not going to come for your guns all at once. Instead, they will knock on your door when you're alone and unprepared, just like how Stalin's NKVD would come in the dead of night to send you off to the gulags.
The only way to stop this is to live in a tight-knit community with a "neighborhood police watch" program and immediately show up at the house of any neighbor who has been targeted for gun confiscation via WhatsApp-like text message groups.

As someone living in a cuck state of a cuck nation on guns, no, it's not "simple".
Gun culture goes away because cucks choose to fly under the radar and when the government moves to legislate further against gun ownership they cite the fact that "it's no longer a part of our culture".

Seems like the end result of this would be creating white no-go zones. Which certainly works, the reason police are such cowards in Europe when dealing with muslims is because a handful of cops is easily taken out by a mob and they can't afford to do full scale swat operations every time they want to give someone a ticket for jaywalking.
Problem obviously is now you don't have any of the useful police coverage in the area, since actual criminals will also try to use the vigilantes to take out the police coming after them. You could try to vet each person that paticipates in the system, but then you aren't covering the whole area, are easily infiltrated, and the authorities are going to just pick off the troublemakers like they did in waco or ruby ridge.

The gov't of Maryland sounds dangerous. Please take their guns away.

I think states in the USA have their own laws...
...that are subordinate to the US Constitution. It is the reason why the Southern States don't have Slavery any more, when they entered the union once again post civil war, the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were already part of the constitution. In a similar vein, federal law us supposed to have more power than State laws. That is the reason why people cant smoke weed in places like Denver, without being subject to arrest from one of the many different Federal LEO's. Whether that is practical or not, is another conversation. Having said that, Federal and State Governments have frequently butted heads throughout the history of the republic.
In general, you are right, what is passed in Maryland does not affect what happens in other states, outside of the fact that states take ideas from other states. I am not worried about this two states away in the right direction. Of course I am thankful that this is not a federal law, though I am sure that it is part of the march for the Dems.
As far as whether this can be overturned in the supreme court, maybe. Years from now and millions of dollars later.

RE: Maryland's new "red flag" law will confiscate your guns if a Tinder date...
148 guns were seized in the first 3 months of the law:
Quote:Maryland courts have seized guns from 148 people in the three months since the state enacted a law designed to take weapons from people who are danger to themselves or others.
Four of the gun owners posed “significant threats” to schools, an official told state lawmakers Tuesday.
Montgomery County Sheriff Darren M. Popkin (D), who has helped train police officers across the state about the “red-flag” law, said he could not provide details about the gun seizures — including those that could have led to school shootings — because of a confidentiality rule.
But, Popkin told the House Judiciary Committee, “these orders . . . are saving lives.”

RE: Maryland's new "red flag" law will confiscate your guns if a Tinder date complains
In my opinion the most fundamental flaw with the Constitution of the US and more importantly the Bill Of Rights is that it provides no penalties for subverting it or attempting to skirt around its protections.
You have the Federal Government itself, then the dozens of states and beyond them the countless districts, councils and municipalities, and every subversive or crooked governing body has functionally little to no penalty for simply burying the Constitution in an avalanche of petty, tyrannical laws.
We're going to ban this type of gun.
It gets struck down a year later at massive expense to the taxpayer and the defendant?
Who gives a fuck? We'll shift a comma in the legislation and try again tomorrow.
There should be a year long mandatory minimum jail sentence for any person of office including but not limited to judges, police officers, legislators or prosecutors who are inevitably found to be in breach of the Bill of Rights or the Constitution more broadly.
Absent any fear of repercussion for acts of tyranny large and small the abuses are left to mount up and fester until the only solution is a total rebellion and a bloody reset to the old order, with much suffering prior and during. Worse, by the time people move against the tyrants it could be too late.
The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.
