I wish I could make this shit up...

https://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-o...tGlQNVWOVM

"Vilifying Joe Biden for literally reaching out to connect leads to labeling all spontaneous physical gestures of consolation, affection or support as wrong or “creepy” — and we should think about what that means.

...

But the criticism of Biden has become so broad and so strident, instead of protecting girls and women from unwanted touching, it blurs lines between affection and aggression. It scares boys and men away from genuine expressions of caring. Having to constantly monitor themselves so they aren’t impulsively kind or supportive can cause alienation from these emotions — a disconnection already at the root of a toxic masculinity problem that can manifest later in physical violence, devaluing women — as well as male depression and suicide."

...yeah.

The #MeToo witch hunt talking points about Biden touching women are so overblown. It's like when they went for Louie CK, who had built a whole career making public attestations of his own humiliating sexual life--the whole world already knew. But now the times have changed and CK has got to lay low for a couple of years. Biden is pushing 80. He's from a really old time, and his style reflects that era, when people weren't constantly taking pictures and posting them on social media, a time with less obsession to Puritanically eradicate all forms of (apparent) public sexuality, when a powerful man could grip a baby's nuts on the floor of the United States Senate, or put his hands on a woman's shoulders, and it wouldn't be considered sexual at all. I often see people holding infants by the crotch, and it looks off to me, but I never say anything about it because what do I know about raising children, and apparently the kid's parents in the photo thought it was OK. Now SJWs are saying that he's sniffing women's hair. I don't know, maybe he is. Or maybe he is just whispering something encouraging and platonic, like a natural leader would, somebody who got elected to the Senate in his late 20s. Either way it's done totally out in public and nobody has called him out on it over the course of a 30-year political career. He even got elected as VP as recent as 7 years ago, and nobody brought it up. Maybe that's because he was the running mate of a black (and thus immune?). Only now with the recent fetishization of oppressor-victim dynamics does he get called out and forced to apologize.
Quote:By the time then-Vice President Biden had arrived, he could sense I was uncharacteristically nervous- and quickly gave me a hug. After the swearing in, as Ash was giving remarks, he leaned in to tell me “thank you for letting him do this” and kept his hands on my shoulders as a means of offering his support. But a still shot taken from a video — misleadingly extracted from what was a longer moment between close friends — sent out in a snarky tweet — came to be the lasting image of that day.
