There was a marked decline in jgirl attention towards caucasian men seemingly overnight between 05 and 07. That has not recovered.

Some liken it to an increase in foreigners but western males are less than they were 10 years ago. Im not buying it.

I came to granted a smaller city osaka with jet. There was definitely interest and not just from girls. Ekaiwa was everywhere then in advertising and commercials. The people thought America was powerful and cool. Internationalism was all the rage for years. In japan fads last a year. This internationalism lasted since the 50s at least as concerns the west. How could that change so quickly

I came back in 07 and all of the gaijin bars were j rap bars all the foreigners out except the nigerian thugs who were now jesus figures.
Returning in 2010 I observed the Hollywood induced rap phase moderating but other declines.

The economy declining for decades was reaching a critical mass where j people were not as concerned with travel ir English. However the revelation of nova bad practices made itself known. The only exception to the decline in foreign interest was the niw diminished rap craze and the inexplicable kpop. This from a country that discriminates against koreans

Japan is a less traditional more poor more fat society. J men are still beta. Is the less polite/traditional trend a factor in making them more alpha.

Jgirls attraction to caucasian men was never primarily about scarcity. It was about taller stronger fairer more fun and gentlemenly behavior. Our cultural preeminence was fully appreciated in a country without a ((tribal)) media.

With less ekaiwa are there not less caucasians. I know the number of third worlders has skyrocketed. This seems to counter act the nationalalist narrative.

Japan was always a difficult place for those who aren't English teachers and don't frequent gaijin hangouts where mostly low quality girls go.

Group think in Japan is: If you're with a gaijin guy you alienate yourself from Japan and few gaijin have any real social value.

Tokyo is flooded with white guys who mostly scare Japanese people off by being too noisy / rowdy / aggressive / not speaking Japanese.

There was a sudden cultural shift in 2010-12. With the 2011 tsunami and the rise of Korea and China, Japanese people became less interested in foreigners. Add smartphones to that and the overall decline of the sexual marketplace which has been the same as in most countries.
Cue the people saying that Japan is still pussy paradise. Yes it is great and the women are still great, but it has changed. Dweeby English teachers really did get laid a lot in the past, and they don't now.

I'd add also that Japanese students (high school, university) are studying abroad in declining numbers. And there seems to have been a shift, in which people are generally okay with not being proficient in English. These days you can 1) find someone who speaks English, 2) manage to communicate in rudimentary English and still get the job done, 3) use Google Translate or another interpretation app, or 4) some other way to communicate. And if Japanese people have figured out that they don't really need to learn English, then they now seem to be okay with not really giving a shit about the outside world.

Despite all the bullshit with deflation and a moderate economy overall, things in Japan are still quite good if you like peace, safety, and a healthy lifestyle. The average Japanese woman who might otherwise be interested in a foreigner, takes a big risk by introducing the foreign element into her life with a foreign man. Foreigners are part of the out group and, thus, not truly accepted in Japanese society. I suppose that it might always have been this way, so I'm not quite sure what changed, besides what others have mentioned previously.

One thing that I noticed in my time in Japan is that smart, good-looking women in Japan have figured out that they can get the best of both worlds in foreign men, without quite accepting them into their lives, by using them as platonic friends or as an English-speaking monkey. Professional women can even have several foreign friends (male or female) but in my experience it's quite rare that this professional will ever date a foreigner, at least on anything more than a very temporary, shallow basis. She's likely to have her foreign friends while inwardly and (mostly) outwardly professing an interest only in Japanese guys.

Of course, there are still a lot of Japanese girls who are interested in foreigners for an LTR or otherwise, but they tend to be lower-quality.

I used to think that these high-quality women were missing out by excluding foreigners, but then I think that their lives are much simpler and, perhaps, happier by just sticking to their kind. Westerners are generally neurotic and have mental health issues. Japanese men are more stable, I'd say - and there are a lot of Japanese men who are healthy, good-looking, and with a good job to boot, so I can understand why the higher-quality women would prefer them.

This line sums up not only the women but also the men in Japan. Foreigners, especially those who LOOK like they're foreign, are increasingly seen as that 'exotic' extra in their lives. There is the Japanese core and then there is the orbiting exotic white element. There are many foreigners who realize this, the smart ones go on to capitalize on it and go into the Japanese showbiz.

Thats why some of your average Joes back in America is a huge 'star' in Japan, while essentially goofing around and being an embarrassment on Japanese TV playing the role of 'The Foreigner.' We jeer at him and wonder why Japanese people even take to a goof like him. But the Japanese love him precisely because he acts like an idiot. In their hearts, the Japanese person is always the matured, sensible human being while the white guy talks loudly, makes exaggerated actions and while generates a buzz, isn't seen as favorably as a partner as a Japanese man. These foreigners on TV are there and are popular because they reinforce the racial stereotype and comforts the average Taro that 'hey, John is getting the women but at least I got a proper life with a stable job'

I don't know is it because Im an Asian foreigner that blends in in terms of looks but I've had J-girls tell me "日本人に似てるよかった" (I'm glad you look like Japanese/One of us) and they tell me that I give them more 'security' which is absolute bullshit.

Things have certainly changed alot in the past decade. I think hooking up with a hot Japanese 9 is still doable, it was never easy and that certainly hasn't changed. What has changed is that the younger generation, especially those in their early 20s is that the Japanese-American or Asian foreigner that speaks both English and Japanese(and blends into the crowd) is now seen as the most desirable man.

Its the rise of the 日系.

Maybe it's different in Japan, but in Korea I have an Alien card and I get stared at a lot. You're definitely reminded every day that you are a foreigner and that you'll never be one of their little ethnic tribe. Whites have been in Korea a long time too. Missionaries, then US military, then teachers.

Nope it's not although Koreans are definitely stronger ideas about racial purity and whatnot.

Pretty much every Japanese you get to know will ask what is your purpose for coming there and when will you leave, even in Tokyo.

After spending some time in Japan last year, my assessment is you can still get laid out there, it's just not a free lunch like it may have been in the past.

Ignore things out of your control like shifting cultural attitudes, and the decline of foreigner appeal and focus on things you can work on; language, fashion and game. Especially language.

Fads come and go in Japan. In the 90s it was fashionable to date a foreigner, so you had Japanese girls lined up outside the US military base gates on weekend nights (I witnessed it). A minor celebrity (I think it was Sachiko Nomura) wrote a book around that time about what a great time she had dating African-American men. The book was a best-seller and suddenly Japanese girls were competing with each other to hook up with black guys. Camp Zama (a US Army base) and certain clubs in Roppongi that played hip-hop music were the epicenter of that. That died out after a few years.

After that was the "adultery boom" (because of the popular TV show and movie "Shitsurakuen") in which it was fashionable to have an extra-marital affair. I think that lasted 2-3 years around 1998-2001. About 13 years ago there was a "lesbian boom" and Japanese women in droves were hooking up with each other. That died out after a couple of years. That was followed by the Korean boom, so rugged Korean guys were getting laid left-and-right. I think that one died out recently.

Of course, not all Japanese women got into those different fads. In fact, the number probably didn't exceed 10% of women in general, but in a country of 100 million, that's still enough to notice the trend. Perhaps the current trend is what Zedarme describes above.

When non-Asian foreigners do come back into style again, it will likely be more factionalized/specialized. Like say, Sean Connery look-alikes or something like that. I think it's good to keep an eye on the Japan thread and watch for the next fad, then try to take advantage of it.

I have many friends who did tours through Japan, a few regretted coming back to the West.

I know a few dudes living there now and I doubt whether they will come back to side of the world. Yes, they are "exotic".

It has always been a top 3 place to hit on my list.

I had no issues in Japan. Even pull 18 old cute girls. I could do a way more if stay longer then just 3 months and be able to speak better Japanese. Japan is a country where I see myself be able to find a nice way to blend in my own style without become full under Japanese pressure. It is about you guys, what you you want. A lot of easy bangs? Japan needs time and just be a tourist or English teacher is not a big leverage. When you have your lifestyle there I'm sure you can find a nice girl.

If you have good logistics you can easily create a harem in Tokyo, but it is one of the worst destination if you are there for a short time.
First of all the hotels are very expensive, a decent hotel will set you back anywhere between 300-400$ a night.

I was there with my parents, we stayed at Hilton. I got a lot of IOI's from random girls, if I had my own room and a bank roll enough to let me stay for 2 weeks then I'm sure I could've gotten a bang or two.

Edit:

A lot of jap girls still live with their parents, so do the young guys. If you have your own place, you will be 5-0 ahead. There are tons of articles about how sex starved the youth is there. I'm sure a lot of girls will jump at the opportunity to spend a couple of hours at your place with privacy.

Plenty of hotels for $60ish a night in Tokyo or hostels for 20-25 bucks a night if you're young and broke.

How do you know that a harem can be created easily with good logistics? From the articles you read or from your personal experience? Just good logistics and staying a month or two are not enough. One still needs enough game IMHO.
