Where to unlock Iphone 4 (5.0.1) in Miami?
Does anyone know where I can unlock my iphone 4 in Miami so I can use a US sim? I am trying to scan around for decent rates. I am calling back to Toronto (can be done over the air) but they are saying they cannot unlock anything on the firmware version 5.0.1.

Help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

I bought it from Fido (a Canadian company) one and a half years ago. If it is unlocked, I have a choice of companies. I asked about Red pocket but the dumb ass dealers in Miami pointed me to the wrong direction. I might try a T-mobile pay as you go for a month and see how that goes on service and Internet. I am tired of using the house phone where I am at.
I like my cellular mobility.

Don't bother with Tmoblie with Iphone. Go to a phone store(Independent) and see if they can load h2o in it. I think 5.0.1 is a little tricky to unlock.

July 3 they dropped data down to 1gig on the unlimited plan that was the only thing making them better than h2o.

I've heard good things about calling cards. If you do it frequently and already have a landline, check their plans.

Also check out google voice https://www.google.com/voice/b/0/rates

Software unlocking depends on your baseband version and not the firmware, I believe the version 04.12.91 cannot be unlocked using any type of software such as Ultrasn0w. The best way to unlock your phone is to do an IMEI unlock which is a permanent unlock. I just did mine. I was kinda nervous to pay and get this done but considering the fact that I dropped hundreds for the hardware, it was worth it! There are many options for an IMEI unlock, just google them, for me I used

http://myimeiunlock.com/shop/iphone-imei...nt-unlock/ I had it with in an hour. But there are literally hundreds of places on the web that you can get this done. Good luck!

Depends where you are calling! I mean there are many many options. DO you have a cell phone currently? What do you use now? The reason I am telling you this is because there are literally thousands of options! "Cheapest way to from from the USA" can be many things Smile

Having said that, check a few prepaid cell phone like straight talk, metro, t-mobile etc etc. they have unlimited calling for a few countries so you can talk until kingdom comes Smile Then there are VOIP like vonage that have some very decent rates for calling. I would not recommend calling cards (again depending on what countries) because they always have hidden charges like connection fee.

Definitely check out the prepaid calling cell phones, you might get a good deal.
