Real Estate in the DC Area
To give you a little background, I moved to the DC area about four years ago for a job. I am traditionally from the midwest and have been astounded by real estate prices here. I have always been a renter and I have toyed with the idea of finally purchasing some property.

I came across this link and found it very hard to argue with, especially regarding real estate in the DC area.

It really seems like it is better to put your money in some passively-managed index funds over buying a home.

James Altucher: The Great American Myth: A Home is a Waste of Money

Now James is from NYC, so his perspective is different than say someone who has land and a house. I appreciate owning your own castle, so to speak, but this is an interesting article to read to give you a different perspective.

I’d rather be far right, than far wrong!
