Eye cream works for me
aside from propecia, one other thing i know a lot about cause i have been using it for 10+ years is EYE CREAM.

specifically, i have been using this little bad boy:
http://www.sephora.com/repairwear-intens...am-P122650

clinique repairwear intensive night cream.

again, like propecia, it's not cheap, BUT IT WORKS. each thing is about $50 and lasts maybe two or three months, or more, so it's not *that* expensive.

unlike prpecia, eye cream i have talked about a bit more, on my blog, on D&P's blog, etc., but i just did a quick search on this forum and didn't see anything on eye creams, so i thought i would add this for all the young guys out there, who think they'll never get old, and the middle aged guys too, who are starting to see the effects.

obviously, eating healthy is the #1 way to combat wrinkles and look younger -- and feel younger, and actually *be* younger, since "you are what you eat" etc etc -- and i love that D&P is so huge on juicing, and even thinking about being vegetarian -- but anyway, aside from eating healthy, which takes more effort and really is a lifestyle change, this little eye cream is really really easy to put on, doesn't cost that much --- $15 a month max is my guess -- and it fucking makes a huge difference.

i am 37 and usually get 32-33 and that's even with some grey hair. i literally have no visible eye wrinkles. none. look close and you see a few fine lines.

this all might sound gay, but shit, looking younger wins every time in my book. the idea of being all clint eastwood and whatever sounds great, but very few of us have his looks or are movie stars.

alright, that's it. just buy this cream -- or some other cream, i know that kiehl's makes some good stuff -- and just put it on every night, and you will thank me in ten years.

seriously.

oh yeah, and like the saying goes, "the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, and the second best time is today", so whatever your age, start now!

Curious about bags under the eyes as well. So much of cosmetics seems like a scam, I'd like to know if there is something that works.

Nice, sounds like it's worth a shot. Is there anything similar for forehead wrinkles?

Ive been using an eye cream for a while, and I have to say I haven't noticed much of anything but it hasn't gotten worse over the last couple years so I guess that in itself says something. I'll try your brand rivelino and see if there's a difference.

Do you use anything like toners? Ive never used on but already got a skin care regimine started might as well add to it if it's beneficial.

Seconded. A film industry guy put me onto this a long time ago. He said it's considered the most important anti-aging treatment for male film stars, bar none.

I use Aramis brand. It lasts forever, like 12 to 18 months for this small tube. YMMV. http://www.amazon.com/Aramis-Lab-Series-..._1?ie=UTF8

For forehead wrinkles, try a cream with Retinol. You'll probably find two types, a night cream and day cream. Buy both if you want to hit it hard. If you only want one, get the night cream.

You should see results in 6 weeks or less. Better elasticity of skin and less pronounced wrinkles.

The old modelling trick is to use Preparation H.

Cool, I found this and think I'll give it a try: http://www.amazon.com/RoC-Retinol-Correx...B00027DMI8

Re: bags under the eyes, make sure you're getting enough rest and not too much. Also, consider the possibility that you're allergic to something and not aware of it. Years ago, I had a food allergy that I didn't know about and it was probably 80% of the problem, the other 20% was keeping weird sleep hours.

RE: Eye cream works for me
I agree that the best thing for bags under the eyes is good sleep, ideally 8-10 hours of good sleep, meaning you are not tossing and turning, waking up in the middle of the night, and you wake up feeling refreshed. I've never really had problems with bags under my eyes except for the rare occasion when I get insomnia or party hard, stay up too late, and drink too much. Drinking and partying a lot, doing drugs, will only exacerbate the bags under the eyes.

I started using moisturizer when I was 25 after taking a friends' advice and wanting to prevent the signs of aging, as I could see my late 20's and early 30's are were around the corner, I also splash facial toner on after a shower/shave, and sporadically use facial masks. I'd say it's definitely made a big difference, my skin looks healthy and radiant, but I don't think it really reverses the signs of aging that already exist, but rather kind of preserves the state of your skin and helps to really slow the aging process. I don't know if that makes sense to you guys.

One thing I will say, is that I have a big problem with forehead wrinkles and I believe they came from my facial gestures. My Mom warned me about frowning as a kid, but I think through much of my childhood and adolescene/teen years, I was unhappy, frustrated, depressed, etc. This caused me to frown a lot and I often had a kind of scowl on my face, add to it that I went to a high school that was kind of rough, and I often felt the need to put on a tough kind of face to not look weak. I believe that all of that added to my frowning, scowling, and facial gestures that caused the development of lines on my forehead, because I have noticed having them since my early twenties.

It's been hard to make myself aware of my facial gestures and especially not to gesture too much with my eye brows or forehead to add to my wrinkle lines. All of this might sound kind of OCD, but it is really the truth. Fortunately, using moisturizing cream, with other quality skin care products, plus a good diet, and supplements, and I have been able to really slow down the aging process. My goal is to be able to pass for early 30's when I am forty.

I take a grip of supplements, but the ones best for skin are collagen, omega-3 fish oil, vitamins a,c,e, CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, msm, and green tea tablet.

I have used a lot of different moisturizers, I tend to roll with companies that are very natural and organic. My favorite overall in probably Avalon, I liked their CoQ10 face serum, and am currently using their Vitamin C face serum. I am also rotating with Jason Organic Vitamin E facial cream, and Derma E Hyaluronic night creme. Basically you can't go wrong with anything high in anti-oxidants, vitamin c & e, CoQ10, as well as hyaluronic acid.

@manabout

"Are you using this under your eyes and all over your face? This is not specifically an Eye Cream."

i just use it around my eyes at night, and a bit on my forehead. yeah, you're right, this isn't really just an eye cream, but (1) i have oily skin, and (2) eyes is really the area to be concerned about.

then again you have a point. i don't know that much about dry skin. maybe if someone has dry skin they should put it all over their face at night.

RE: Eye cream works for me
what my ex told me to take care of my skin:

1. when you shower, be gentle with your face, and don't make frowns and stuff.

2. in general, in life, don't make frowns when you talk.

3. in general, gentle with your face when you wash it. and don't put hands on face, etc.

4. eat healthy, it REALLY helps the skin.

5. eye cream at night.

6. also, now -- and this is more advanced -- i put cream on my eyes during the day. once you "train" your face skin to always feel moisturized, you will begin to notice when it gets dry. so it actually feels good to apply moisturizer, to hydrate. i know this sounds very feminine and all, but it's the truth, and it works.

7. for during the day, i use this kiehl's cream on my eyes:

http://reviews.kiehls.com/2020/546/aroma...eviews.htm

but anything works, i am sure. but again, i started that only a few years ago. it's not as necessary, i don't think. night is huge. night is when the skin really heals itself, so that's when an eye cream really works the best.

8. oh yeah, when you put cream around your eyes, be very gentle and use your ring finger and "tap", don't smudge.

9. the skin around the eye is very very delicate.

10. that's pretty much all i know. bottom line: JUST PUT EYE CREAM OR FACE CREAM ON AT NIGHT BEFORE BED.

11. oh yeah, and put it on not right right before bed, otherwise it will just get on your pillow, and not be absorbed by your skin.

I've known about Preparation H for under eye bags for years, but Soma's post got me off my ass to try it out. Been taking it for about a month, usually 4-5 days a week, and leaving it on hours at a time.

It isn't getting rid of the bags, but it's minimizing their visual impact. Combined with 2 face exercises and some eye exercises, definitely looking younger and tightening up the face and jaw line.
