I'm not sure if many Americans really understand they have a distinct, unique culture that is different to other cultures or its so far away or less important, that it hardly matters as they are the most important one by far. Whereas, in Europe, drive a few hundred k's and its a totally different language, a totally different way of life - europeans have a stronger sense of definition as cultures.

Americans are collectively, and notoriously the worst geographers in the world. Only their culture seems to matter. Every other culture is 2nd or 3rd best - quaint, obscure, old fashioned etc.

There is a whole lot of things people from other cultures generally concur about American people and culture... though we only say it in hushed tones, so the Americans will not nuke us for being "anti-American"!

The only American people you can generally talk to about these things are the ex-pats who have left the place long ago, and they have a long laundry list of complaints, which when you compile them together, sound pretty much the same.

Ive been literally everywhere and gross over a Mil USD per year from a laptop with a global workforce I CREATED (spare me from the upcoming troll comments). BTW laptop runs on Window with new Intel chip 'ultra-something? I forget bcs it hard to keep up with all the shit America creates year after year.

A big difference between the US and many parts of Europe (excluding scandinavia) are the attitudes concerning what is 'politically correct' or not.

I remember having a middle aged french lady tutor me for french while staying in Paris. Seemed like the prototypical nice older lady, that is, until she started ranting about 'les arabes' (the arabs) in France. Pretty hilarious in retrospect.

This in contrast to what I'm hearing from friends who have moved to big cities in the US for college, where even slightly racist jokes are received uncomfortably.

Then again, these attitudes also vary widely from place to place in the US as well. Maybe its a big city thing?

I did not say I dont like ppl from the 'EU' BTW. I do however personally feel that during the 9 times I have been there (for both work and play) that I have observed that although 'many' Europeans say out loud to each other/themselves as well as 'lecture' the world that everyone is equal, great, exceptional (except America who is bad), they sure come off as arrogant (im not a fanny pack tourist BTW). They have an 'air' of superiority, which we call being assholes. Yes we have some old dumb fuckers from the USA that roam around there and look at your shit like idiots. One thing I never understood is why Europeans sweat us. In Norway some girl asked me if I was Paki and I said no Amreican and she said even worse fuck you..The girl had English writing and an american flag on her shirt. In Greece you hear Ameriki this and that all day..

You watch our movies, tv, know our politics etc. You guys sweat us 24/7 but we have no clue what's going on in Europe, watch your lame shows or care who your politicians/ leaders are. I would go to the movies in Norway and they would watch with subtitles so when I laughed at something they would too and i have a different sense of humor than most. There was no way they understood what i found funny.

Might have something to do with the way many of your fellow countrymen tend to be self absorbed, arrogant and prattle condescendingly and patronisingly about our affairs over our heads even though they often don't have a fucking clue.

Not singling you out though, plenty of those in my land too and we had many emigrants who went to the States. I can't say that I haven't met people from the US that I liked and I tend to get along with decent Americans much more than I do with people from neighbouring countries.
