Skin Tags
I'm pretty sure I get these from my dad. I've tried cutting them off in the past, but I don't think that's too hygienic and they seem to come back somewhat. I've never had anyone comment on them, but they don't look like they're supposed to be there and I've been getting more of them lately, especially under the arms.

What do you guys do about skin tags? I'd rather not go to the doctor for something I can take care of myself, especially because it's only as irritating as a mole or a wart.

I've heard of some people putting duct tape on them and waiting for the duct tape to fall off. Has anyone had any success with this?

Thanks

How many are we talking here? Where? From wikipedia,
Quote:...may use cauterization, cryosurgery, excision, or surgical ligation to remove the acrochorda

Get a $10 cryo kit and freeze them off. Depending on the size, it will be visible and painful for up to a week.

I'd say about six under or near my arms. They never bothered me before, but all of a sudden I went from having one or two of them to five.

fresh razor blades and rubbing alcohol (or scalpel blades if you can get them - I get them from ranch supply stores). If you wanted to try freezing (which I haven't found very effective), you can get liquid nitrogen for really cheap or free from welding supply shops

Very easy to remove them:

take strong thread (for sewing), tie a tight not around the skin flap. Within 15 minutes it drops off and doesn't return. You may need a partner to tie it around it if it's in a strange place.

Alrighty, I'll try it as soon as I can get my hands on some thread.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll let you know how it goes.

cryo doesn't work.

if they really stick out and have a 'stalk' you can cut them with sharp scissors. have some aluminum chloride on hand to stop any mild bleeding.

Most reliable but expensive option would be going to a dermatologist.

Get them snipped off a dermotologist. They don't tend to come back that quickly. Maybe every 10 years.

RE: Skin Tags
I used dental floss tied around a larger one, worked great but took about a week for it to fall off. hasn't come back at all.
