The other day I was eating lunch with two girls and this woman told me that I look like the stereotypical captain of the football team. That went straight to my head, but the two girls who were with me laughed and one said "You don't know him at all" which made me start thinking about labels that people place on others, expectations, and behavior.

So if people who don't know me place the Captain of a Football team label on me, what qualities are they expecting me to possess? Sometimes I'll talk to someone and they will look surprised; sometimes they squint. This usually takes place indoors so it's not the sun. I don't mumble, I know what I am saying makes sense, both of my eyes are the same size, what is the meaning of this!

Maybe adopting a few traits that the stereotypical captain of a football team possess would be beneficial.

Maybe I play around too much. I have a big dick so I know I fulfill at-least one of the expectations.

Does anyone have anything to add? Does anyone have personal experiences with people who were captains of a team? I played football my freshman year and got to do the coin toss once. So I guess I could say I was captain of a football team. They don't have to know that pretty much everyone got to be captain that season.

Football captain is a well-adjusted "one of the guys" who gets mad chicks cause he's effortlessly popular and good-natured. Pretty much everything I was not in high school LOL!!!!

People tell me all the time that I look like I should be a backup catcher for a AA minor league baseball team. I wonder how I can turn this into more pussy. Oh and I have a medium sized dick.

I'm getting the feeling that you make too many self depricating jokes to make people comfortable around you. The result is those people that questioned the analysis of the "football captain" no longer see you as that and the new person does, until you make more jokes at your expense or act goofily charming (but unpussy getting).

This is interesting. I got into the habit of making self-depricating jokes in order to make people feel comfortable around me. I could tell just by the fact that I am fairly above average in looks, tall, and that I dress well for someone my age, people would get nervous around me if I did not do anything to defuse the tension. But doing so ultimately hurts me?

I am honestly looking for some wisdom here because I want to learn. What are better ways to make people feel comfortable around you other than self-depricating jokes?

Guys fuck the whole "make them feel comfortable thing". I did this in my early 20s and it get's you nowhere. When there is tension from you intimidating them, they are going to try and qualify themselves to you, when you act goofy and approachable, you seem lesser in value. Male or female.

Be cool but don't be self deprecating, that isn't going to help you at all.

2. In this game it definitely matters more what some girl you just met thinks, over some girl(s) you've known. If she thinks you have that captain aura, take the ego boost and roll with it. If they change their mind after you bang them, who cares?

I see what you are saying. I got caught into using self deprecation to release social pressure that I would feel from other people, but ultimately it is a cop out.

I will stop using self-deprication.
